1. Does he regularly have live music? That looks small for pretty much anything beyond an unergetic duo.
2. The grey powder is probably the inner block, it's very easy to drill and doesn't hold well at the best of time.
3. I used some electrical contact cleaner and held it on, then tried a small amount of some conductive paste I have which is normally as good as soldering for testing but I think you are right and I will try soldering it and see. What is puzzling me so much is that it comes through its own hole and it's hard to see evidence of where it could have been and everything works beautifully as is. Perhaps it's just a spare wire that hasn't been capped off. The quality of the wiring in general shows they are built to a price but I love the sound so shouldn't complain. Most people would just ignore it I guess but I like my kit to be spot on.
4. The rawl plugs are the old type that aren't the best. There are far better ones available. If the wall is solid and you want to 100% sure than either expanding rawl bolts or chemical anchor is the best solution. If it's a stud wall then 'butterfly' type expanding fixings would be better.
5. One things for sure - it's not 10% of the quality of the one you made!
6. If I Earth it to a pot I get severe noise. I think I need to drop off the minihumbucker and see what is going on. It all works fine so I can't see what is happening really, the volume, tone and pickup selector all work fine. But the wire is so short it could only reach the back plate or the one pot which is why I am a bit baffled.
7.
if you are not happy with it send it back if you cant live with it and its always going to bother you
This^^^^^ it wouldn't bother me personally but if you felt the need to put a post about it then chances are it will always bug you.
8. Thanks, the rear cover isn't attached to anything other than the body, it's not like a front cover type where the foil acts as an Earth for the pots but it is covered in foil so there must be some reason to do it. Nothing else is connected to it.
9. Being a single black wire and only being long enough to reach the one pot, I thought the same. There is a small mark on the foil of the rear cover that is in range of the wire but I can't think of any reason anything would be connected to that. As it all works ok it has me a bit stumped.
10. My epiphone eb3 works in both pick ups and has no problems but when I took the cover off to tighten up the jack socket I noticed there was a single black wire coming from a hole on its own that is not attached to anything. Each pickup feeds a pot and comes through a hole each. This is through a separate hole and the end of the wire is slightly bared so suggests it has been connected at some time. The only obvious place it can reach is to Earth on one of the pots but if I do that it just causes noise. I don't fancy stripping it all out when it works fine but would like to know what it is. Does anyone have any ideas?
11. Randomly scatter small nails/ big drawing pins across the stage? That should induce some movement,
12. Put a small amount of thread lock on and they don't move. There are different grades, the best is the one that requires heat to remove (as long as you don't want to swap and change obviously).
13. I use the zoom b3 but also have a cheap joyo one and a korg. The Korg is the one I don't really use.
14. "I am going to ask you one more time, are you sure you haven't seen my 20kg block of best Moroccan black with a ribbon round it?"
15. I went to see Placebo last night at Manchester arena. I generally prefer small venues but it was great gig. It's the first time I have seen them live and they didn't disappoint. After four hours sleep I think today may be a long day at work.
16. I never go to our works Christmas do, the idea of going to someone's else's ranks up there with hitting nails into own head and water boarding. Credit to those who do it so the rest of us don't suffer.
17. I have a Marshall B150 which is designed for a bass. Sound is gorgeous but it weighs a ton.
18.
Therapy? Doing an acoustic show at the Union Chapel on Thursday night. Absolutely brilliant show...oddly, not especially for the music. More the intimate setting and relaxed between song banter, every song a sing along, a lot of story telling, etc Sadly the bass was a bit anonymous. Also, no booze inside the venue because God objects. Just one more reason to be an atheist
I love Therapy? and saw them a load of times when I was at Uni. The last time was Leicester students union and they were stunning. I think they went a bit off the rails when they signed the new deal and headed down the more commercial route but a few hundred people chanting James Joyce is ********* my sister at the top of their voices was a hell of a thing to behold. The first two EPs that they merged to become Caucasian psychosis is still on my regular play list over 25 years later.
19. OBBM do very good ones at sensible money. Edit: link here: http://bassic-bits.co.uk
20. Tamworth and Lichfield have a surprising number of local bands and venues between them. Plus Birmingham isn't far for the bigger stuff.
21. Sounds a laugh. I strggle to know what I am doing a few weeks in front let alone months but will come along if I can.
22. Forgive my ignorance but what sort of day is it?
23.
Fingers crossed then!
I need more than luck, if there was a raffle with only my ticket in there I would lose the other half! But cracking prize for whoever does win.
24. I have never won anything in my life, but worth signing up anyway.
