  1. Search out sub pop 100 and 200 (bet they are on YouTube) and you find some of the well known and some completely forgotten bands that shaped the early grunge sound.
  2. I can play about 60 songs perfectly from memory and bits of another 20 or 30, however in a guitar shop I can play sweet child o mine, alive by Pearl Jam and Peaches. Nothing more it seems..............
  3. This is so true. I usually struggle to even remember what songs I can play.
  4. I have seen you play, albeit for a short time, and you were spot on mate. Anyone can have a bad day.
  5. My experience seems very different to most of you, I am lucky to work in a place where there are quite a few musicians (the entirety of one of my bands for example but a lot more besides). We have also played works doos and charity events at work and it always goes down well. Far from being laughed at or hassled, I think we are seen as some sort of musical geniuses just because we can play a few songs. It’s been a very positive experience and we have just got a booking to do the wedding of a colleague in October.
  6. And another vote for Warwick reds, sound 95% as good as rotos but last about ten times as long.
  7. Those darn snowflakes get everywhere 😉
  8. I bought a pedal off Geoff, communications were spot on and pedal arrived promptly and as described. Thanks again Geoff.
  9. This place is great. As with any ‘community’ there will be people you agree with more than others or just get on better with for whatever reason. I have met loads of people off here and they have been brilliant without exception. There are a couple of people who seem intent on being offensive, but the report button can be used as mentioned as above, or the far better tool - the ignore setting. Life is too short to waste it on negativity so just switch them off and the world is a nicer place.
  10. I have a Precision with Jazz neck strung BEAD, never had an issue.
  11. +1 and their tax avoidance (evasion?) but I still use the site to read the reviews
  12. A Digitech drop pedal, so not that exciting but very useful.
  13. I lasted less than two days, but I did stick the wanted ad up last year.
  14. Loved it, made a change from bleeding George Ezra.
  15. I had similar a couple of years ago after a flight to Italy, my hearing was duff for three days and I really struggled. The fact I was also in charge of 20 kids with special needs didn’t make it any easier. When I returned I had the same problem for a couple of days so I had my ears checked, they were wax free and no other issues they could find. I had an appointment booked with an audiologist anyway for my tinnitus a few weeks later and he said it was probably down to pressure but couldn’t explain why it happened that time beyond I could also have had a low level infection I wasn’t aware of. I have flown four times since with no problems at all.
  16. At least you got it back. My guess is that they are the sort of chancer lowlifes who are after mobile phones, sat navs and a wallet if they get really lucky. There has been a spate of it in Tamworth, I think mostly as it’s easy pickings and the Police don’t seem to see it as any kind of priority so it’s low risk for the scumbags concerned. I very much doubt they would put 2 and 2 together and work out you may have other stuff worth taking and even less likely to have the faintest clue where to offload such kit.
  17. They have waved the higher postage costs when I have spoken to them over the phone. I always use the line of ringing up as they are cheaper but not with the postage, three times now they have waved it. I tend to use PMT Brum in person but the few times I have to use these it’s been ok with no hassles.
  18. Some people are just disgusting examples of the human race, what was the point?
  19. Thanks, I know it was Indonesian made in 2009 but can’t find a way to determine what model it would have been. I guess someone has thrown some money at it at some point. The earths aren’t properly soldered though so that, and some tidying, needs doing.
  20. I have had more time to play around with it and am enjoying more and more. The bottom end deficit compared to the T-bird is there but not frustratingly so and the boost on the D and G strings is very enjoyable. I have also given it a clean and started to look at some of the minor issues it has. The pick guard is a cheap two,ply one that fits badly and has been butchered so another (cheap] one is on order. The control plate doesn’t sit flat due to it and then someone has then tried to tighten up the screws and damaged one of the holes so that has been repaired with the old glue and matchstick trick. The control panel doesn’t look like a standard Squier one but I could be wrong, it looks aftermarket and quite nice. The decal has been swapped to a Fender one on the front, but the small Fender logo is still there so not the affinity range. SN is still on the back but I have drawn a blank trying to find out what it was originally. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. It doesn’t really matter but I like to know these things.
  21. I have a cheap one I bought second hand. It’s great for a noodle here and there but haven’t found any strings that work well for it yet.
  22. I can 100% guarantee it won’t be the daily Fail as I wouldn’t lower myself to read that rubbish, it was an interview given on Dutch radio a few years back (I used to live in the Netherlands) where she was effectively blaming immigration on the problems in several UK cities and saying she didn’t feel safe in Rotterdam for the same reasons. She didn’t use the term immigration but said something like ‘influx of masses of different cultures that don’t get on together’ or something like that. I also remember her being against same sex marriage but can’t for the life of me remember where I heard that. I will try and find something on it, but it was a few years ago so not sure how successful I will be. I understand what you say regarding art/ artists but sadly it’s hard to separate the two. I wasn’t a fan of Gary Glitter, but I bet the majority of his fans are less inclined to listen to his stuff now (not that I am comparing her comments to Glitters actions obviously, just an example of how it’s hard to separate the person and their actions from their art).
  23. I generally agree with you, the exception is anyone with very right right/ far right wing views as I do not wish to support people of that nature in any way. I suppose it’s very selfish of me really to what to appreciate the music but without the ‘baggage’. I think what I was getting at more is not that they shouldn’t air those views if they choose to but that they should appreciate that if those views are extreme or unpleasant, or even just very different, to someone else’s then it may affect the listeners views of them. I would not personally buy any products from people advocating racist, extremist, homophobic etc views, and the vile way she discussed the immigration issues in this country fell into that category for me and the idea of her as this sort of slightly bonkers, whimsical genius was shattered and a very unpleasant individual was revealed. Very sad as a couple of her albums are on my favourites list with sensual world being a work of genius to me, even though I am normally listening to punk, grunge, hard rock.
  24. It’s the complaints about giving interviews and doing the ‘media circus’, whilst I appreciate the media can be intrusive, the nature of her business means that she clurtsbthe attention at times and then moans about the Very means of her publicity the next. I stopped listening to her albums for a year or so after one interview where she was particularly self indulgently annoyingly which bugged me. Then there are her political ramblings, I don’t need to know she is firmly in the right wing camp as it will just annoy me, whilst I appreciate she has a right to an opinion, as does Gary Linekar, or anyone else, but it doesn’t need to be aired publicly perhaps.
  25. Despite being far far from my usual sort of music I have a few of the earlier albums and find that generally the singles are the worst ones on there. But I struggle with her as a person as every interview I have heard with her shows her to be a whinging self obsessed plonker and that’s does slightly detract from the music for me.
