  1. SOLD Acquired recently but I need to trim down for my house move. I'm looking for a sale but could be tempted by a swap should my other bass sell..... Lots of chat about these, don't need to go on about it really - build quality and range of tones competes admirably with more expensive instruments. The upgrades make this a great gigging active jazz bass. No case is included so postage will need to be discussed, just ask - I do have a hard case for inclusion at extra cost. There's some very positive chat on 'that other bass forum' about the NJ4s (60s wind, RRP £170) and the A Style Hipshot bridge (RRP £80) is a fine addition too. It comes with Rotosound Roundwounds, but will include the almost-new DR Fatbeams it had on it also. Minor damage to the finish is pictured. I'm happy to provide more photos or video walk-through. I also have a fine selection of tea and coffee should you wish to try it out in Bristol :-)
  2. ---- SOLD ---- Aquired this in a trade, I now know road-worn instruments are my thing, but I'm going to be a bit short of space and I have a couple of instruments I need to move on. This is a fine instrument from Limelight (check out the reviews online), stylishly 'reliced', comfortable neck (40mm nut width), vintage pickups and quality components. This is more than a match for pricier Fender road-worn instruments. A Gator hardcase is included, as well as a mirrored pickguard. I can send more photos or do a video walkthrough for a closer look. Clearly the case is preferable for postage, but if you wish to collect or meet up and don't require the case then that can be arranged. I'm not looking for specific trades but if I do sell my other bass, I could be interested in a swap. Get in touch before I change my mind!
  3. Yes, both fair points. I think their recording was somewhat of a DIY affair with own instruments but there's always a possibility it's a borrowed instrument. The P seems to be rare in appearance compared with the J. I'm a novice with production stuff but I take the point about studio and mastering techniques.
  4. I'm not an obsessive fan, but I'm inclined to believe it is. They're not making GnR levels of cash selling out stadiums with endless supplies of guitars!
  5. Met up with Rik to do a swap - now the proud owner of a punchy and very playable P Bass. Another successful transaction with a great BC member!
  6. Bought a bass from Andrew a few days ago; always a pleasure to meet another BC'er in person, even if it was only for 5 mins in train station car park! Great instrument, exactly as described. Cheers Andrew
  7. There's a subtle difference you can spot when compared side by side; the V7 vs V7 vintage videos online would indicate this. Could someone tell my Vintage from the normal V7 live in a band? Maybe....
  8. Yes, last point very valid!
  9. hmm, works fine with Chrome.
  10. Really getting into this band: great album and lo-fi sound to everything they do. Good to see a Jazz bass too! Any ideas of what else might be going on aside from the kit pictured to achieve that sound - particular strings perhaps? No YouTube videos so it's a Spotify link instead:
  11. Etienne bought a pedal board off me; he was very prompt with messages, paid straight away and was a pleasure to deal with!
  12. ON HOLD PENDING TRADE PRICE DROP - £900 In very good condition with a touch of wear on top of the headstock (pictured), in great condition. The frets and electronics are faultless. It was setup a couple of months ago and plays really well. I'm still surprised how light and well-balanced these instruments are. It comes with a Gibson hard case. Postage available but collection in or near Bristol is preferable (and trials are more than welcome)
  13. Hi folks, Moving this on to a good home (I hope). ON HOLD --- Boss BF-2 Flanger - £45 The Flanger is from the early 90's but has had only light use and works perfectly. Some say they prefer this to the newer BF-3. There are lots of videos online to see how it fares. Postage at buyer's cost or collection from in or near Bristol is ideal.
  14. The drummer
  15. Indeed; bassist loops the synth in while playing, pretty impressive!
  16. Oh and stepping into new stuff again..... Death from Above have knocked out another cracker. An excellent bass and drums duo that show the bloated and boresome Royal Blood how it's done:
  17. Seems to be a lot of nostalgic stuff listed here..... As modern rock goes i.e. not dad rock / metal noodling, White Reaper nailed it this year with World's Best American Band:
  18. Not really after either of those chap, let me know if you're interested in a straight sale.
  19. Just been checking these out, thank you Frank!
  20. Thanks again all. This has done nothing to dampen my desire to get a P bass, not sure if I can justify it right now but will see what's around....
  21. thanks folks, the point about positioning does confirm what I thought I had read somewhere. I'd say this would be the "70s" configuration as mentioned:
  22. Hello all, I'm procrastinating as to the purchase of a P Bass; I have an old (and rather good, for me at least) P/J, and having seen several nice looking Ps and P/Js for sale, am wondering the following: Does the pickup placement in a straight P make much (or any) difference to its placement on a P/J? I use the P pickup on its own quite a lot. What does the Roadworn series offer aside from it, er, looking a bit battered? Seem to be a couple knocking around (Fender and a Limelight one at the time of writing). Thanks in advance.
  23. ------- SOLD ------ Afternoon all, For sale is my Rocktron Midi Raider control pedal with box, cables, instructions + Thomann flight case. These were around £400 when they were released a couple of years ago I think, the flightcase being another £95 - grab a bargain! Ideal for effects-heavy performances and for use with the Kemper profiling amp. Trials in Bristol welcome. Postage at buyer's cost, but collection would be preferable. Dimensions: 15.5" wide x 10.5" deep x 3.5" tall Weight: 10lbs Power requirements: 9VAC/1500mA Details here: http://www.rocktron.com/midi-raider.html The Bank Mode has 120 presets and each instant switch can be set up global or per preset. Customize set-up as either 24 banks of 5 presets with 10 "instant" switches (effect on/off); or 12 banks of 10 presets with 5 instant switches (effect on/off); or 8 banks of 15 presets with no instant switches set up. All 15 access switches can also be set up to "instant", operating as a huge instant access "pedal board". Song Mode allows up to 150 songs to be stored with 15 presets per song. The 10 sets allow placement of 50 songs per set. Remote mode automatically programs the footswitch to match Rocktron remote-compatible units. Functions like tap delay, mute, boost and effects on/off instantly appear when connected to a Rocktron remote jack without any programming.
  24. I'm also interested to know, as I'm contemplating the same thing.
