Strats are the guitars I seem to get on best with, though there are so many variations of neck and fittings that simply saying "a Strat" doesn't tell the whole story; I have several, plus copies (a Levinson Blade is my standout). For some reason I don't get on so well with Gibsons; I have an SG and a Les Paul (Studio), but they seem slightly cramped for me. OTOH I had a play on a Flying V last year and I really liked it, plus I've aways wanted an Explorer. I've also got a couple of Teles built from parts (Fender MIM) and they're pretty good. There are some other brands I have too, including Washburn, Danelectro (tuned to DADGAD), Aria Pro (I would like a vintage PE-1000), plus others, but none I would get evangelical about. That's electrics. Acoustic-wise I occasionally pick up my Ovation (they have a specific sound, but are hard to play sitting down) and a classical guitar (which can teach you things about bass playing). So, overall my recommendation would be a Strat, probably HSS, with not too light strings (10s), a not too curved neck (if you want to bend strings), a whammy (just because), and whatever style neck (I don't notice maple vs rosewood) and colour body you like. Fender MIM is probably the benchmark for price vs. performance for me, so I'd suggest those as a comparison baseline.

Hopefully the new government will look at that; they're happy to chase individuals but need to sort out the corporates.

I buy things from Amazon and via eBay if what I want is there. The number of times I've gone into shops to look for something and when I've asked the assistant has advised me to look online... I usually respond with something like "Well, I've come here and would like to give you my business.". Incidentally, I recently went to a shop to look for a piece of HiFi; they said they had one and told me it was storage off-site but would confirm in the week; they called back and said it hadn't been serviced, so I said that meant I was sitting on a £399 bill, but they stuck at the price discussed inthe shop, so I declined. They then put it on eBay and it sold for less. TBH, I'm getting to the point of not bothering with shops, as I'm getting the idea that I'm just wasting my time.

It's possible I got it the wrong way round and they started off being MIJ and then swapped to Italy. I think the edges of the tuner keys are fluted outwards though.

I had an old one for a while; it's common for them to lose the "S" on the tailpiece. The RM shop also did a reissue 10-15 years ago and they really hiked the price (£899.99, I think). This is a 1970 RM catalogue which matches the one in the pic. I think 1970 and those tuners makes it Italian (Eko).

I once saw Todd Rundgren and the whole band swapped instruments for one song. My inclination in this scenario would be to say I'll play guitar on a song.

P = IV Double the current will go to the 4 ohm cab, or 2/3 of your power. (Assuming they're connected in parallel.) As far as Watts to volume goes, the general rule is 10x the power = 2x the volume.

Problem is I just don't like the Hipshot bridge on a Ric; it ruins the aesthetic. I found a use for one I have... Just need a pickguard and my 4000K is good to go!

Interesting… I just don’t get the Babicz, as it only addresses one of the common complaints about the stock bridge/tailpiece combo, but not tail-lift and palm-muting (arguably it makes palm-muting worse). It’s a shame they didn’t do a complete replacement unit.
