  1. Hehe. :-)
  2. No - I bought it as-is via a facebook group. It's actually a relatively cheap body with a wrap on the front; I guess it must be a branded one, but I don't know what. I thought it'd be kind of contradictory to put the high-end Status neck on it!
  3. My current Frankenstein P-bass: Status Graphite neck Frankenstein body Wilkinson bridge Hipshot Ultralight machines TBD (need to enlarge the holes in the headstock first) Fender Precision pickup Yep - it really is a Frankenstein!
  4. That's a nice example of a Jack.
  5. It was a special model released during the last Recession.
  6. They need to make sure the weather is good! :-)
  7. And the Status group on facebook.
  8. I liked them back when I was a kid. I think there was an issue with the original one with the high-back seat, so a revised version was brought out without the backrest.
  9. Fantastic - thanks! (I'd forgotten about them too...) :-)
  10. I spotted a Kay one over the weekend.
  11. My latest project - a Hondo II It's off to get re-fretted and then I'll be setting about getting things working . I'll probably put a Hipshot bridge on it and a Seymour Duncan (4000 style) from my parts box and I've got to get machines (not sure why there were only three there!) and a nut.
  12. I made a partscaster with a paulownia body. I really just wanted a foray into finishing and it came out rather nice. However, I never felt that it was really up to the job and I won't be buying another made of that wood.
  13. Linn famously use isobaric configurations in their hi-fi speakers, most notably their Isobarik; the idea is that it can shift more air.
  14. Cool - I didn't know about the isobarik speakers.
  15. Try taking sandpaper to most things and it'll kill their value. £200 for a refin is a good price - I was quoted £350 over the weekend for a Tokai Strat (which was too much).
  16. But at least they spelled Squier right, I suppose. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/21-Fret-4-string-Bass-Guitar-Unbranded-squier-style-Right-handed-vgc/183157422443?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49130%26meid%3D6cf83a2fcdc64a05b9981e078844402e%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D323183202774%26itm%3D183157422443&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
  17. Ah - a lovely example of the roadworn look.
  18. I thought it was going to be Spanish - a banjOlé!
  19. What's your location?
  20. Funnily enough, I played a '54 gold top Les Paul yesterday - someone took it into a shop I was in; it was bloody marvellous! I only went in to get a couple of patch leads, I saw a penny in the car park and picked it up, and I ended up buying a compressor pedal (CP-1X).
  21. It's an easy mistake - to have "Made in the USA" on the front and then say it's made in China...
  22. It's advertised as "with Fender neck" and described as "with a Fender neck added", which is untrue. And it's got an an authorised Fender trademark logo on it, which is illegal.
  23. I was just about to post this one! It is being sold as "with Fender neck", but the "Fender Made In USA" headstock has a CY serial number on the back. Either the seller knows it's dodgy or he was duped.
  24. I used to have one in the 80s when I was in a club band; we wore black & red for one set, so I had a black one with a red strap... As for the bass itself, it was OK; I replaced it with a Washburn Status and then I replaced that with a real Status. I'd say £200 is probably top-end for one of them.
