  1. Aye - I've stepped away from a couple of other instruments lately which I'd really like, but they went past my maximum.
  2. (Necro-thread...) I was out and about yesterday and I came across a Burns Flyte bass; it looked like it had been overpainted black which is starting to flake off. The seller asked £795, I said I was thinking £500 and they replied they could do £650. I think that is still too much for me, given the finish, but it seemed OK otherwise, though I didn't try plugging it in (no point if price was off). I don't recall having seen one since they were in the shops in the 70s, but rarity and value don't necessarily go hand-in-hand . Any thoughts?
  3. It's definitely a much sought-after blue label FENDER PRECISION BASS
  4. I did a spotter bid on that - not sure I need another project, though.
  5. When the SansAmp thing happened, I had contact from someone musicians say they hadn’t been paid for gigs.
  6. FYI, an update: a couple of weeks ago I escalated the case with ebay and got a refund of the amount paid and today I received a further refund of the UPS return postage, so I'm at net zero. OTOH, I've not spent much time with the rack and the other power-amp in it, plus I've gone and broken a finger (luckily only my right-hand pinky, but it's still a niggle when I play). On a plus side, I did pick up a rather nice Tokai Strat a couple of weeks ago, which I've had my eye on for a few years, so mustn't grumble...
  7. This is the kind of thing which is handy to take to a Bass Bash!
  8. I tend to use aluminium food trays for this kind of thing and for neck shims - cut strips to size, fold and double-over to required width.
  9. I’ve got an AMT overdrive pedal; it is rather good. £40 seems a ridiculously low price.
  10. It's a Chickenbacker, plain to see. Bidding went up to over £700 before it was pulled; plenty of folks reported it.
  11. They're called lighters because they make your wallet lighter.
  12. Haha: "Sounds great looks stunning and is already a collector's piece." "I recently had it evaluated and the guy said he was almost too scared to handle it as it is such a lovely example."
  13. This year my plan is to spend more time looking at other folks kit - I always seem to get to the end of the day and wonder where the time went! I'm debating whether to bring 8 Rickenbackers (and the Rickenberger) or a selection of oddments. I should have Ampeg SVP & SansAmp RBI pre-amps in a case with a class-D power-amp, if anybody's interested in contrasting them (however, it would require figuring out how to use the controls on the Ampeg!). Also a note to self: don't forget to check the batteries in any actives!
