  1. I always thought you were meant to turn input volume up to “just below where it starts to clip” - or is full on with clipping part of the successful formula?
  2. Welcome! As a long term sufferer of Dipas we are all here to help and support you, brother
  3. I wonder if the term Hifi has been purloined to describe home stereo system speakers and that old “home Hifi” term whereas in fact it should be different - after all high fidelity should mean faithful reproduction of the original which it sometimes doesn’t!
  4. I think nearly all reasonable studio monitors are flat - certainly mine are and they weren’t particularly expensive - but I’ve had a few home Hifi speakers which definitely weren’t flat - they were bass heavy and a bit mid scooped
  5. Absolutely - even some studio monitors seem a bit coloured to me. You have to pay a lot of cash to get true reference monitors - and actually home Hifi speakers in the lower price brackets are often the worst offenders for colouring sound!
  6. Older seems to take longer to dry properly I find - or even that it doesn’t quite dry as strongly or properly. That’s just my limited experience of it though!
  7. I’ve used the k10.2 in a rehearsal room with a drum kit and with 3 guitars into 3 guitar amps - mostly valve combos in the 50w range but all capable of being very loud if needed. The k10.2 was fine. I wouldn’t have wanted to have to give it much more oomph, but it was more than enough for the Jam session I was playing in.
  8. Presumably if nobody buys it we could pile round there and claim salvage rights..?
  9. Controversial! Are you listing “body” under personal preference? (I do kinda agree but I can’t do the stick type basses - well, I don’t think I can)
  10. True - I’ve seen a few basses though that say they are passive but actually it’s just an active eq bypass and although good for getting a passive tone, it all goes south when the battery goes!
  11. I wonder how deep they are and how easy it would be to route them in a solid body with curvy sides? It’s a great concept but I’d Probly end up forgetting to change the battery 🤣
  12. I’m in the Dominican Republic at the mo - all I can say is Mamjuana. It’s locally called “rise the snake”
  13. Getting a simple and effective unit on a solid body in a position that’s viewable when playing is hard - acoustics have the big slab side to fit them in easily and they are viewable when playing
  14. Does that system work if the battery fails? I’d want a failover - battery failure means passive mode with working passive tone control. John East’s work like that and have a separate passive tone knob - but for it to do failover (in case of battery failure) the passive tone works all the time
  15. That sounded more like an audition and not a Jam. I help run Jam days for another well known guitar forum - I’ll learn about 20 bass lines preagreed and play them on the day a couple of times through. We get ability range from total beginner to very competent (one guy did a cracking job of the guitar solo in Beat It) At the end, without fail, I get 20 or 25 guitarists who are very happy and all personally thank me for coming along, playing, and putting up with their playing. We usually have a good drummer and a keys player so it always holds together. It’s all about expectation I think...
  16. Can he edit it to add some stuff in to make it last more than 30 seconds?
  17. To be fair, though, there’s few other bands that will have you with your hurdy gurdy
  18. How far are you prepared to go? My go to is Steve Robinson (Manchester Guitar Tech) - he’s a way away but he is exceptionally good - he would do a setup at the same time and get it playing beautifully
  19. Do you do what my wife does and get them all out over the bed and bedroom floor and then protest that “you just don’t have anything to play”?
  20. I’m guessing nobody is going to post a new guitar day with this one then..
