John bought a pedal from me, great comms, very reliable. Thanks mate

I emailed TC and not a sausage in reply............

My Ibanez is more bright than my Thunderbird, so perhaps they vary by make/ strings. I love playing it but it only works for some songs for me. When I need a really fat thumping bottom end it just isn't there oomph wise.

The slade and wizzard classics are a laugh to play and will get any crowd going (well possibly apart from one at a retirement home, but short of a wheelbarrow full of amphetamine it may be a struggle).

I bought a nice 250w Marshall valve combo for £50 last year, the guy was hardly inundated with offers. I think that was cheap but they don't seem to make much money. Some cabs are for sale ASKING a lot of cash but I haven't seen any sell at those prices. I suppose you can always ask a decent price and keep it if it doesn't sell but I would just keep it if it were me.

What would you do- a hypothetical quandary?
In my view, if buying or selling, the item is still up for grabs by any other buyer until the buyer says "It's a deal. I'll have it. How do I pay you?" And delivery or collection is being discussed. What the OP has described is all still chat.
Same here, once payment/ collection details are exchanged I will hold for a while but still always respond to anyone else that I will be in touch if it falls through. -
Wow, just wow. I know taste is in the eye of the beholder but I can only assume very severe shortsightedness in this case.
Congrats. Likewise, I've been learning to play bass for a little over a year. Not having joined a band, I admire you for jumping in there so soon. I really need to do something about that sooner rather than later.
Go for it, I started back end of October last year, first gig was in December. It really focuses you to improve and gives the structure I needed to know how to go about it. And it's such a great thing to do you will love it.

It's a shame as it's a great system but as I have one that works really well it would be a pain to lose it BUT there could be an even better one waiting.
-
I thought that would do it myself but it just drops me into the editor. i am not sure if the settings it shows are what is on at the moment or a starting point. Looks like it might not be as simple as I thought so may just email TC.
I'm with you. Can't you ask the seller?
Pm has been sent so will hopefully get reply, but they may not remember. I would have thought there would be a way but I can't find it so far.
Download Toneprint app select bass then select product i.e. tc spectracomp. Then choose an artist by clicking on it and put your android phone or pad etc near the pick up and done. You can then re set to factory settings or choose another artist from the app.
Yup know all that but that's not what I want. I want to know what it's already set to so I can go back to that if I want to as it works well but there could be something better.
-
I got my hands on a spectracomp second hand and have been using it for a few weeks. I am very happy wth it but can't scratch the itch that says play around a bit BUT as it's second hand I have no idea what TonePrint (if any-could be factory setting) is on there. I was wondering if there is a way to determine what is already on there? I can't find anything on the iPad ap which tells you but I could be missing it. I don't want to risk losing something that works but would like to have a play.

I have a Dunlop headphone amp I got off here cheap, they are cheap for a reason. Sound is poor to say the least and the volume control isn't the best (doesn't provide anything like the range you would think). The jack socket is also dicky but that's just this one I guess.
15% of the total is 4-string fretless. I'm surprised by that, I thought it would be less. That means that one in seven are four string fretless basses.
It's only the number of people that have them not the number they have. So they could have ten fretted and one fretless but would count as one each on the scale.

Rubber bungs on her heels? I use bright green cables and a smooth hound wireless setup. It seems it's not popular to have coloured cables but it helps at break down time especially when you have a band member with a 'bad memory' for which cables are theirs. All my black speaker and mic cables have yellow cable ties at both ends for the same reason.

I use a foam wood dash cleaner for cars. It's very gentle but lifts the dirt well. Then a treatment of lemon oil if it's rosewood.

Must also add Bob Mould, perhaps the single most under rated musician of the last thirty years.
The Jeff Berlin players school is a 1x15, and costs a little over the OPs figure, but can be bought for less used on here or eBay. Why would you need a cab? They're already plenty loud enough.
I know sound is subjective but I have messed about with one of those and they aren't in the same league as a decent TE set up. For a beginner or 'school' they are fine (and I understand that is why they made a cheaper version) but they don't compare at all well with Markbass's usual offerings in my experience. As for the cab, it's not about volume, it's about where you place them as backline and also the different responses on a 15" and 2x10". Last gig I played my TE was on less than 4 on input and one click under 2 on output but I still took the cab. It's all down to personal choice but I know where my money would go (and did go).
-
I was tempted by an Ibanez a while back but it had tape wounds on it. Put me off completely which is stupid really a stupid I could have changed them but would have been nice to hear it with a decent set of roundwounds on. For me it was as much the feel as the sound which didn't suit me.
-
... but the Markbass costs £800..!
Yup and my TE has wheels! If they can find a Markbass combo and cab for anywhere near the £175 I paid for mine I would genuinely be interested but can't see it happening anytime soon.
A Markbass combo is perfect for just about anything. Re the Trace Elliot suggestions. There's a reason they can be had cheap. They're fine if you've got a plenty of room at home, a car and help both at home to load the thing in to and out of your car, and at the gig to unload and load it back in. They weigh loads, something like the equivalent of four Markbass combos.
I keep hearing how stupidly heavy they are but they aren't as bad as the urban myth would have people believe. They aren't light but they aren't a two man lift either. Last Friday we were up two flights of stairs, our rhythm guitarist took my combo and I took the 2x10 cab, I noticed the weight but it wasn't a problem. Size wise they aren't massive - roughly the same size as any other 1x15 combo or 2x10 cab (guess the clue is in the name). As for having a car, not sure pretty much any combo and cab would be transportable by bus or tube so having a car is a given really. They are cheap because they have fell out of fashion and aren't the 'new big thing' anymore.
-
£250 would get a Trace Elliot rig good enough for any pub.
Billy Duffy- The Cult
My first thought as well, but then The Cult as a whole are vastly under rated.
