For Sale - My life as a Bassist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
andy67 replied to the hand of john curley's topic in General Discussion
There are people that don't like him, I'm not 100% smitten, but there's no denying he's good. My point is when you get up close to these guys you get a real sense of their talent, energy and skill. hWich in my experience is always awe inspiring.
concur 100% however...what they do is their thing and, as for all of us, we should endeavour to be ourselves creating our own thing or individuality which makes us 'unique' in our own style. Pat Torpey (Mr Big drummer) once said: "No matter how good or bad drummers can be, I always learned something from them. Whether this be a complex pattern or a simple beat." thought it was a good sentiment and have since used this outlook in my playing experience. andy -

hi sphycal and welcome aboard fight like a tiget to get your money back! do you see the rows of numbrs on the decal? this represents the patents/trademarks covered when reproducing the decal. someones bought a replacement decal and stuck it on badly!! to me this bass looks incredibly like a 90's style encore?? get right onto ebay to sort this out, if you paid by paypal then you will get your money back as the goods are not as described. andy

mine?

hey ped! bet you were counting again! lol yep, concur with everything you say about the V4, everything I like about a valve amp. I nearly sold mine last week but lucky to see sense last call - dont know what I was thinking!! For me, the V4 represents the best value out of the V series...I have played through a V8, fantastic but not a V4, used a V6 super nice smashing still no V4. The V4 is the monster of the range as it just gives the second you plug in and start playing...volume is there in abundance - instantly - unlike the V6 and V8, which give you more control sweeter, nicer, hifi, lovely, spring day, sunny, silk stockings - get the picture? turn on the V4 and you get the fecking monster! dirty, huge, careless, mad, etc.... I'm sure I noticed that the Bass Cellar is part of the Doncaster Music Ground group? They have a reputation for being extremely off the planet with their pricing structures!! andy

Morning folks! Sometime ago my partner secretly removed the scratchplate from my Yamaha Attitude mk2, wrapped it up and posted it off to Billy Sheehan. On my birthday, March 20th, she presented me with the scratchplate signed by billy and photos of him with happy birthday, from billy, on them. I was absolutely gobsmacked! Anyhoo...I mailed him to say thanks and this is the reply I got: Great! Glad you got it. I hope I get to Scotland again soon! I've always loved it there. Tell everyone on the bass forum I said hello! New solo CD coming very soon too. Take care & stay in touch! Your Friend, Billy What a guy! Andy

Morning folks. Two weeks ago I bought a second hand Ampeg SVT 3pro (I have two now) from Soundcontrol Edinburgh. It had been repaired for a customer who didn't collect and had been sitting in the shop for two years. I got it for £250 with a 4u rack included. It is the model before the latest incarnation, the one with the blue writing, and in fairly good condition. When I got it home, I decided to re-tube it. I practiced with it properly for the first time yesterday and found it to be the most growly sumnabitch full on rock amp I've ever used - completely different from my other SVT 3pro - of which, left me wondering how this could be? I changed the sovtek tubes for sovtek tubes ecc83, the only difference was I changed the philips ecc82 for a Russian made (sovtek?) ecc82. So my question to all you out there who have had the pleasure of owning and using an SVT 3pro new and old: did you notice any difference between these revisions? It's very odd as I would have expected the newer SVT 3pro to be better!? granted it's much more refined and clear but why such a difference? andy

that is very appealing!

me too! change the pup for a dimarzio model one!

This bass is stunning! Simply a delight to hold and play and as I said earlier...it sings. This is the 4th TRB6P I have used and is by far the best example I have seen. Tonally supreme, versatile and commanding. I still cant believe you are getting rid of this andy! one like this wont come round again. andy
-
hi chris no probs with that at all. looking at the bass, looks like a badass II, ts scrtchplate and seymour duncan pups? if so that amounts to about 75% of the selling price! what a bargain for someone.

I'm after a 24-fret bass with classic styling
