  1. I was thinking more around £1k for my short scale Gibson fetish, and also looked at Rivolis as well - all far too much money! I’ve got two basses that were well North of £2k and I’m not sure Mrs B would tolerate a 3rd
  2. Gaaaaaaah! Yes, I’d have one. Might be too rich for my blood but I’d have one
  3. That looks nice! I’ve not played a Gibson one so I have no frame of reference at the moment
  4. Are they good? I do like the idea of a “real” Gibson, but if too spendy then maybe!
  5. Sorted my recording valve head ordeal out. Phew. Now onto the next one. I have a hankering for a shortscale Gibson ish bass. I think. I keep looking at the early 70s slothead eb-0’s and thinking that dull voluminous thunder would fit in nicely as an oddball option. Then actually I think I just need a Gibson to round out the collection a bit. Or something like it. Or maybe sort of like it. Ish. Oh god, help me out here.
  6. My 64 is def. No1, but I have a '74 for my YOB 😜
  7. As a cheap build I tried the two spare p guards I had - They are cheap as they are free Agree tho - a single ply black would look good
  8. I’ve been looking for a while and at £500 I couldn’t quite justify it - but £300 is basically the same as a decent Preamp Di so a lot more justifiable!
  9. Well, I got order confirmation - just waiting for delivery confirmation. They are a bricks and mortar place so no real risk - I did PayPal so I can just reverse if it’s a no show as it’s on pay after delivery.
  10. I simply can’t think of anything I’d swap it for...
  11. Beautiful. My number 1 is a 64 - also full of character with knocks, dings, dents, worn patches, lacquer checking and flaking, a shrinking pickguard and rusting hardware - but I wouldn’t change a bit of it.
  12. I’m near Spalding... my band is based in Loughborough...
  13. Is that one of those lil chillies you got there?
  14. That body colour is nearly swamp ash with a tinted danish oil finish as well..
  15. You got one of those 4’ 6” scale basses then?
  16. Someone had binoculars in the venue?!
  17. Just as an aside here - following an enquiry - the damage on the front isn't damage - it's polished out, so it's just the 3 divots on the back:
