I think I'll pass on that.

Fretless Yamaha action. Livingston area.

I have to say that a yammy bass is not something which would tend to be on my “must buy” list. -
Cheers! My loop switcher is a dumb one, in that you press a button and its loop (the in & out directly above it) is enabled, ie. it's not an intelligent one with software configs; that's what I wanted for this setup. Yes, I've detailed it in the pedalboards thread! 🙂
-
Yep - there is no universal rule, of course. If you get an intelligent loop switcher pedal (like one of the Gigrig creations) then you can mix and match at the press of a button. My logic for compressor before synth pedal is to condition the sound for the pedal's input, but it does depend on the bass you are playing. I also view the synth as a sound generator, not shaper; ie an instrument in itself, so that's why 'd put it near the start. I wouldn't tend to put a distortion before the synth, because the synth would then have to track it and essentially strip the sound back to process it. Different players may get a "sound" by juxtaposing the order, which is all part of the fun of it. And yes, the pitchy things would be near the front in my model.
-
My logic is: Input (patch bay, wireless, etc.). Compressor. Signal generators (Synth, Octave, etc.). Distortion. Modulation (Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Tremolo). Echo (Reverb, Echo, Looper, etc.). If you're using a preamp with an Fx loop, then pre- or post- eq is your choice; it depends whether you are looking to define the sound of the bass or the whole chain.

I thought the main purpose of this area was to be a bit of fun and a place post things which folks in their right minds would never touch, either by virtue of being a right Horlicks, being mis-described or fake/counterfeit, or being offered at a fanciful price. I never thought it was a place to direct potential buyers away from the BC Classifieds and I will always browse various sites (here, ebay, Gumtree, FB, Reverb, etc.) to compare prices & availability. My acquisitions over the past couple of months have been 4 items here on BC, 1 on ebay, 1 on The Fretboard, 2 from shops, and 1 via Facebook. -
Yep - the DHA is the one. ... I mean: It really does the vintage valve sound I was looking for. (It takes a non-standard 12V centre +ve power supply, but the red cable from my CIOKS does the job.)
-
So, I went for a DHA and it seems to be pretty much what I was looking for. I've now got the warm/subtle vintage valve distortion and I can also go "modern" with the Microbass 3.
-
I've only had a brief go on the C4, but it's looking good. It's replaced Octave up and down pedals, so that'll be my 1st focus. (The right-hand three pedals were all previously @SumOne's 🙂 )
-
My latest iteration... The signal path is Microbass 3 Fx loop to QM6. QM6 loops:: C4 (I may put a TC compressor in front of the C4, to calm down my Ric's clatter and things; it'll fit in the gap above the DMC MIDI switch there). DHA. Phaser & Chorus. Flashback. Unused (it's an unused on/off control switch, not a loop). Ditto. The C4 has replaced Octave Up (EH Mosaic) & Down (EBS Octabass) pedals, but I need to program it yet.

I'm not sure why there's the no gumtree & elsewhere rule - why's it for? -
Already posted.

It is a conundrum, but then the choice is not to do things.

My shooting club may be instituting tests before meets; it’s not too onerous.

Fender US Precision Pickup - Sold

Everybody selling a Squier seems to thing they've got the one vintage holy-grail one.
-
Another dubious Fender.
-
You’re both wrong!
-
I was just about to post this - maybe the "....er" brand suggests it's a bit ropey! But them machines look Japanese. And the seller has added a disclaimer too. So, could this be yet another dodgy "Fender" item for sale. (But I'm not going to say it, because the last time I pointed something out with a "Fender" logo on it I got insulted and sworn at!)

I swapped my FI for a C4 today.

I know, really. 🙂

I have an EBS Microbass 2 and a DHA VT1 - they both blow the doors off the SansAmp.
