  1. Oh and table might get refinished in oil if I can be bothered in the spring!!
  2. Not going to attempt contouring - don’t have the right tools or inclination/skills to do a convincing job. Going to concentrate on the finish and the build up for now I think!
  3. And the body.. Lovely bit of wood. Rear control cavity all done and I have a box of bits now including a pre-shaped cover plate for it as well!
  4. Got my knobs out for @Hellzero Yeah - slight mismatch but close enough for me and given the total cost of the bits was £3.50 then I'm more than happy!
  5. First up is the neck.. Very nice it is too. It's had a light oil coating on the board (as I think this was originally intended for another project - and I got them for bargain basement pricing). However, a wipe of acetone should get rid of it if I want to redo with something else, which I may well, but it's going to be a simple satin oil and rub down for the finish..
  6. Some packages also turned up today...
  7. The white balance is completely off - I need to take them outside to photograph properly. As you say, it's close - not perfect, but close enough.
  8. Pickup covers have turned up - they do appear to match the knobs @PaulThePlug !
  9. Apparently some of the crimson oils grain fill as well.. so we shall see. I’m always up for experimenting - I once grain filled a guitar with egg white
  10. I read he pined after it...
  11. I'm tempted to try the Crimson shots and thin them with Isopropyl Alcohol. I also quite like their vivid colours as well - but mostly I want to try their finishing oil as it looks superb. The yellow in that body will really pop with a bit of a build up of finishing oil. You using Tung? I think Tung gets absorbed a bit too much for a deep finish.
  12. Spirit Stain Rainbow Colours?
  13. Dunno, but he’s having a retirement clear out in the new year so he may well do then!!
  14. I think I’d prefer a yellower green, but yeah, that’s nice. The top isn’t figured so it will be a lot less interesting than that.
  15. Yeah, that's tempting. As is a nice green over black, or a lighter green over Teal/Aqua
  16. Or, a darker blue bass with a lighter green accent
  17. Yes. Green was def. on the list. I'm wondering if a blue/aqua/green mix on a black base might work..
  18. Looks lovely - and I do like a lovely natural bass (see above!) but I think I want to apply a colour stain this time - so similar to that, but with a colour (or two) to it..
  19. Cream pickup covers ordered. Bass and Neck being shipped out today as well. Next job is colour scheme for the body and then work can commence!
  20. Another bass? Another Jazz? Can’t be another Medium Scale as I’ve never had one before
  21. Presumably it does until your fingerboard resembles Ypres..
  22. Those of us with fretless basses would possibly suggest that flats preserve the fingerboard a little better than rounds, and of course gentlemen don’t slap on fretless.
  23. Imagine my disappointment on discovering that an anagram of Shuker Uberhorn Fretless is: Southerners Berk Flusher
  24. Tuner choice made. Had to decide on hole placement and size so the builder could drill.. so have gone with Hipshot Ultralites.
