There was speculation in one group that they might be doing aluminium necks, but maybe not.

Worst Live Act (Pushing it a bit too far)

Linkin Park at the O2 - they were so far away and didn't have screens to watch and the sound wasn't working to the upper tiers where I was;it was an unpleasant waste of time going. -
Worst Live Act (Pushing it a bit too far)

I saw Marilyn Manson at Brixton - the sound was so bad I couldn't even make out what the music beiong played over the PA was before the bands came on. -
I’ve got loads of the mini-LP CDs. Moving Pictures and Clockwork Angels are especially good ones. Sabbath CDs are not so great.

I'm ashamed to say I understood it. 🙂 I use EAC to rip CDs to FLAC and DVD Audio Extractor to rip DVDs to FLAC in either 24 bit 96 or 128 kHz; they reside in VMs on my Linux PC. I've currently got that PC running Kodi as my share, but I'm in the process of replacing the defunct innards of a Naim Unitiserve with a more up to date Mini-ITX mobo to act as a share/ripper. My main HiFi is a Naim NDX streamer via a Hi-Line interconnect into olive 82/Supercap pre-amp and 250 power-amp, and Linn Kaber speakers; I also plan to get an XPS2 for the NDX, as my CDS's XPS won't drive the NDX.

I like the hi-res re-releases, since I've got a decent streaming system. The Beatles Giles Martin remasters are rather good too. Some bands, particularly Black Sabbath could do with a proper rethink of their earlier stuff, as the mix on some is pretty awful.

Is there an issue with Talkbass atm?
prowla replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in General Discussion
I haven't been on the site for a while now; they did an "upgrade" which decided I couldn't set my window size*,so I stepped away for a while. *Well, I could set my window size, but the content didn't resize so I'd just get blank padding to the sides. -
TBH, if the one in the OP didn't have the pickguard you wouldn't be able to tell it was supposed to be a Ric-a-like.

What a load of rubbish! This is way more accurate!

"This BLAH is a must-have for any BLAH looking to enhance their BLAH. With its BLAH and BLAH, this BLAH is perfect for both BLAH and BLAH. Featuring BLAH, this BLAH is ideal for BLAH to any BLAH. The brand BLAH is well-known for producing high-quality BLAH making this BLAH a reliable choice for any BLAH. Whether you're a BLAH or just BLAH, the BLAH is a great addition to your BLAH. Used Condition like New". It's not the greatest ad for "AI" to just do a search and cut'n'paste words or phrases into a generic sentence which tells you absolutely nothing about the actual item for sale. You can see the same description applied to instruments, watches, audio, and even toolboxes. I've taken to skipping over ads which include that drivel, even if it's something I want.

I haven't put anything up for sale on ebay for quite a while now. This might motivate me to have another run at it.

This is certainly an interesting case.

Frankie Boyle looks like he's having fun on the bass.

Can you drag & drop them into the post? (There's recently been a suggestion or rule that pics have to include a Post-It with identifying info.)

Yep - that's it; the Program Change says it does 1-99, which lends itself to the interpretation that it uses the 1-128 numbering convention. It would be good at a minimum to mention that it's using 0-127 but 0 is unused. Now, the "off-by-one" is a known issue in MIDI; according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI: In MIDI, the instrument sound or "program" for each of the 16 possible MIDI channels is selected with the Program Change message, which has a Program Number parameter. The following table shows which instrument sound corresponds to each of the 128 possible GM Program Numbers.[3] There are 128 program numbers. The numbers can be displayed as values 1 to 128, or, alternatively, as 0 to 127. The 0 to 127 numbering is usually only used internally by the synthesizer; the vast majority of MIDI devices, digital audio workstations and professional MIDI sequencers display these Program Numbers as shown in the table (1–128). In other words, the 1-128 convention is supposed to be akin to the real world (ie. you don't stand in the 0th position in a queue, you're not the 0th person to cross the line in a race), whereas the 0-127 one reflects the underlying digital implementation (ie. the 8-bit registers within the device). That wiki page says that the "vast majority" of products display 1-128; by that, the FI doesn't align with the "vast majority" of products and it doesn't have an option to change it. Some better products (eg. the MIDIMan I mentioned earlier) recognise the dichotomy and have a switch to choose. According to this GM2 wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI_Level_2, the patches are numbered 1-128. The issue with the FI is that it's surfaced the underlying implementation 0-127 numbering to the UI, but then the docs suggest the numbering starts at 1. It's only when you try and use it with other equipment that the mismatch is revealed. Anyway, I only spoke up because I happened upon the thead at a point where the assertion being made that nobody had any issues with the FI; I ditched the product and it's not my problem anymore.
