  1. A Stagg, not that great and traded up to a nice Aria pretty quickly.
  2. That’s not horrendous, and a lot cheaper, not to mention a lot less risky, than having them permanently installed.
  3. How much did it work out with post? (tax?)
  4. No worries, I have a couple of Basses up for sale, I will give you a shout if they go.
  5. Are you interested in any trades? I am local to you (just off A5 in Tamworth).
  6. Two I enjoyed learning a lot were alive by pearl jam and sweet child o mine, both easy enough to get into quickly but enough bits to be fun.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions, I had done a search before posting but didn’t put the options as wanted real world opinions as opposed to reviews on websites you have no idea about. Oddly(or perhaps not) the two that came up when I looked were the boss and a more expensive one in the TC range (that does stuff I don’t need). I like Boss and TC stuff just need to find one now.
  8. Anyone use an auto tune/ pitch corrector pedal for their vocals? I only do BV but am aware that I am a not so great up the octaves (so to speak) and this limits what I do. Just wondering if the use of an auto tune pedal would help. Does anyone use one? Do they sound natural? (Obviously I don’t want the very intrusive auto tune warble).
  9. 9 here. I have worked out the perfect number to own is how many you already have +1.
  10. Surprisingly good is the answer. I got a set after reading on here and swapped from roto 66s. The rotos used to last a couple of rehearsals and a gig before going off. The Warwick reds are on two gigs, several rehearsals, six weeks and still sound fresh. VERY pleased with them.
  11. Weellllllllll...... before a certain vote it was about two dollars to the pound, now it’s something stupid like 1.30. Bound to have a big effect on anything we import from over the pond sadly.
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions, I am gradually working through them and all the offshoots ‘people who like this also like....’ connections. Some brilliant suggestions.
  13. I have a couple, an Ibanez Talman and an old Aria, both see little use but aren’t worth enough to make the effort worth it. I bought the Talman new as a dabble with shortscale. It plays beautifully but I can’t see me ever gigging it, bit when I think of selling it I just wonder whether it’s worth it for the small sum I would get for it. The Aria is a classic back up bass that sits there most of the time ‘in case’ worth pennies and I shouldn’t even think of selling it but it does take up space.
  14. Wow! Amazed this hasn’t had more interest!
  15. Looks like they have gone now........
  16. I like the really rough and dirty southern blues the best. Not sure if there is a modern equivalent.
  17. Thanks for the super quick replies! Had a quick listen and loving all the suggestions so far!
  18. I am mostly a rock/ punk/ grunge/ alternative listener but have always loves the sort of blues my dad used to listen to. People like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker etc. Recently my blues interest is having a bit of a Renaissance but I realise there must be some brilliant modern blues artists out there. So I was wondering if we have any big blues fans who would like to make any suggestions for bands/ artists worth giving some time to.
  19. We use a couple of Laney monitors, great sound and cheap to buy.
  20. Do a search for Eagle 1 hovercraft and loads of pics come up. All my pics are on old fashioned film unfortunately. They are a great and cheap way to get into hovercraft. You could build one for £300-800 depending on your DIY skills. Nothing is complicated at all. It took me about 120 hours in total but I bought a ready cut skirt. To make your own skirt would add another twenty hours at a guess.
  21. One left hand one right would make life much easier on stage!

    Gibson ES-355

The mind is a strange thing, £2k seems crazy money for an Ibanez whereas £4K for a Gibson doesn’t. I appreciate it doesn’t make sense but I guess I just see Ibanez as a budget make which is very unfair, especially as I have a couple and they are great (but not even close to the sound of my Thunderbird which may be biasing me).

    Gibson ES-355

Sadly not in Black, it’s a sunburst, not sure of the name but it goes from a very dark (could be black) to a goldy yellow colour. It doesn’t come out very often but he has gigged it with us a couple of times when it’s a really nice venue. He plays a Les Paul normally and the 355 sounds noticeably better to my ears. The black looks even better to me.
