**EDIT** Also will sell looking for £460.00 Posted £435.00 if picked up Have a Fender Jazz Bass Hard Case which I will include for £510.00 Posted £485.00 if picked up Hi there, looking to trade my lovely Fender All Blk Jazz bass. Ideally looking for a Musicman Sub 4 or similar. Musicman bass or a decent P Bass (US/JAP) Or a decent amp, preferably a pretty good combo Will consider other offers for 4 string basses only, but if you offer me a cheapo bass it's going to be no, so equivalent in value only please (somewhere in the £450- £500 region) Thanks Oh and since these photos were taken I've had a black Badass II bridge fitted to it Here are some pics
Just out of curiosity, is the Fender Jazz bass you compare it to a US, Mexican, or Japanese bass?
Mine is a Japanese Jazz Bass I've had Mex Fenders before and I'd say the squier stands well up in feel, maybe not quite in tone to my Japanese jazz
Even though I have no money I actually do want this. Watching it and planning a bid.
Good man, it's not a bad little bass. Good luck too. I would have punted it on here, but they can hang around for a long while on the forum and I've been naughty and bought it's replacement before I'd got rid
I found my bubinga corvette to be the heaviest bass Ive ever owned, hows yours?
It is heavy alright, but not a great deal of difference between it and my Jazz Bass. Had an Ash 5 string 'vette previously which was a featherweight compared to this. Nice bass though loving it
you'll piss off everyone if you learn to slap ..
Arf That said a little slapping every now and then does you good -
I started by just going cold turkey and dropping using a pick entirely, until I'd gotten the hang of fingerstyle. Now I can swap back and forth quite happily although I still need more practice
I may end up doing that, but only in personal practice cos it would annoy my bands while I made the transition -
To start with it's just a matter of getting a good clean, consistent note while alternating between your index and middle fingers(you can add a third finger if you want).Just going up and down the open strings is a good starting point. At a slow tempo, and on one note,go from playing crotchets for 4 bars,to quavers,to semi quavers. Take it steady at first and aim for accuracy rather than speed. Then try crossing strings. Try playing some major scales both ascending and descending, while paying attention to your plucking hand. You can try the previous exercise with scales if you want. Then you can try mixing it up with different intervals-thirds,fifths and octaves are a good place to start. Don't try and rush things. Aim for accuracy by playing the notes cleanly, and concentrate on finger alternation. Speed will naturally come over time.
Sounds simple doesn't it? My main problem area is swapping strings so the major scale exercise should be a big help. Thanks for the reply -
Hello all. I've been playing for about 4 years or so now. Most of my playing has been punk or rock orientated so I've always used a pick and didn't start out using my fingers. Has anyone got any top tips or good exercises to start playing with fingers? Links to decent learning material would be most welcome. Thanks Gary
