  1. Why can't people be honest in their listings? This is titled "Fender bass guitar" and then in the description it says "I believe is a Korean copy".
  2. I'm a yes - we tend to keep a fair distance apart anyway and we can't be a slave to this damned virus forever. In all honesty, I'm more likely to catch it in my local supermarket than at a Bass Bash.
  3. I've got a couple of old TE GP11 amps - they're great. I've got an Elf - it's great. I've no issues with the company evolving; I do like the fact that the name still exists.
  4. ...in which case it fails! 🙂
  5. What is the point of a bass with headless tuners and a headstock?
  6. £600 may be a fair price, but it isn't cheap.
  7. Mind you, I acquired a DHA VT1 valve preamp over the weekend and that is a hulk of a thing.
  8. Thanks for the info. I might take you up on the trade - will have a think. 🙂
  9. Sure - I keep "meaning to", but I've got plenty of things to do, so it's perpetually shoved to the back of the queue; it's more a question of enthusiasm and if it's a chore to do something which is intended to be for enjoyment, then there'll always be something more interesting to do. Yep - I can easily use the Morningstar with other kit, so all is good there; I've got a rack of MIDI synth stuff to be getting on with (Minitaur, Novation, Roland) and foot & keyboard controllers.
  10. Nope; he made it pretty obvious that he'd let me in under protest and didn't really engage with me in conversation, so I took a quick look around and legged it.
  11. I've missed out on all of the Rickenbacker ads.
  12. I once went to Andy Baxter's on spec without realising I was supposed to make an appointment until I got to the door, so I rang from there and he sort of huffed a bit and reluctantly let me in.
  13. I've also not really gelled with the FI; I had technical issue between it and another manufacturers kit when I first got it and received rather curt replies from both companies which basically told me tough, which resultantly sort of put me off. As a result of that, I've shifted away from the other manufacturer's kit and always seem to have found something else I'd rather do than play with the FI. For the FI, I also found I needed a separate MIDI switcher pedal to make it usable, so I bought a Morningstar, but all I've really done with that is quite basic; that adds bulk to an already oversized pedal. (I did look at the re-housing option for the FI to make it more pedalboard-friendly, but that adds more cost.) I'm tempted to do a "reset" and get a C4 instead, but again I'd be having to buy a not inexpensive add-on MIDI switch (a Disaster Area, presumably) to make it usable. However, the sum space of those two units is less than the FI alone. Maybe I'll take another run at the FI - who knows... (Or maybe I'll get a C4 as well, just to make things more complicated for myself.)
  14. I think there is a point about al of these super-meaningful sub-genres.
  15. Meanwhile, I picked up a DHA VT1 yesterday and on a brief try it seems rather good.
  16. Now that's what I call thread crapping! 🙂
  17. I listened to one of those and the guy was demoing it into an Ampeg SVT - doh!
  18. I've not noticed a dip on my Phase 90. ...but I probably will now you've mentioned it!
  19. I had a brief go on a C4 yesterday and, though the bass I was playing was diametrically opposed to the sound I like, the synth had some great sounds and tracked fine down to bottom B. I'll probably get one if I see one for a good price, or alternatively (a) wait for the upcoming products (it'd be good to have up/down switches rather than having to get an add-on Disaster Area USB switch thing, or (b) swap my FI for one. I'll need to check out its ability to do octave up/down (it was doing sub-octave on the B string yesterday) and modulation (tremolo/phase/chorus/flanger) effects on the basic input signal, so I can clear space for it on my pedalboard.
  20. I have to say I think it's his best sound - the beginning of Highway Star! I never much liked the incognito middley sound he shifted to.
  21. Yep - it's subjective. I've had 3 Hipshot bridges; one I swapped with someone else (and installed it on his Ric), one is on a faker, and one is in my parts box. I do get a bit fed up of people saying the answer to everything is a Hipshot, though...
