I bought a brand new one before I moved /: whenever is best for you mate
Thursday and Friday next week are out but other than that I have a pretty quiet week, drop me a pm and we can work something out.
It was very curt and aloof, and the general tone was that 'we will decide who is worthy of playing here and if you are deigned worthy you will be very honoured to be contacted by us'. At first we thought it was a wind up, it was that funny. A simple 'thanks but no thanks' would have sufficed. It reminded me of booking gigs in London in the late 80s.
Makes me think of the 'we're not worthy' sketch in Wayne's world Not surprised you didn't bother with them with that attitude.
Has anyone played The Iron Road in Evesham? We contacted them, being impressed as we were with the venue and thinking that we'd be a good fit for them. The response we received was, er, interesting. Kind of put us off wanting to play there at all.
What was the interesting response?
Impossible to define. because there are biillions of different ears in the world.
But some are definitely more catchy than others, the utterly appalling dross that is Kylies annoyingly titled 'can't get you out of my head' being a perfect example. Stays firmed rooted even if you hate it. Most for me are due to bass lines (not surprisingly I suppose), I must have hummed the bassline for Peaches by the Stranglers for hour after hour after hour and still love it.

Muddy bass sound at smaller venues with wooden floors
T-Bay replied to logicred's topic in General Discussion
Not sure if it's the same problem but I asked on here about playing on a sprung floor recently. The suggestion was to use thick dense foam to insulate the cabs from the floor. I tried with and without and was amazed at the difference in clarity so may be worth a try for you. -
Don't suppose you're any good at soldering are you mate? I'm in Ashbourne and really need my 1977 bass looking at. I had EMG's in it and they've gone kaput. Want to put the original pickups back in but I've misplaced my soldering iron during my recent move /:
I am pretty useful with a soldering iron and happy to have a look for you. When do you need it doing? My best soldering iron is at work at the mo and I am off for a week but my other one should be fine for doing that anyway. If you did want to have a go yourself you can pick up reasonable soldering irons for around £10 these days.
Get KiOgon (of this forum) to build you a new loom.
Any idea of price for one?

Thanks everyone, always good to get confirmation of what you thought.

I need to replace the tone pot on my Mexican precision as one of the know tangs has broken off. Is it worth buying a genuine Fender replacement at comparatively great expense of would a good quality generic replacement do as well? My technical sided mind says a good quality one should do just as well, but I don't want to lose the tone it has.
-
I just looked for someone who would have me, luckily I managed to rope in a few guys from work who all happen to be experienced to the tune of many years. I want people who will put effort in most of all, nothing worse than turning up for a rehearsal and having someone without much idea of what they are doing.

For me it will always be Peaches by the Stranglers.

Trace Elliot and a Marshall Valve amp combo. The TE wins in both oomph and tone butvthe Marshall has a certain sound to it that is very good in some instances.

Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System

Have you bought it yet? You know you want to......... -
I bought a muff pedal off Rob, he refused payment until it was delivered and I was happy with it. It arrived safely and well packaged. Communication was brilliant, item was exactly as described, great guy to deal with, could not ask for more. The perfect seller.
This one does it for me. It sits in my tuner out and is fine and dandy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PT-06-Guitar-Pedal-Tuner-Chromatic-Pedal-Tuner-True-Bypass-for-Electric-Guitar-/401195568828?hash=item5d691e8ebc
That is the exact one I was looking at on AliExpress oddly. There are hundreds on there with subtle differences and no two at the same price! I might give a cheap, one a try and keep my eye open for a tc one at sensible money.

I am looking at making a more compact pedal board for some gigs so will leave out the B3 which I presently use as a tuner. I like the look of the tc polytune2 (3 is on its way I believe) but have spotted cheap ones on AliExpress for about £12-15. Has anyone had any experience of them? A bit wary but also think electronic tuners SHOULD be as good as the circuit design so could be ok. So second hand tc or similar for £30-50 or new Chinese for less than £15?
I think it's nought per cent finance atm
Not so bad then, but if the OP is having to think of things to buy then they aren't really needed so will still end up costing more. But then I don't do credit, I have a mortgage but other than that I don't owe anyone a penny and don't like the thought of it, bit old fashioned in that way I suppose.
-
Or save up and just buy It? That way you won't be paying eleventy million percent interest or whatever they charge.
Buy a good sound with your ears not your eyes.
The best advice there is, and far too often ignored or forgotten.

We are all a product of our upbringing, for good or bad. I was lucky to have a loving home but a very ill father who basically worked then spent every minute off recovering so he could go and kill himself slowly again the next day. I went to a very rough school and spent five years avoiding getting my head kicked in on a daily basis for the crime of listening to different music and wanting to get on in life. I know it has affected me massively because I worry so much about my daughter and spend far too much time working out how the family would survive if anything were to happen to me. I still find myself getting angry when I see things like the abuse of the NHS by the powers that be (it saved my Dads life on several, occasions and I was named after one of the surgeons who kept my dad alive) but I find it helps to have positive ways to use that energy. I am a pretty chilled out sort generally thankfully which helps.

Trace Elliot kit is superb quality and very cheap, a decent combo can be had for around £100-150 depending on model.

What period/style of music inspired you to start playing?
T-Bay replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
Punk was my biggest influence as a young kid (when other eight - ten year olds were listening to the death of disco I was into the pistols thanks mainly to an older brother), but to start playing was the likes of Iron Maiden then the Grunge explosion. -
your first pedal should be a multi coz you need a tuner but that is not fun nor wow, just necessary then u can try all the other effects to see what your next pedal buy will be it doesn't end
This x100, my B3 is still on the pedal board but is used for stuff I don't need very often. I have a couple of pedals the B3 models, one more on it's way and I still looking out for another 3 pedals, one of which is also on the B3 plus the ones I have that the B3 doesn't do. Endless as you say.......
