  1. Even back then, when I was into rock & prog (and still am!), I liked their stuff (and still do!).
  2. I have one also - it's a bit of fun, that's for sure.
  3. Even back in the day I liked that track, but I could play it, so why doubt it was him? (BTW, it's blocked on YT now.) Here's him, anyway.
  4. Well, maybe I'd run to £150 if it was exceptional.
  5. Good instruments yes, silly prices, no. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-By-Fender-JV-62-Vintage-Precision-Bass-1983-Made-In-Japan-Export-Model/264936709988 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-By-Fender-JV-Series-Jazz-Bass-1980s-Black/154171577014 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-By-Fender-Affinity-Precision-Bass-Pj-Race-Red-Indian-Laurel-Ochanomizu/313278703626 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-MusicMaster-Vista-Bass/143693859155
  6. There’s some nice kit there; I’ve got a partsblaster with a Warmoth body and a Status Graphite neck and it’s really rather good.
  7. Any Squier with a price tag over £100.
  8. "I would swop for a decent.fender telecaster"... ...I bet you would!
  9. Cor - I hadn't seen that ad! My logic for querying which way up was simply the trem bar.
  10. Considering what you can pick up a Trace Elliot for these days, they'd be a way better option.
  11. It is a real problem, all these fake fenders.
  12. "Christmas Ad" - seriously, you're sending me a spam mail to watch your ADVERT !!!!????
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-Very-rare-Custom-Built-Guitar-and-bass-with-all-Vintsge-Fender-Parts/333790419884
  14. An Ashbory; mine is from their Fender period. Actually, there’s one for sale in the classifieds at the moment.
  15. I bought a Fender Precision for £100 this year. It was a punt, though, but it plays fine.
  16. It has a Fender trademarked logo on the headstock; the photos form part of the description.
  17. £177 is a ridiculous price! However, my arms aren't long enough to play a T-bird.
  18. Even though it's only a Squier, I would say those faults are unacceptable for a new instrument.
  19. FYI, a slightly off-track sidebar, to show some of the changes to Rics over the years and also some copies to indicate suitability for a project like this. Here's my selection of Rics, spanning 5 decades; the blue '78 4001 3rd from the left is probably the nearest to his; you can see the horns are significantly wider. Here also are 6 fakers (well, 7 if you include the Kay hiding behind the sofa). The leftmost is a 70s Japanese CMI with thru-neck, the Richthofen is a Retrovibe with Seymour Duncan pickups fitted, the blue, cream, and burgundy ones are barebones Chinese projects in various states off progress, and finally there's the Rickenberger, which is just something I fancied doing. Of those fakers, only the vintage CMI would be suitable for a Lemmy, as the others have the wrong bridge and/or wrong scale length and/or wrong treble pickup position (the vintage Hondo II models also have that). Actually, if you place the CMI and the '78 Ric side-by-side, they are really quite similar. (I may be converting the CMI to a single-pickup 4000...)
  20. The discerning amongst you will notice that the bass has an extra fret; it's likely that's why the fretboard was replaced.
  21. Oh dear - that's not going to be right, as it's got the V2 bridge/tailpiece.
