  1. Why does it need to be a female bass player? Just wondering...........
  2. Their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DownshiftLiveMusic/?pnref=lhc
  3. Not sure how you count great but I know of a few in bands locally. Our lead guitarist has a female bass player in his other band and she is very good.
  4. Peaches, The stranglers. Nothing comes close.
  5. It’s bloody crazy isn’t it, just wish I had been able to see them live. I know they weren’t the best band technically but you know it would have been an experience!
  6. Tilted with Sugar, but God save the Queen, the pistols and teen spirit, Nirvana would be very very close.
  7. I bought an Orange Terror head from Dunc, it was sent very well packaged and is exactly as described. Buy with confidence. Thanks Dunc!
  8. If I am not driving then I will have a beer strategically placed somewhere I can reach between songs, otherwise it’s Diet Coke and water. I always have bananas with me, it’s a leftover from when I used to fence at uni, they are great at preventing cramp and work brilliantly for a long gig. They have become something of a tradition in the band as well with all the others taking the pee out of them so I now place them in as obvious place as I can. Last gig one spent the first set in a spare microphone stand.
  9. I have just got a barefaced Midget and compact. Still cannot believe how much air they shift. The compact is enough for most places I will ever play I think. The combination is very flexible and weighs nothing.
  10. Been reported no doubt, the picture of the email and suggestion of deals outside eBay would be enough.
  11. I tried one and was disappointed with the sound. I would suggest you try one first hand before parting with your cash.
  12. Yousician is ok for basic skills, there is a freebie option and it’s not bad at all as a freebie.
  13. Following from various threads about music shops, so what th8ngs shouldn’t you do in a music shop? For starters, playing this is bound to make you Mr/Mrs popular with the staff:

No idea, but it lists a whole load of stuff that makes perfect sense, then just dumps a wobbler in on that one and one other which seems weird. Seems similar to what the OP had found.
  15. I have been playing about 18 months now, started gigging 15 months ago. The key to improvement for me was playing in a band. Nothing else I have done has come close to the help that has been. It’s a driving force that gives you a reason to practice, material to practice, great experience during rehearsals and a time frame to work to. I practice 40-60 minutes every day except rehearsal day (usually do at least two hours that day). I break it up into a ten minute warm up of noodling, bits and pieces or maybe an easy song, then 20-30 minutes on new songs or a technique I want to practice and finally 20 or so minutes on songs I know to keep them in my head. In the few days before a gig I will just practice half the set each night, a complete run through start to finish. Everyone is different obviously but this has worked well for me.
  16. Drop Marshall an email, they are incredibly helpful.
  17. We need to write to myth busters. Ideally you would want two identical basses and do a back to back test or use the same one in two controlled environments. When this came up before I had a search as I almost exclusively use Hercules stands which hold by the neck so wanted to know either way. The simple answer is that there was nothing conclusive either way that I could find. A lot of anecdotal stuff both ways which suggests to me there is actually no problem as long as it’s well held and supported. What is proven to cause problems is big swings in humidity, high humidity, big temperature changes, high temperature, strong sunlight but I think we probably all know those (of possibly not based on the amount of basses on eBay photographed in a garage).

Something weird going on as it has my iPad as being in Atherstone on Christmas Eve, it never leaves the house and neither did I on Christmas Eve as it happens.
  19. I have a TE rig and love it but have just forked put for a couple of second hand barefaced cabs. They aren’t cheap but the difference is weight is crazy, the sound is stunning as well which is all important. I bought them as second kit for the gigs up twenty flights of stairs or parking a mile away but think they will end up being my go to kit, so much so that I am whipping the head out my combo to run them off (can’t lose that TE sound altogether). One barefaced compact cab should do you compared to the ones you suggest.
