I've just been chatting to my mate, who's a lawyer too (really!).

The thing is, I first contacted Jason when he went off on one accusing me of being a paedophile, of which I have a screenshot.

This is the tail-end of the conversation with the intermediary:

I've now received a message via the intermediary.

I have updated my posts in this thread to include the following: I have no interest in posting content which is untrue and have endeavoured to correct anything herein to match that updated information.

Well, well, well; I have received my refund!!! The person who mediated says that he has seen the proof of postage; though I haven't; however, I've no reason to doubt his word. In light of that, my comments about the seller posting it to himself appear to be factually incorrect, though I am still perplexed as to why I wasn't and still haven't been directly given that information. I think it may be appropriate now to take down this thread, but before doing so, I would like to thanks the folks here for their support; I am sure that it wouldn't have happened without your help.

It's not specifically about the money for me, but the act of getting it back would be a small victory. I would certainly not expect the folks here to club together for that amount, though it is an incredibly generous gesture and says much for the spirit of this community. I know that the posts here have certainly raised the profile of the issue and caused certain ructions (not least because the band site has a link to a thread on a neighbouring site).

"Proof" of postage, not proof of delivery (or attempted delivery); he confirmed that the item was returned to him.

I've been assured I will receive repayment by today; it's not there yet, but I guess "by today" could be interpreted as by close of business or even by midnight. It has been suggested that I should take the posts down beforehand, but I responded that if I do that it'll simply be interpreted as "problem solved", so I'm not accepting pre-conditions on having my money rightfully returned.

The context was that the friend is looking to get it resolved and has seen it as part of that.

There is definitely a certain whiff about it.

The current update is that someone I am talking to has been told by someone who knows the man well has seen a proof of posting to an address in Reading with my name on it. But he won't let him see it and he won't give the info to me...

Check the photo on the article and on his FB page. He's also confirmed to me that it was him but says that he took the fall for a sick friend. I didn't believe that, but I'm now chatting with someone who knows someone close to him who has confirmed that is known to them. They are now discussing how to get a resolution.

I've just been chatting with someone on FB who says he knows someone who has worked with him quite a lot and he's very surprised to hear of the issues and background.

It gives the lawyer, which was a possible avenue to pursue.

Amusingly (or not), he's apparently started posting details on Facebook of a convicted paedophile in Wales and saying it's me. (It isn't, of course!) Update 22/12: I have proof of that, BTW. However, some good came of it because someone who thought it was true and gave me a bit of lambasting (and who I proved to that it was not me) turned out to be a mediator and facilitated my refund.

I've posted facts, to the point of cutting & pasting actual content. For an item to be defamation/slander/libel it has to be untrue; truth is an absolute defence against such charges.

Looks like online harassment is one to add to the list; posting comments on my FB page and sending me messages. And all because he wanted to rip me of for £100. He could have earned that honestly in the time he's putting into this.

It's just reporting the post, rather than the overall issue. Actually, that option isn't there.
