  1. Close To The Edge is my favourite album. Moving Pictures is a close second. I have 8 Rickenbacker basses. I guess there’s no hope for me.
  2. Did anybody mention "Road worn" yet (I know, really...). The question is whether: a. the bass has been gigged "on the road" and has received natural wear and tear, b. it has been dragged along a road behind a vehicle and so is genuinely road-worn, or c. the poor defenceless instrument has been attacked by a numpty with something sharp or abrasive in the belief that knackering it will add value?
  3. Why do some bassists seem to be so obsessed with sustain? There y'go! In my favoured land of Rickenbacker basses a lot of owners say "fit a Hipshot bridge" to seemingly almost any question. I often ask what it brings and they say "More sustain.", to which I ask what they want that for...
  4. Mind you, on occasion I put in a spotter bid and nobody else bids...
  5. I should be picking it up this afternoon - I'll wave as I go past Hartfield.
  6. "Unwanted present." - wow; next time tell the gifter to just throw some money away 'cos that's all the gratitude they'll get.
  7. I'm thinking they cut & pasted the wrong description there! 🙂 (I can't be too smug, because I've done it myself before!)
  8. I'll put a bid on at the price I want to pay, but if it's below reserve, then I'll just shrug and say never mind. Sometimes getting bidding going is a start in auctions, but it's all a bit of a faff.
  9. This is my 12-step sat on a Pedaltrain Classic Junior. The power supply and MIDI interface fit underneath.
  10. So, if I have a Minitaur and a set of PK-5A, is it worth replacing them with a Taurus 3?
  11. Not sure it was a steal; some money needs to be spent on it to sort the electrics and some correct knobs, but the J pickup bay has wrecked it. OTOH, I suppose it could be parted out.
  12. Those Squier/MIM/Highway One tuners look like they've had a hard life...
  13. I once bought a bass from a car boot sale which was covered in stickers (even the neck!); it took me ages to get them off. Looking at it, though, the extra J pickup has been badly added and is off-centre, so there's no tidying that up once the stickers/paper have been removed.
  14. Maybe it had a drop-D eXtender on it and he decided to keep that.
  15. I've been watching that - not sure if I need another project at the moment, though... Half the electrics are missing and brass knobs aren't cheap.
  16. "Heavy relic" makes me cringe.
  17. I'm always on the lookout for Roto strings to make up sets, but ebay have f'd up the Saved Searches page and I must've missed them.
  18. There's this one going as well - more of a Status neck with 6 holes drilled and a questionable body included. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Status-Graphite-Bass-Guitar-Neck-and-unbranded-j-type-bass-guitar-body/284025046948
  19. A J with an MM neck... I think I'll stick to my J/Status/John East...
  20. It is a bit of a monstrosity, isn't it.
  21. I've got these which my PK-5A can drive. Peavey Bass - some really good canned sounds, including a deep rich piano. Minitaur - what it is. 2x Roland JV-1010, one with a synth card and one with an orchestral one. I've not got so far with the JV-1010s yet, TBH.
