  1. I've previously bought from them online and at guitar shows; I guess no more, though...
  2. The story of this bass is interesting; I think the bloke built it for a bet and hand-made the lot. The amount of work that went into it is quite staggering and it is certainly unique. However, the sad fact is that it is just not worth that amount of money.
  3. I know it's sacrilege, but I don't particularly like her bass playing. The song ain't bad, IMHO; I could put it next to my Aimee Mann CDs.
  4. Some of the workmanship seems OK, but putting the cheapo tuners makes a statement about its makers' confidence in the product.
  5. Well, it would be possible to get it and re-do its derrière with a proper headless bridge/tuner assembly.
  6. There's a nice glow to that fire.
  7. So that'll be as good as a Fender then!
  8. FYI, I recently bought this rare sought-after vintage lawsuit era guitar. It's an ugly sod and its best feature as it stands is probably the broken tuning key, which means it is unplayable.
  9. I think that the ones which bettered the original were very few. People often quote Tokai as a sort of blanket case, but actually they did a range, so it's dangerous to extrapolate the assertion that some were better than the original to all were.
  10. Flipping it within a week is a bit blatant, but what's been expressed here has been more a raising of eyebrows than moral outrage.
  11. Rare lawsuit vintage pile of poo for sale!
  12. My first bass was a Columbus Jazz, and there was a very similar Grant version. It worked for me for a year or so, 'til I bought a Rickenbacker.
  13. Could be a coincidence, of course... https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-parts/squier-by-fender-neck-for-precision-bass-fretless-lined-neck-only/1332069099
  14. I like the fact that this amazing thread is still going. x2
  15. It's the bit just before that: "From Roger Griffin: If in fact that is Bob Vosgien's guitar, then I certainly did build it". Notice the "if" word there.
  16. Well, I use 2 channels, so I can keep the dry signal, but it's still in unison playing the same notes. Now, if the Future Impact can add in some randomness, then that's no bad thing. But if you are having to do a dance on the pedal you might as well go for a Taurus or something; The Keith McMillen 12-Step allows you to assign 5 notes to each pedal.
  17. It's not that I got bored of stock Rickenbackers, but...
  18. The problem with using a synth pedal is you are effectively (haha!) replacing your bass with a synth and thereby removing the bass. If you want to add an accompaniment then you really need to start playing notes with your feet (or get a keyboard player).
  19. I have a Boss SYB-5 and I find its tracking a bit iffy. My EH Synth 9 is a nice pedal, but perhaps more of an accompaniment (the Oberheim is very good) than the instrument per-se. My Markbass SuperSynth (SS) is really good - great tracking, good sustain, configurable via computer. Its downside is it only holds a few presets. I've not tried the Future Impact, but someone had one at a Bass Bash and it seemed rather good. The other option is synth pedals; I'm just getting to grips with a Keith McMillen 12-step at the moment.
