If I am right the sizes of USA and Mex can be different. Imperial vs metric.

Aerosmith retire from touring
SurroundedByManatees replied to bassbiscuits's topic in General Discussion
They've been in action for almost 55 years... At one point it's likely that there happens something that makes a band quit. They are one of the first bands I started listening when getting interested in good music (around the age of 12). Get your wings was the first album I got on cdr from an uncle with a massive rock/metal collection. Along with the early Metallica stuff. I still prefer Aerosmith's '70s albums generally. The only time I saw them was in a medium size venue in the Netherlands in 2010, with reunited Stone temple pilots as support act! They were great, as was STP. -
1972 Jazz Bass - Verification of a few things
SurroundedByManatees replied to TheStarsmith's topic in Bass Guitars
At first sight; 100% refinish and non original pickguard. I can't read the potmeter dating, if they don't read '72 it would be nice to know how they got to that year. Very strange that they don't mention the refinish and changed pickguard (should be tortoise or white usually, depending on original finish, also thumb rest holes on top are wrong). I'd say it's ridiculously priced all in all for a non original kinda early '70s bass ... -
The 2 jazzes I currently own; Custom Shop '66 in aged firemist silver, and an ESP 800 series (messe '91). Both are terrific.

It's not a direct answer to the question, but: Maybe it could also be that you are using a different type of strings? This can make a difference.

I´ve had this bass listed before but withdrawn it from sale, Here it is again as I really need to thin out my collection a bit. Modulus BassStar SP24 1989 For sale is my beautiful Modulus Bassstar with Koa body. These are pretty rare. The bass has been used a lot, which shows. The body has a lot of small damages and usermarks. The neck is in good condition. All hardware and electronics (vol, pickup select, bass/treble) work like they should. Playability is good. It’s quite a light instrument with its 3,8kg. Fixed low price €1700 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I could ship anywhere at buyers risk and expense.

Is it listed as a '68? In that case you're sure it's a scam. Anyone who is interested to date it, would probably also use Google to look up some estimate value. The concern of the bank probably says a lot too.

It could well be a '66 by the way. In the ad they say all necks we're having binding from January '66 and on. On production level this could be true, but can't be used for exact dating. I've owned a bass with pots dating to week 12/66 with a '65 unbound neck. And that is not unusual, I've seen them a quite a few times being on '66 basses. Apparently there was a stash of '65 necks that made it well into '66. Looking at the lollipop tuners, I'd be tempted to take this as an indication that this bass has been finished in '66, as that has been a feature the mentioned '66 basses w/ '65 necks had in common.

032367 is the Fender partnumber, the week/year number is covered in solder.

What Guitar would a Bassist grab?
SurroundedByManatees replied to StickyDBRmf's topic in General Discussion
I've got an Epiphone Joe Pass, which is a very nice guitar. Otherwise I'd feel at home with a strat or Fender offset models -
Beautiful handmade bass by Mirel. It's a light weight, modern interpretation of a Jazz Bass. Specs: - Alder body with bookmatched Olive top - Quartersawn maple neck w graphite rods - Ziricote fretboard w/ medium frets - 34" scale, 24 frets, 40mm bone nut - Hipshot B bridge - Hipshot Ultralite tuners - Aguilar humcancelling pickups - 3,64 kg The bass is in used but good condition with great playability. Soundwise it's like a good, little bit different jazz bass. Sounds are great with both pickups engaged or with the pickups solood. Especially the bridge pickup does a nice job solood imo. A generic hardcase is included. I received this one as a partial trade recently. How nice as it is, I don't need it. Lowered asking €1800 I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk.

Anyone recognizes this P-pickup?

My pickup has bevelled pole pieces which I don't see on the CS. Perhaps it's an "original". -

Thanks for all the responses, they are very helpful. I haven't checked the top of the bobbins, I'll see if they say anything. -

Anyone recognizes this pickup? It came to me in a Nate Mendel. It's clearly not the OBP-3 that should be in there, but I have no idea what this replacement is.

A good jazz bass is a good jazz bass! I've played affinity's that were better than some USA standards I've also played.
