  1. Nope, sadly it’s the full width, well the casing is and don’t fancy trying to recase the whole thing. I have access to a full workshop so was hoping I could just whack some adapters together for it but no luck.
  2. No problem here on iPad or windows phone.
  3. Does anyone have any ideas what would fit a TE GP7 head? It’s 22.5” which is beyond the usual bags and cases I can find. I want to liberate it from its present combo to use with my newly acquired barefaced cabs but don’t want it getting knocked about. I have had a look and beyond the ‘custom flight case’ I can’t find any other options.
  4. That old chestnut, as the engineer in me shouts, so tell your version of best and I will tell you mine..............
  5. They do have gaps though, look how many epiphone thunderbirds of various types are knocking about but PMT in Brum doesn’t stock a single Gibson/ epiphone bass but have loads of six strings. I am sure there is an economical reason in their minds but they also have a range of seriously expensive basses there, surely sticking a £300 epiphone in one of those slots would get more sales from the proverbial spotty teenagers?
  6. And this is what it comes down to I bet, there possibly are technically better ways to do it but they would be more expensive to make and more complex/heavier so maybe less reliable/ hardwearing. Then there is the issue of getting people to buy them, when more than half the bass playing population seems to struggle with anything without a Fender logo on it, it could be a step too far for many. Life is a compromise.
  7. To be fair to PMT their Birmingham branch has a couple of guys who are very knowledgeable on bass and fall over backwards to be helpful. The range of basses is limited to what I would like to see, but then reading on here it seems most people want twenty different fenders. One of the guys spent over an hour with me when I messed about with three overdrive pedals, he knew it was an £80 sale at best but was still as helpful as he could have been. My only major issue with PMT was an online purchase which turned into a nightmare and the muppet on the end of the emails obviously had no idea of why I was even asking him what I was asking him.
  8. To me that’s the last two fingers being stuck up, ‘and you were expecting pink perhaps?’ Sort of thing. Sid Vicious would look great with it.
  9. We have added this to our general covers set so trying to learn it, problem is it seems simple but in reality goes around a bit. Does anyone have any simplified tabs/ music for it? I just want to get the ‘feel’ of it right and can that add the twiddles in as time goes by. And any tips for an intermediate player on it are always greatly appreciated.
  10. Weirdly I quite like that, it’s testing to be crap so works well, as opposed to trying to be cool and failing badly.
  11. Another vote for them here, absolutely fantastic when I was trying to get spare parts. After a bit of tooing and froing it turned out they couldn’t get the part so sent a complete new one free of charge as show of good faith. More than impressed with them.
  12. The ‘joy’ of the English language is that you can argue that Ghoti can be pronounced fish as well, the gh from rough, o from women and ti from superstition its a crap language really when you think about it :-)
  13. I want to like our local shop, the people who run it are genuinely nice and passionate about getting people into music. Sadly in the space of a big corner shop they are never going to have a big range of anything. The chap who co runs it (I think) is no spring chicken and the basses they have are overpriced and dusty and grimy so not appealing. The only new stuff is Encore type entry quality. It’s a shame as I think any town having a music shop is a good thing and helps fires the imagination of kids. I still remember buying a recorder from Gould’s in Derby at age 5 (can’t play it).
  14. There seems a certain kind of idiot who who has a mental image of a woman as 5’2” and either on a violin or piano. I know a local bass player who was asked by a (sober) punter how she could play bass on account of him not thinking her arms would be long enough. She is 6’2”, arm length Is NOT an issue. We spent a few minutess suggesting various things she could have wound him up with, her actual response was ‘are you f’kin serious?’ Which is unsurprising.
  15. If it’s potentially making you feel ill nd you aren’t enjoying it then it sounds quite easy. Perhaps organise a meeting and put your cards on the table? It could go well and put things back on track, if not, well you tried.
  16. Strange, loads of people on Gumtree pronounce it Squire
  17. I thought Ritz did biscuits not scones? Not had them in years, can you still get Them?
  18. There is a South of Watford? What is this place you speak of?
  19. That’s what I said - scone If only some people would listen life would be so much easier (hears the stop it it’s getting silly from MP in his head)
  20. Ideally you need to get the contact cleaner into the pots as just spraying around won’t get it where you need it. It’s usually easy enough to get the backs off and gently move the board out of the way. On MOST old pedals the post are easy enough to change for anyone with a school project standard in soldering. The main switch can be a bit more tricky if straight into the board but still ok if you get something to wick the solder off once melted. There are professional products but I just use bits of scrap wire with the ends spread as it creeps up them nicely.
  21. Come on, this is snow laughing matter
