  1. Having set up many a P bass pickup, I’d say that the angles in the photos (although quite big) are not beyond reasonable. It depends on the strings, the pickups themselves and the types of magnets/poles/windings as well as fb radius and so forth. As has already been stated, play it for a bit and see how it is - if one string seems quieter than the others then raise that bit of thebrelevant pickup a bit. The pickup will be seated on springs so turning anti-clockwise on the screw will slowly raise it, clockwise will lower it
  2. I really should see if they are being made
  3. I think they are on order... I know that’s vague, but I’ve not heard from the maker for a bit (and that’s not unusual)
  4. It's just my personal opinion, of course, but I don't think it's worth compromising on amplification. I think a dedicated bass amp is the way to go every time. For practice, at home as well. The other alternative is a Preamp/DI or some sort of bass specific interface that can go to a PA style speaker. A guitar amp will always be found lacking.
  5. I don’t really understand why anyone would compromise on strings - they are integral tone, feel and quality on any bass. Given the longevity of flatwounds it seems a false economy to not get the set that does the job for you. We spend so much on basses and amps, and I’ve spent more on cables and wireless systems than I ever have on strings....
  6. Might be a trek - I’m Lincolnshire - but I do get down your way from time to time
  7. Yeah. You know those people that can’t spell Fernandes but accidentally write Fender.. Uhuh.
  8. They’d have troubled my ears
  9. It’s a damn good job you didn’t!
  10. What do I get as a “prize”? The frank Sinatra back catalogue on 78’s?
  11. Ah, I get it now. Rock n roll is rubbish.
  12. It’s listed in the Classifieds! I can’t force someone to buy it! (Or can I? Is that a feature I’ve not unlocked yet?!)
  13. I need all the help I can get...
  14. I’m not sure I even know what.... nevermind
  15. I’m not sure I even know what rock n roll is...
  16. I'll have a look at the MB - looks like it's the same weight as the Stage 800. The big draw of the stage 800 was I cynically thought the modelling would be crap - then played the studio 40 in a shop - and crikey it was good for it's size and price.... I actually think I'd struggle to find a cab I like more than that vanderkley... it's just so, well, complete
  17. Two fingers is the norm - as you are starting out, I'd recommend reading up and watching videos on the 'floating thumb' technique - I found it really helped to nail it early on.
  18. I'll accept no offers unless they include an um-bongo and a fry's chocolate cream..
  19. Hang on, I thought the Prime Directive was to not interfere with the primitive development of new drummers when encountered in the wild....?
  20. Yeah. It's currently doing small-valve-head duties but after this weekend using the Vanderkley I think it has to go. I'm gassing for one of those Fender Rumble Stage 800's as a one-box-one-thing-to-carry general purpose amp..
  21. I tried to sell my BF Compact on here a while back and I'd have been lucky to get a packet of Wotsits and a Topic for it...*sigh*
  22. Really? I'll pass then...
  23. I'm not sure I even know what Rock n Roll is.....
  24. You can't have all the nice shiny stuff. Leave some for the rest of us. (Except for the Abstainers as they shall now be affectionately known )
  25. Are they made of ticky tacky?
