  1. I remember when this site was in black and white
  2. Yep. Tutmarc 736 in 1935 was definitely the first. It wasn’t popular, and didn’t continue for long. I suspect that the reason the 51P bass did succeed was because it was more playable, sounded better and was easier for upright bass players to convert to.
  3. Even it’s mother would have trouble loving that...
  4. No problem - I wasn’t very clear in my description I’m used to the Shukers side markers but see little point in having them right across the board
  5. Bet it matches his tinfoil hat...
  6. I have side line markers on my Shuker - that's actually what I meant!
  7. That's a shame. I think my first choice is an ACG (fretted or fretless) but like I said - got to shift some of this kit here first! The 74P and the EICH head need to go really.
  8. I thought you’d withdrawn it tho? I need to move the 74 P on first!
  9. Yeah, that's quite nice, isn't it? I think I'd prefer lined... but then again, there's some mighty lovely fretted 5's on the ACG site...
  10. I've got some gear up for sale at the moment. It's all stuff I've just not used for a while, so it ought to go, and hopefully it is.. Recently I put my big boys pants on and got a fretless. It's brilliant and I'm loving the fretless thing. Now, I'm wondering if I should go even more big big brave boy and get a 5 string. And then I think "maybe I could get a fretless five?" 🤔 But maybe I should do a fretted five first, cos, well, that would be less brave, wouldn't it?
  11. What are you GASing for at the moment?
  12. Sort of difficult to answer that, as it depends on the pre, how the valve/s is/are used and what you are hoping to get out of it. If executed well it can really add to the tone - I have a Dave Hall preamp pedal with a 12AX7 in and it fattens and warms the tone a surprising amount. It also gives a very natural and valve-y drive tone compared to an all-solid state preamp, but there is a bit more noise.
  13. Behringer themselves have confirmed that the 2000w is peak output - and in tests it peaks at around 1800w so it's close. However, they also do confirm if you ask them that RMS Constant output is in the 400-500w region as stated above. The thing is, the headline peak figure is also a bit misleading, as in normal circumstances and playing, it's extremely unlikely anyone would ever exceed 900w peak. But, as has also been stated, it's still remarkably cheap for a valve-pre 500w @ 4 ohms.
  14. I'd say the only reason to choose a Stomp if you already have a Helix floor is one of size/weight - both for portability and for taking up room on stage. If your current setup is easy enough to move about and you don't find the helix floor on stage to be too big/take up too much room then I don't think there's any real reason to get a Stomp
  15. Just north of Peterborough. If it was fretless I wouldn’t be selling it
  16. Er. No. That’s not what I meant.
  17. I’m sure we will be fine.. given that Australia are in the Eurovision Song Contest
  18. No worries. Happy to help a fellow out in pursuit of their niche
  19. That seriously needs some lemon oil on it...
  20. If he could post to me I could post to you. I might even be able to collect it😄
  21. Espadrilles are where it’s at these days. Especially for mountain walking on the continent
