  1. Well, it's now got people asking who Snot Dextrose is, so it's served some purpose.
  2. I spotted this one on gumtree. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/status-the-groove-5-string-bass-1998/1323903200
  3. I nearly bought a Stick a year or two ago, but the planets didn't quite align, so it didn't happen. The first player I heard with one was Alphonso Johnson, I saw King Crimson when they did some warm-up gigs as Discipline, and I've also got a Jim Lampi album.
  4. Thanks! 🙂 Yes, they are very similar, but the Eclipse is heavier (thicker body). I really want a headless Status 5-string.
  5. ...and the new member of the family.
  6. Here's something on my mapleglo...
  7. Oh no - you've halved its value!
  8. He plays in a rockabilly band!
  9. Wals aren't for me either, but if anybody is looking for a fretless there was one in a shop yesterday. I've bought a few things off Steve and he's helped me out with missing parts & suchlike. http://guitarcentresouthsea.co.uk/Electric Guitars/bass guitars.html
  10. I don't believe it! (My ex used to call me Victor sometimes...)
  11. Funnily enough, the seller was offloading it because his band(s) said it had too many strings. I part-ex'd an Epi EB0 against it.
  12. Well, I got it! First impressions are a feeling of quality...
  13. Haha. I suppose it'll make my set of 5-strings up to 5...
  14. I've got to keep away from bloddy forums - they keep giving me ideas!
  15. There's occasionally a genuine Fender 60s cardboard shim which makes its appearance on ebay...
  16. Oh dear - I've arranged to collect a Groove 5-string tomorrow...
  17. They sound great through your cab!
  18. I've got quads. Well, actually quintuplets!
  19. If everything is right bar that one saddle, you could file down its underside.
  20. Hmmm - it would be easy to fit a push-pull tone pot to switch between them.
  21. I've just fitted a replacement TRS (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) barrel jack to a Warwick; it was n easy job, as it has a solderless connection to the (active) control circuit. If it's an open socket, then Switchcraft are my preferred brand. Sometimes you can fix a loose socket by just pushing in the tangs a bit so they grab the jack plug tighter (but don't overdo it!). (And yes, it is an output socket!)
  22. I thought it was going to be the one selling chopped up kitchen sponges (I kid you not!).
