  1. The other end of the pickguard has been hacked... Well - the strap buttons don't appear to be original.
  2. You do poke the end of the string down the shaft and bend it at a right angle, so there is a little more strength there.
  3. Well - there's a thing. And here's another thing...
  4. I mostly play the 2010 Jetglo and Mapleglo ones in the centre.
  5. This was my selection a while back. The one on the end is a 5-string I bought from @6feet7, but I didn't quite gel with it and sold it back to him a year later when he had seller's remorse. I've now got another jetglo ('88) instead which I bought from some Guy. I may pick up one or two more if/when the right ones pop up...
  6. I'm looking forward to having a go on that at the Bass Bash!
  7. My "Hack-O-Sound" box...
  8. @tvickey Congrats - you now have the best bass money can buy! (I have 8 - I'm a Ricaholic...)
  9. The Japanese ones were labelled "Stereo-Sound"!
  10. Indeed the binding does indeed end at that point; however the split appears to go into the body.
  11. Thanks, but I'll stick to my 4003s. There also seems to be some sign of separation between the neck-thru and wings; curiously it's at the tail-end and I'm wondering if the extra screws in the tailpiece have been badly drilled and gone into the join to cause it. (I think Ric did do them for a while.)
  12. Indeed - Thunders are remarkably good instruments when in the £100-200 range. Asking prices can be above that or way above that and there's different Mks which are perceived to be more vaulerble.
  13. Someone's up to atrics.
  14. Crikey - someone used a Black Eagle neck!!!
  15. Perfect for noodling on...
  16. TBH, I just bung an extra tenner in to go to whatever charity it is. I did miss the raffle last year, though.
  17. Whew! I was just trying to talk myself out of getting another pair of spares!
  18. .357 Magnum for me...
  19. I don't see it as an either/or. I like Rickenbacker 4-strings, with a drop-D eXtender if they fit the model. I like my Warwicks best of my 5-strings. In the past I've used bass pedals to play below E down to C for odd notes. I've also got a fretless, a short scale, one or two guitars (including one tuned to DADGAD), a mando tar, and maybe one or two other things. I've not got to a 6-string bass yet, but I'd likely have low B and high C to cover both ends of the spectrum.
  20. It's almost a Gene Simmons, for 1/100th of the price!
  21. They're flying off the shelves.
  22. And the pickguard is cut away so you can further bask in the quality of the finish across the body.
