Mine was for sale too, but I've decided to withdrawn it. The necks on these basses are really great which makes the bass easy to play. I like that. From the factory, the nut was cut a little high, so I lowered it... It's so comfortable now. And of course the caprice sounds awesome in all settings.. This might be a future classic! Good luck with the sale. Though you might rethink once you play it again -

Seems like 79 was THE production year for Sabres. Probably because sales didn't go all to great, and they could sell for a long time from their stock. At least that is what I would think. How cool would it be to own a bass for 40 years... That's all my life + 8...seems a long time🙂 It definitely deserves a prominent spot on the wall (next best thing after playing, of course).

I think it is a good price for such an instrument with expensive preamp. -
Bartolini 9W5 pickups from the early 90s. The pickups are in used shapoe with marks on the covers. They work fine though. Asking €125,- -
Ive got a new set of Aguilar AG 5J-70 pickups lying around, that will probably not be installed in the new future, so they may leave the drawer. They haven´t been installed, so they are in great shape obiously. What to say more... Im asking €165,00 -
KSD Proto-J 5 Lovely 70s style 35´´ scale Jazz Bass. This bass truly plays and sounds great. The neck feels really nice with its smooth finish. In some way it reminds me of some laklands ive played. Action can be set nicely low on this bass, so it plays easily. The is preamp has been upgraded to a John East, which is highly versatile. The bass is in good used shape with only some minor damages/usermarks. Actually it looks pretty fresh and clean. I´ve got this bass in a trade recently, and actually don´t need it. It is a great playing and sounding bass, but I already have to many of those hanging around . Any cool trades? I am looking for a good unlined fretless (blade jazz, fender Japan jazz, jazz bass special), a fretted jazz bass special, or a nice electric guitar (fender strat japan, jaguar...)... Older Japanese Tokai or Yamaha JB600r basses per example are welcome as well. Of course cash sale is still possible too: fixed low price €450. Please note that the price is firm. The bass is located in the netherlands, but can be shipped at buyer's expense and risk. I have no case available, but it will be packed well for insured shipping anyway. If buyer wishes, it's possible to sort out and order a case for shipping. My feedback:

Thanks for all the response people! I'll assume it's a early non-factory refin. I'm fine with that as it has aged beautifully, and actually kept that possibility in mind before the purchase. Will post a full frontal pic soon, as it feels wrong not to post it☺️

The stamp is a bit blurry, but im quit confident it says 1979. The neck is stamped Sept 1979. Cool you know so much about MM stuff

I see a few small dots of the first white finish, but not as clear and organized as on the examples you've shown. I guess that is unusual.

Shouldn't that dots be there from the first finish then? Never noticed those dots before on a Sabre.

It's a solid layer, no grain to be found there. I'll make a Pic of the neckpocket later today. Other sunburst I've seen were all based on a semi transparant finish.

Pretty much I think. I've seen a 79 date stamp and there might have been another one. I forgot to take some pictures as I just wanted to verify it's age in the first place. I might take the neck off again this weekend for further inspection.

Thanks for the replies so far, interesting to hear. The light makes the red more flamboyant than how it actually looks, but it's a vivid burst indeed. If it's a refin, it must have been done ages ago :). I just screwed the neck back on, it has spray from the sunburst on the sides of the pocket.

Reverb asks for photo ID?

I´ve used reverb a few times to sell some stuff, and it feels reliable to me. I had a few questions when I was new and about to make my first sale, and I have experienced that their customer support is well reachable and actually willing to help you. It is very personal compared to eBay. Apparently ID is needed when sales reach a certain ammount, as I found out through some google searching. I provided them, as I needed to do that for payout... I dont mind the selling fees that much, as I still got a better price for some stuff than I could get through other platforms. -
Hi There, Ive just purchased a beautiful 1979 Music Man Sabre with a sunburst finish. It appears that the body had been finished in white blonde at first, and got a sunburst overspray later on. Was this common at Music Man, or is it most likely a aftermarket refinish? This Sabre has an alder body. I always thought they all came with (heavy) ash bodies, so I was surprised to find one that is pretty light. It is definitely more resonant too than I remember from the ash bodied ones. Cheers

EBS Reidmar head Lovely piece of EBS kit. This Reidmar is light in weight, but it sounds great and goes very loud! The amp is in very good shape, without damages, and of course it works like it should. A european plug power chord can be included if needed. I´m selling this Reidmar as well as my EBS Fafner, as I´ve bought some other stuff recently to try something different, and I see no reason for keeping 4 great heads around Asking €250,00 (approx 225gbp) The amp is located in the Netherlands. It is a light amp, so could be shipped easily. I also have 2 EBS 112cl cabs (at €225 each) that are available for sale, but they are probably to expensive to ship.
