  1. Oh, the craftsmanship....
  2. I turned on the telly the other day and thought "That's not bad guitar playing.", followed by "Crikey - it's Clapton; he's usually boring.". It was the Concert for George; he was playing one of Harrison's songs.
  3. You're right - that is a great price. Shame I've already got one.
  4. Aye. Rickenbackers do stereo and there is decent quality (eg. Belkin) stereo cable available.
  5. It'd only be viable if you could do the work yourself. (Or if you happened to have a spare neck lying around.)
  6. That's not bad at all. Have you heard this one?
  7. Folks will happily plug things into patch panels, so why not have adapters.
  8. 3 strings and no frets.
  9. Quite nice looking, but I'd spend a grand of my money on something else.
  10. One thing I do find a bit disconcerting is that there isn't an indicator that the app is connected to the FI; you have to do something and see if it works.
  11. Well, I was just browsing FB Marketplace and there's one of the guitars up for sale. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/708953056617377/
  12. Is it a Rickenbacker you've seen?
  13. Mine's on a board with a CIOKS power supply.
  14. Well, it's an echo of the past, anyway...
  15. I have a Zenta, but it's definitely not the model in the OP.
  16. That is an interesting one - it's a transition 4003, with the truss-rod adjustment at the body end. I'd looked at it earlier in the day, but I don't want to spend more cash just now. (A couple of weeks ago it was a set of Moog Taurus I was having to hold back from buying!)
  17. I've used a Yamaha U16 USB USB-MIDI interface with mine. I've loaded the programs from the FI and controlled the FI (using the app on Windows) and applied a firmware update to the FI. (I already had that, so decided to use it before going to the recommended/tested list.)
  18. It sounds great. However, the strings are quite far apart (4 pairs across the width of a guitar neck), so if I were ding another, I'd probably go for a 12-string.
  19. In my reply I separated out upload/download patches & do firmware updates from control via a DAW. You can think of it as admin vs operations. I think for the first (admin) you will have to go via a USB-MIDI interface. But for the latter (operations), eg. switching patches/banks, you can use any MIDI device which can send PC & CC codes; the ones the FI can accept are detailed in the manual (which I believe @Quatschmacher wrote). So then the question is what can the VB99 do...
  20. That'll allow you to upload/download patches and apply firmware updates. Also control it from DAW software.
  21. We have lift-off!
  22. It's of no interest to me....
  23. As I said, not accepting there is an issue. Somebody else’s problem. Nothing. However, your post there is at least a recognition that the two formats are valid. As mentioned, I have the Morningstar working, so I’m good with that.
  24. I bought a Morningstar MC6 instead, but its form-factor meant I had to sacrifice a pedal on my pedalboard and it is quite chunky (ie. tall) compared to other FX pedals. However, on the plus side, the Morningstar is a much more powerful unit than the one I first tried and can be used to control multiple MIDI devices simultaneously. With it, you can assign (and label) buttons for songs/passages, rather than the specific MIDI codes, so it gives a much more meaningful interface once configured. All I've done to start with is program it to do the functions I wanted from the original unit (Program +/-1, +/-5, Bank Select), but I am sure I'll shift to the meaningful song/passage selection model instead (or as well) at some point. However, I spent the chunk of time I was going to use for programming the FI to fixing that technology problem instead, so I haven't got 'round to doing anything on the FI in the meanwhile. (I did toy with implementing my own Arduino or Raspberry Pi based MIDI switcher, but that would have then turned into the be-all and end-all, rather than making sounds.)
