1. I find I count religiously on some songs but on most I tend to start out doing it but after a few run through I have it pretty much there and then it just comes down to either ‘feel’ or other musical cues. Some songs I never count on, they just seem to work. So I guess it’s a case of I use it when I need it and I don’t when I don’t. Probably not that helpful really, sorry.
2. Can I have building walking basslines and fretless bass please. Pm me your email and I will send the money over.
3. I can’t believe in this day and age people are still making fun of something as serious as Dyslexia, my best mate was dyslexic and had a terrible and tragic life, he sadly died choking on his own Vimto. (sorry couldn’t resist)
4. I I have seen the ukulele kits but can’t really see him playing one to be honest. I have now worked out that I can get all the parts needed apart from the body for a sensible price so will probably do that. The body is a lot of work but needs less specialist tools.
5. I will have to weigh mine but it’s proper heavy, at least three or four pounds over the Precision I had I am sure.
6. My Thunderbird is a real tank so when I picked up my Ibanez fretless it just feels, like there is nothing there at all. The thunderbird will remain number 1 despite its weight and my neck and shoulder issues, I have found that it doesn’t matter as long as I have a wide we’ll padded strap. Even 2 1/2 gigs don’t cause any fatigue for me. I think I could go to sleep with the Ibanez on and not notice it.
7. Been there but all I can see is one for a quote for instrument insurance, I guess that’s not it.......
8. The pics seem to have disappeared.
9. I have been looking at 6 string kits as they would be a perfect present for my father in law. Frustratingly I can see loads of headline prices between £40-50 but when you go the sites they are all £80 plus which is a bit much for a Christmas present.
10. The new site does seem very slow at the moment but I am guessing that’s just start up issues.
11. I am on my iPad and it seems to be working ok. So hopefully it’s sorted now.
12.
One of these, coupled with a 2x10 ext cab (not trace) has been my gigging rig for years. I expect a 2x10 Trace combo with a 1x15 ext cab would sound much the same though. I injured my back at work years ago but still manage to haul the combo in and out of the car to gigs. Consider it character building Actually the 2x10 SWR ext cab isn't a lot lighter than the Trace combo.
Mine is very similar, but a GP11 250w combo and the cab. I have never had it over 4 on the output, heaven knows how big a room we would need to play to get it it up towards 10. I get loads of compliments on the sound, it cost me less than £200 total.
13.
Where are Bad News ?
and spinal tap
14. Sorry but putting the dirge that is Radiohead at 3 loses it all credibility to me.
15. One thing I have found as well is that some of my favourite songs to play aren’t my favourite to listen to and vice versa,
16. We have two different sets, a punk and alternative set where 90% is stuff I love and a general covers set where 10-15% is stuff I love, about 40% I really like and the rest stuff I wouldn’t choose to listen to but don’t mind. Even then most of my favourite music isn’t exactly mainstream so would not really fit that well but there are always some ones that work. And then there is the issue of a band being more than one person so it will always be a compromise.
17.
Me next please.....keep em local!
Will do, just getting through a book on Hitler in the First World War then I will be on them :-)
18. Our Drummer is the softest gentlest guy you could ever imagine, in rehearsal he plays very gently if needed and is an all round gentleman. Lots on conversations about not playing too loud, not needing to turn the amps up etc. But as soon as we are at a gig he is a full on demonic possessed sound beelzebub on speed, every time.
19.
1500 euros, so like 1300/1400 quid
Hmmm, a bit strong at that price I fear.
20. I like the black one, any mention of prices yet?
21.
GAK in Brighton via eBay.
Thanks, I have been looking for the four string version for a while with no luck so will check that out.
22. I messed about with a few before I found one I was really happy with - a TC spectracomp. I use it dialled in fairly low and it gives the tone a ‘fuller’ sound to my ears. If you dial it up it does kill the nice variations you can get by changing the way you play so I simply don’t turn it up. For me it’s the one and only always on pedal.
23. Very nice! Where did you get it from?
