1. Didn't think you were selling any of it??? Again to echo that said by others, providing you have been playing in venues who hold a current PRS license and you are not selling a. n. others copyright work, then your band cannot be infringing upon their copyright for performing their song live. Andy
2. On closer inspection, looks like a Mighty Mite neck with a photoshopped logo!
3. Two Attitudes (MK1 &2) and a BB714bs. Also owned a mk1 trb5 and a BBG5s, absolutely superb instruments extremely well made. I do though understand the comment re being characterless though. However, for me, this is down to the precise engineering and quality control exercised on all their instruments. andy
4.
You`re right, the card shouldn`t actually be charged until the item is sent, however am sure there are some places that rely on people not being aware of this. Shame that guy gave his "advice" on Hartke. I had a great Hartke rig a few years ago, only got rid as I wanted Marshall - well I was in a hard rock band! But, it was great sounding, very versatile, and plenty loud.
Yep a real pity! My feelings: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=132086 andy
5. Yes he said that about April too. The reps state that these will be available here in October, hoping for August but unlikely. Still, give me more time to save up - can't wait!
6.
Serious bargain alert, launch all intercepters. £100 for this - these are great cabs, worth three times this amount. Someone is gonna be very happy!
+1 Absolutely!!! £300 would be a bargain! andy
7. I wouldn't suspect so but, it would be worth taking one out to ascertain values then replace both fuses with new ones. Thornybank also had a lot of success by soldering all wires to the connectors of all speakers and inputs which made the cab work better. andy
8.
It's great when you try new gear that makes you smile You've got to remember to let me know next time you gig locally!
Will do Jose, you too. andy
9. They are though, right for rock! Last night was the first time in years I felt my tone was controlled, full and cutting. It was amazing, considering there is only a volume control and an eq. I was running the eq up the middle, I know its not flat but that is my thing, all at 12! No limiter nor bright switch, horn off on cab and hell yeah!! Unbelievable, a solid wall of tone generated by my Yamaha Attitude and delivered transparently by Hartke! Dood, I'm kinda stuck for words on this due to it blowing me away. I would challenge any rock player to try Hartke and not endorse them. I will have a Kilo though1 Apparently the power section is based on the LH1000. However its your fault, you made me curious after that chat we had a few months ago through the pm system. So, cheers mate I love it! Andy.
10. Hiya mate, Just want to say, the BB714 is a great instrument but not in the same league nor price range as the BB3000, stunning instrument. andy
11. Cheers Steve, I'm quite shocked to be honest because I wasn't sure if I could work with such a clean sound but hey I'm fair enjoying it. The other thing is that it is ridiculously cheap considering the LH1000 is their top end head coming in at £519 or cheaper (seen for £469) and the AK410 is £320. Tonally stunning and loves the attitude. Speak soon pal andy
12. Just back from a gig tonight where I played through my new Hartke rig which comprises of an LH1000 amp head and an AK410 cab. The thing is I've been an Ampeg/Trace player for years and am real used to the low end thump and woof of my old rig/s. So tonight was a bit of a dilemma for me in regards to what I would use and the sounds I would get. The Hartke is very, very clean and crisp so my thoughts were, go with Ampeg rig you know how it sounds! But I thought bugger it! I need to try the Hartke and good grief it was tremendous! The combination was just stunning and clear but with so much presence and volume it cut through beautifully and left the guitarist in no doubt he'd been bossed! Yeehaa! So, I'm well impressed and pleased that the test run went extremely well. Ta much Hartke I'm being assimilated! andy
13. I wasn't criticizing him either. Would be nice for him to post his part in this. andy
14. Should be visible! BC is a great place to buy and sell equipment and, I would assume, 90% of all business goes through seamlessly. We need to know of the ones that don't so we as members can recognize and identify the good, bad and make a judgement call on who to do business with. We are more informed due to threads like this and feedback. I recall the bass packaging thread of a few months ago which was resolved amicably with no negative outcome for either member, just a simple learning exercise. Andy
15. I have the same sort of problem in my band. However, the drummer fills loads of gaps because he is in Bonham mode all the time! One thing I did do, when I realised root, fifth and octave were becoming tedious, I got the guitarist to note down every chord he played in the songs. Majors, minors, augments and sevenths and what every weird and wonderful out of tune nonsense he played too! It helped because I could start working the scales to fit. The lines are better now but letting the song breathe is equally important to me so, more tasteful grooving than busy and filling. Listen to Free and Bad Company, some astonishing bass playing yet simple and effective within the songs. andy
16. Got it! link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMIi1UV151w Very interesting indeed and I got it back to front! andy
17.
An oddity with this amp is also that the drive control is on FULL when at the lowest (7 o'clock) position and OFF when at the highest (5 o'clock) position!
Right Mr Cetera, you have confused me a bit! I thought that dialing the tube gain to full on (10) was optimum setting for the tubes?? Oh.. please explain andy
18. I had the combo version of that amp, it lasted me for years and years - gigged it to death literally speaking! It blew up on stage, however, it was so well built that it was only the caps that had fried and it cost £30 to repair! Traded it in 92' for a Session 410 100w combo.
19.
No offence to Lozz but I'd have to say that in my experience, nothing could be further from the truth! I've never used Hartke, but at some time or another I've been forced to use gear by the other three (in various rehearsal rooms and gigs where we've shared gear) and I've never found any of them to sound better than my Ashdown gear (let alone my Acoustic stuff) I'm with JTUK on this, none of them are a step up (except maybe the high-end Ampegs, and even they don't sound that good to me) If you're sounding "muffled" I'd be looking at changing your basses pick-ups and/or strings! I was once given some advice that I believe to be true "an amp is an amp is an amp, but get some good speakers and even a cheap amp will sound good"
Ohh, ow, ouch!! You have just broken the rule of sound... A good set of speakers will only show up a poor amp for what it is! It is best to balance out a rig by buying the components as close in price as possible. However, if you want a great amp then by all means partner it with a standard set of speakers and it'll sound good but much better with its most efficient partner. Although, a lot of this is determined by the instrument and the player. andy
20.
I`d look at Hartke, Ampeg, Peavey or Trace Elliot. All have great sounds, are reliable, and easy within your budget 2nd hand - there are probably a fair few on here at present. The Hartke LH 500 gets a lot of praise on here, and is £300 new - leaves you £300 for a decent 2nd hand cab. Also, there`s the Marshall MB range. Powerful, great sounding (especially for rock - well it`s Marshall, it would have to be) and reasonably priced.
He would actually pick up a new LH500 and AK410 cab for that money! And, big +1 on the Hartke/Ampeg gear. andy
21. Yep +1 with the master at full and work on the gain. I also have the tube drive full on also! It is a fabulous amp when used properly. The issue with the horn: Has the cab got a crossover in it or some sort of circuit with a resistor? andy interesting links: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/ampeg-pr...ing-out-174098/ http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.p...76f6fa57d1cfba1
22. I'm very impressed with the Hartke AK410 cab, traditional series but floats in at a whopping 60lbs and £319. Very clear detailed cab with loads of presence. andy
23.
It's irrelevant. You could extend the same argument to the manufacturer. So, you say the £1000 shop bass is "in reality" only "worth" £570, but what about the manufacturer's markup? By this reasoning the bass might only be worth, say £250 "in reality". It's a futile process trying to put a formulaic price on used items, unless you control the market (which manufacturers can do but sellers of used items cannot). In fact, the varying opinions of this thread only go to prove it. You can believe something is worth whatever you want, you can invent all manner of reasons or formulae to support your view, but if you can't persuade someone else to pay the price then you'll never be able to realise that value in hard cash. You're just fooling yourself. It's like buying a new car. The buyer thinks they've just bought a £30k car but the reality is that it's suddenly worth a great deal less, simply because (unless it's particularly collectable) there's no one in the world that will buy that car for anywhere near £30k. There's no scientific rationale for this, it's just the way a free market works.
Not quite sure of your argument or what your point is but the bit I've highlighted in bold/italics is more or less what I've said throughout! Some are trying to establish price on sentimentality and individual worth however, I do not see these as a 'formula' to establish a price. The used market place is more of a reference but again the buyer will only pay hard cash if they feel it is a fair price. And, this can be based on many of the market place scenarios. Again, I'll state that most on here know the used market place and know how and why used items are priced the way they are. andy
24.
I work in the hifi industry a d without the Mark up we would have no staff or shop or dare I say make a profit.
I love the HiFi industry!! I still have my ioriginal Cyrus 2 from 1989, true value and was worth every penny of the £300 I spent back then! I also own, Systemdek 11 with Moth arm (RB250 derivative) and AT-F5 moving coil cartridge: Wharfedale 505.2 walnut speakers, 3 x Nad CD players C520, C521bee, C515bee; Nad C315bee amp, another Cyrus mk6, 2x Monitor Audio Bronze B1 speakers and a set of Castle Severn speakers. I love HiFi, all if it is so worth it and valuable to me however, if I was selling then... I would have to be realistic about it! I still miss my Linn Sondek...
