Looking at a lightweight rig to backup my TE kit for smaller/ up a million stairs gigs. Looking at the Markbass range, specifically the traveller 2x10 and 1x15. The 2x10 is available in 4 or 8ohm, the 15 only 8. The amps won’t take less than 4 but have higher power at 4 than 8. I just want to double check my understanding is correct, if I use two 8ohm cabs I will be getting around the 4ohm needed, if used a 4and 8 it would be under the 4ohm and therefore a bad idea. So the best combination is both 8ohm but for a single cab it would be the 2x10 4ohm. Sorry that’s a bit rambling but hoping someone can confirm that’s about right.

I don’t have a belt sander anymore, I got rid of all my heavy vibration tools due to arthritis. Shame as it would be very useful on this one.

Success! Serious Woodworkers should close their ears now. I shaped the rear section by using a cordless drill with a cross mill in it. It worked surprisingly well. I then used a rasp followed by a metal file. It’s ready for the routing to be done but not sure when I will get chance to do that. I also now have everything I need except the tuners and wiring. I may make up the loom myself or go for a cheap ebay one at first then upgrade.

Due to Christmas and the usual January frenzy at work I haven’t had much chance to do anything on this. But I have managed to shape the body and do the rear shaping (minimal). I have a couple of rubbish pics on my phone which I will attempt to upload.

I was offered one of those cabs for £80 a few months back and turned it down, just too heavy and no need for it. That price? No chance.

We always play a semi tone down, I use roto 66s and can’t say I have noticed them being floppy so might be worth a try.

I have bought a super cheap eBay special in the past, it came in less than a week from China (where most of the others come from anyway) and was a very good fit.

I have an Aria ATB that I picked up for peanuts. It’s great and I will never sell it as it’s still worth peanuts. It would be an ideal starter for someone and a lot better than the Encore type fender clones.

We played last Friday at a local pub and are rebooked for May, we will do about 50% new stuff next time. There are some that tend to stay put and others that we swap,in an out depending on how we feel and the venue.

I have used them in the past and it works ok. It is relentless and I learnt it as a newish player and by the end I was always ready for it to stop!

Welcome, I had the pleasure to live in Delft and Breda in the 90s and loved it. Delft had a great music scene at the time.

I have a behringer microphone that is superb for the money but the couple of bits of bass kit I have had of theirs have both died in short order which makes me a bit wary.

Just had a thought, I am also looking for an ABY pedal, does anyone do an ABY pedal bit with additional DI out? I have looked but can’t find one.

I really don’t understand why people are obsessed with filming everything in appalling resolution/sound whilst missing the live experience.

Small pub in Lichfield last night, what it lacks in size it always makes up for in atmosphere, great beer, great landlord and a blast from start to finish. We were really on it and the crown were great, one really weird guy though, why is there always one? We do punk/ indie/ grunge/ rock and he asks for various miles Cyrus songs. He wasnt local as he told us at great length after the gig as we tried to avoid him. Landlord loved it and gave us 50% on top of fee and wants us back.

When I googled one I was suspicious of I got about 100 hits for ‘is this genuine’ threads. It was good enough to have fooled a previous buyer sadly, who was very upset and out of pocket by more than a few quid.

It's worth googling the serial number, there are a few that appear very regularly on copies. It won’t proove it’s genuine but could prove it’s fake.

Read the full story and the organisers did a lot, sorted the main event, free upgrade, offer of free carer tickets, access to private toilet facilities etc. As a passionate supporter of disability rights I find this a bit frustrating. Unless there is something being missed by all the media, which is possible, then it seems to be someone looking for an angle to moan at. I truly hope that isn’t the case as it’s been a hard slog to get rights for the disabled and it only takes a few freeloading idiots to spoil it for everyone.

I don’t always smile a great deal when I am concentrating, if I do I think I probably appear slightly crazy. This is an example of ‘game face’.
