Yeah i agree. I've got elixirs on my pbass (which tbh I don't use often) and def find the dragon skin plus more flexible and responsive. More "bounce" If that is a thing?!? 26 quid sounds mega value, nice one. Think I paid 33 or so but that's still way less than elixirs and similar to low riders which are what I'd been using on my main bass previously. I'll try to remember to report back in a couple of months re how they're lasting.

Tried a set of these as I saw they're relatively recently introduced and my low riders needed replacing. Figure I'd try something coated to see if they last much longer, which can only be a good thing, right. Got the "quantum" nickle 45-100 set and fitted to a sandberg california tt4. As far as im concerned this is a great match. The bass is already pretty bright and clear but these seem to have tightened up the low end further and just sound great to my ears. Maybe not to everyone's taste, of course. They did seem to have a bit of friction against the fingers to play straight out of the packet but after playing in for an hour or so it's either gone or I no longer notice it. If they last well, then I've probably found a string I'll stick with. For now. Wonder if anyone else has tried them and their thoughts.

Was looking for some delano pickups for my p bass which weren't shown on BDs website but saw that they did stock other delanos so emailed on the off-chance they could get hold of them. Really helpful and friendly and they did order them in and now recieved a few weeks later. Great service.

Ah interesting didnt know it was the same. Thanks for that. The pmt one has decent enough reviews so I think I'll go for it. Cheers.

Got some vouchers for guitar guitar and want to get a hard case. For bass they have one by Ordo, which isn't a brand I've seen. Anyone got experience with this? Would be grateful for a steer. Thanks. Would be carrying a sandberg california. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/220302382248027--ordo-gc-2geb-deluxe-electric-bass-abs-hard-case?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIh-KtyejEiQMV5olQBh2deAWYEAQYAiABEgKSAfD_BwE

Seconded - great looking bass. Congrats on the purchase. I've got a Sandberg and adore it.

Thanks for this info. I'll do the same.

I have exactly the same issue, did you order a replacement? Cheers.

I've fairly recently purchased what (to me, at least) is my first really nice bass - a Sandberg TT4. My somewhat obsessive nature coupled with how much I'm loving the instrument has got me thinking about how and where I keep it. I basically have two options: 1. In a garden office I have. The building is insulated and has heating but we only use the heating when the building is in use so it will definitely be getting cold in there at night etc. I.e. environment where temperature probably fluctuates a fair bit. 2. Upstairs at home - with me and the wife taking showers in the morning and the kids having a bath in the evening. I.e. environment where probably humidity fluctuates a fair bit. Imagine it's all a question of fact and degree, but out of interest just wondered if there was any thoughts about this.

Each to their own of course but it doesn't all work together for me. I think the silvery pickups are the offending element (or are those in the pic some sort of blank because you can spec it with various different types?).

NBD Sire V5R 24 fret - pick up / bridge/ tuners recommendations
Jamieboy replied to Duroc17's topic in Bass Guitars
Saw a video of lowendlobster saying the gotoh GB528 tuners are a lightweight drop in replacement for sires which doesn't require any drilling. Considering them for my P5. -
Thanks all. Loving it more and more.

Can't believe I've done this. I've been playing for 25 years or so (with a gap of a few years in the middle) but I'm no more than an enthusiastic amateur. My main 'gig' is in the band of my church. Always said that one day I'd love to get a really nice bass, and that day has arrived. Sold my previous pride and joy (motorbike) and have put some of the funds to work on this. Just had delivery of this beautiful Sandberg California TT4 in aged rochfort blue. Just getting to know it a bit, but overjoyed with first impressions on noodling about with it! I love the attention to detail which has clearly gone into the aged finishing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried swapping polarity, checking connections and wire routing and generally inspecting the original speakers as best i could, but ultimately couldn't get them to sound right. I've put the Fane speakers back in. They do sound good so ultimately I at least have a functioning combo. Unfortunately it's still at 4 ohms so I can't extend from there. In future I'll probably look to source 2x 16ohm speakers to use. Or just stop fiddling around and buy something else completely.

I seem to have managed to bugger up putting the original speakers back in. They sound fine on higher notes but there sounds like there is a sort of buzz on the lower notes. I thought it might be that I hadn't tightened them enough and the speakers themselves were vibrating but tightened it further and not improved. Upset with myself as I should have left it alone...

OK, suck and blow - got it. Thanks for the advice, will give it a go.

Thanks for looking mate. Just to check... if I did connect them the wrong way around would it just not work? Or would it cause very bad things to happen? If the former I can just give it a whirl and work it out, but just acutely aware of my lack of knowledge in case the latter applies!

Slightly randomly ressurecting this thread years later as I bought the bg208 modified with the Fane speakers and now want to put original ones back in so I can use an extension cab. Does anyone know Where the yellow and green wires from the extension socket need to be connected to? I can't see the originals pics which were in Grandads post above (and I've no previous experience of this sort of thing at all). I guess it must be the lower speaker but don't know which way around to connect them. I could do some trial and error but worried it might cause damage (?) if I do it the wrong way around, so thought I'd ask and see.... Thanks.

Hello. I've not posted on here for several years (kids, job etc) but have just got a new bass so thought I'd put something up as im always interested reading others NBDs. I tested this against a 40th anniversary vintage squier in the shop but for me the sire was hands down nicer to play, and a bit cheaper. I've not owned a load of basses(think this is my 4th, over the last 30 yrs or so) and none of them have been expensive ones but the neck is certainly the nicest I've ever felt. I marginally preferred the look of the squier but thought the sire looks much better in the flesh than in pictures (but have included a rubbish pic in any event 😉). In my limited experience id say it sounds a bit brighter than tje stereotypical p bass sound but still sounds good to me. I play in a church and thought it fit in well tonally when playing with the band with the tone about halfway. I noticed its a bit lower output than my squier VM Jazz. Im pleased with it and think its good value for money.

Thanks mate. The case was just the one the bloke had who sold it to me. It does fit perfectly. It doesn't have an obvious brand though so can't be very helpful on that one, sorry.

Good point. Hope this works...

Thanks guys I've only had 2 basses before this and this just feels right somehow. Rexel matador- the vmj is marginally heavier than my ibanez 5 (which I've always considered to be light) but it is certainly not a heavy bass. I read on here that there is some variation and I think it happens to be on the lighter side.
