  1. As a full fat helix owner I'm in two minds on this one. I'm seriously considering a Stomp (Mrs B has her eyes on it as xmas pressie for me) but I doubt I'd pick it exclusively over the full fat. I use my helix at home, for recording, mic input, multiple outs, and all sorts of other stuff. It's on the floor under my desk and gets used every day. A Stomp wouldn't cut it. That said, I'd use it live all the time....
  2. I did, but decided to stick with the uni pre - I have one on the shuker and it’s just what I was looking for. I guess I’m sticking with what I know for this one. Course, I could always swap it out for a DFM later on
  3. Having recently heard the cracking sound of a neck splitting, I can feel your anxiety.. I think that sound will haunt me for a long time!
  4. Would a Stellartone Tone Styler do the job you are looking for but without the requirement for two pots and a switch?

    Hello

Welcome! Some great sounding basses you have there!
  6. To be honest it’s laziness. Well, laziness and ease of chucking in the car. Well, that and forgetting speaker leads. Of course, I’ve never done that *honest*
  7. @Al Krow as an on topic aside - I’m tempted to say the veyron would really suit the barefaced Compact I have as a backup. I’d like a combo for convenience, but I do need a head for the barefaced that isn’t valve based entirely
  8. I clearly had an “eh?” One. I made up for it with a stunning songwriter deluxe, which was exceptional. I sold it cos I’m a d1ck
  9. Well well - that’s interesting to know. I particularly liked the VLE control. Damnit I need to look out for a used one otherwise I’ll have the spill the full beans on a new one!
  10. J-200. Had one. Was really disappointing.
  11. Mrs B plays drums... she has the monopoly on loudness in the house 😂 I’ve had an LMIII - liked it a lot - not even sure why I got rid of it tbh!
  12. I don’t think it was the songwriting credits he was referring to tho...
  13. But George always protested that old Andy Ridge did far more than it appeared on the vids..
  14. I presume the “other instrument” is the exhaust note... or the fact it gives you the horn?
  15. Hahah! Now both ACG and @Andyjr1515 are both builders I have to restrain myself over - otherwise there’s too much gushing.
  16. Sigh. Yet again another decidedly average build by @Andyjr1515 😂 (of course, it’s FAR more than an average build!!!)
  17. Dunno how that would help glue a Fretboard on tho?
  18. Yep - and she was famed for her clamping action!!
  19. M6 + VK210 doesn’t surprise me at all. For me, given I only use a full rig quite seldom (as I’m usually frfr or DI) I really do want a lightweight option. If only Mesa did a Subway combo...
  20. A while ago, I bought a Strat guitar body from Warmoth in black limba. It was a beautiful looking body - but went when I decided guitar wasn’t my man chosen instrument and I flipped back to bass. Since then, I’ve always thought a black limba bass would be a great thing.. Alan advises that the highly figured stuff can be very heavy, so I’ve gone for a lighter figured body with a more heavily figured top with a black veneer line. Matching black hardware to complete and we are pretty much there! Can’t wait to see how it progresses!
  21. The only thing I keep thinking about is the weight... if I’m honest, I’m worried that anything over 20kg won’t get used as my back would just protest too much. And you know I’ve got half an eye on the Alain Caron Lite as well - quite a bit under 20kg... Plus, you know you don’t need a veyron.. you just need to use that head with your VK210.. I keep telling you, you’ll regret it
