  1. You do have to pay if you want to talk to people though. There is a band I may be interested in so tried to contact them but I have to subscribe for a month at a tenner. They may be great and it could be the best tenner ever spent, or I could hear nothing back. I know they have to make profit somehow but not sure it’s the best way.
  2. Possibly, but insanity is generally a positive thing in the end.......
  3. Sounds like my perfect bass! Can’t wait to see these.
  4. Try as many as you can, so many people will say Precision but it didn’t work for me. The second I got my hands on the neck of a Thunderbird I knew I was at home. Nothing has come close to changing that. Everyone is different, take the time to work out what fits you best
  5. Oldest in our band at 46, I am usually the driving force for the newer stuff. I go to see far more ‘up and coming bands’ than the rest of them put together. Does seem weird sometimes when 95% of the audience are below 25 though.
  6. My daughter has been messing with the voice coach bit on Yousician, only the free ten minute a day lessons so I thought whatbthe he’ll nd gave it a go. For a freebie it’s pretty good and after a week on it I think it’s helping me hold pitch better and also to know when I’m not right. Some strange stuff they get you singing though, doubt it will be making the set anytime soon.
  7. My wife got me an Ibanez for Christmas last year. It’s there bottom of the range Gio model so I didn’t expect a great deal but I am amazed by how good it is. Fit isn’t the standard of the better models but it sounds great. I put some flats on and I love it.
  8. I don’t think you can go wrong at that money.
  9. I had a play on one but not exactly sure which model. It was second hand in our local shop but not very old. I was impressed by the build quality for the money and it sounded nice if a little slightly limited on tonal range but no different in that respect to my Ibanez which was similar money. If I hadn’t already got a short scale it would have come home with me. Very good for the money. I am sure you will enjoy it.
  10. I have been listening to fair amount of modern blues of late and I think the OTB will fit in nicely (I have a 1000w Model). I run mine through barefaced cabs which are pretty neutral sounding and I think they would go well for the sort of stuff you are looking at.
  11. Autosol is very good, available from any decent motor factor or eBay.
  12. Let me know when you know more. Our guitarist’s other half is expecting a new baby in a couple of weeks so we have a big gap in gigs and have been looking for a few interesting things in Brum to go to.
  13. Oohhh, how much are tickets mate?
  14. Glad it’s not just me that does that!
  15. Just a guess, but alignment holes for when machining?
  16. Done it a few times (have a mate who lives that way on), never had a problem. I think people seem to be more wary because it is complicated. Far better than trying to navigate the one way bits in Nottingham!
  17. It does sort of work when you are there though. I drove through it without realising it was the ‘famous’ roundabout the first time.
  18. Fantastic service as always! I was aware of the issue from the warning but thought it was worth flagging up just in case. They are damn persistent.
  19. Just had a dodgy reply to a wanted ad, seems the morons are back. I have reported it and know the admin will hit them quick but thought it worth flagging up again as they put an email in the reply, don’t want anyone to lose out.
  20. Wow! How cool is that? Shame about the added costs. The carriage seems particularly high, I had a motorbike engine sent over a few years back for £80. I expected it to take an age but it arrived in about 10 days.
  21. Both our drummer and myself would be happy do more gigs (slowdown due to new baby for one bandmember) if he wasn’t a few hours away I would give him a shout. We are used to working with each other and could fit a (decent) guitarist in no problem. If they already have gigs booked then brilliant.
