  1. My 2x10 has a pair of 5" speakers in it too.
  2. Hehe... 🙂 How does the SD sound in a non drop-edged pickup surround? I had one in my 4001, but have now shifted it to a 4003 which is pending completion.
  3. Welcome to the club! A few notes for you: The mono jack socket is the one nearest the strap button and if you plug a mono jack into the ""Rick-O-Sound" one you'll only get the treble pickup. I'm not sure if your one has it, but on current 4003 models the Treble Tone knob is also a push/pull switch, which allows you to switch in the "Vintage" style treble capacitor. The strap buttons are Schaller Straplocks. Don't put too heavy gauge strings on a Ric; I use Swing Bass 40-60-80-100 on mine. Enjoy the Ric! (BTW, the Laredo is a 4004!)
  4. Yes - that one jumped out at me too! 🙂
  5. The main issue will be your back as you try lugging that around. It's got 4x10 + 1x15 speakers in it!
  6. I just bought a Warwick case (for my Warwick) off Dave; I also had a quick go on the Bogart 5-string whilst I was there!
  7. I've got a P-bass which I made from Parts; I really like it!
  8. Someone I know has a dog called Mojo and I was trying to find those sweets, but I don't think you can get them anymore!
  9. On reflection, I think you may be right; generally they can perhaps do with a set-up too.
  10. I played one in a shop and was a bit underwhelmed, I have to say.
  11. Ah yes - CV as well... 🙂 But what are the differences?
  12. Squier is Fender's budget brand, but folks say "ah, but the VM is the bee's knees". So what is a VM?
  13. Probably not.
  14. They're under £60 a set, so OK if you just need an odd one.
  15. Oh no, it's ruined - it's not got the genuine Flea wear'n'tear anymore! I have to say, if I bought one of those I'd have it refinished anyway.
  16. I fink it's a smiley!
  17. I considered buying one and replacing the speakers for a practice amp/cab. But TE now make a compact one anyway (and others do too), so the idea is redundant.
  18. Yep - a bit too rich for me too.
  19. Aye - as I mentioned, I have a couple of other Warwicks which I like. 🙂
  20. Grrrr - I as going to go to this today; it's been in my calendar for a while.
  21. My over-painted Ric shows some of the original fireglo finish, which is slightly worn and shows some of the wood. My 2nd Ric has a blob by the pickup surround where its previous owner used to rest his thumb, and the scars of some customisation work I did over the years. ...unfortunately its original tailpiece was sacrificed to fit a Badass.
  22. Well, my two favourite basses (Rickenbacker & Warwick) seem to feature here! I've never sold a Ric I've had (including one which was my 2nd bass) and I've a couple of Warwick Corvette 5-strings which I really like. As far as basses which haven't worked out for me, I could say: A Warwick Rock Bass 5-string; the neck was the wrong shape for me and it hurt my fingers to play it. An Aria Pro II SB 700; it was a nice bass, but it was very big, quite heavy, and didn't do the sounds I was trying to get it to. I've had a couple of cheapies, eg. a Squier Precision which weren't very good, so they can have a (dis)honourable mention. I had a Hohner The Jack headless, it was black and I had a red strap, so it matched our outfits in a club band I was in. It did its job, but it never sounded great and wasn't fantastic to play. I replaced it with a Washburn Status, which was a stepping stone to a real Status Graphite headless.
  23. Buy it 'cos it's cheap and a couple of weeks later look at it and think "why did I buy that?".
  24. I've got the book now and Manchester's a way away.
  25. My 60s Ric made an appearance at last year's SE Bass Bash. (It's the white one.)
