1. have to agree with mike on last paragraph! originally you used the sellers ebay description for this bass, making it sound as though you had been the only owner from new! naughty naughty young man! play the real game!
2. yes it is! superb stuff! wikipedia suggest that the judas priest thing is correct! another good musical film is Still Crazy.
3. bought the dvd off of Amazon, as well as the incredibly great soundtrack! dvd: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rock-Star-Mark-Wah...2479&sr=1-1 soundtrack: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rockstar-Various/d...2508&sr=1-3

5. seen one for sale recently in Glasgow £479 new! if its in good nick tehn probably £300 - what you paid. good luck andy
6. hmm...how odd!
7. I've checked the sellers listings, he has too many such classics and under the bed finds for my liking!
8. surely you would expect the brilliant white scratchplate to have gone that off white/yellowish colour for a forty odd year old bass?
9. nah! the forms dont take to long and once the investigation is done, 14 days then you get either a cheque or nothing! have you asked the seller why it took him so long to enquire about this? if he has done this before? write to ebay putting in a complaint as they would withdraw the feedback.
10.
Well I'm getting my Streamer on tomorrow to beat the price hike. I tend to think that if there was a vaible alternative to eBay (Amazon is too faffy) then it'd be like rats leaving a sinking ship.
agree 100%
11. ebay are now actively encouraging dodgy dealers!! this could be a real nail in the coffin for ebay! I certainly will be more choosy we using!
12. Pete it is! head in another place!
13. always a groove to me, its like a unspoken word or a pulse that allows you to communicate with onother on a level of complete harmony and synchronisation - being as one. good instances of this would be; early Marillion, Pete (John! :brow: ) Trewavas and Ian Mosely these guys really locked in and produced a 'percussive' beat which really set the sound for Marillion. Others would be Geddy Lee and Neil Peart - too many to mention or perhaps thats a good start for a new topic...the groove machine bassists and drummers who make the music!?
14. thats a great offer! but would prefer to buy, no sure what to do or offer though, they are £100 new and delivered from amazon, maybe there is something we could trade?
15. That could be a goer bremmen - how much?
16. some good stuff folks! however, the software upgrade reviewrs keep mentioning say it makes a huge difference to the vamp?
17. Anyone got one of these? if so, are they any good? been reading a few online reviews which have been fairly positive, some reviewers even saying they are a bit better than the pod pro?? it is a third of the price of the pod - how can that be? Some folk saying there is an online software update making it more usable and better quality sounds? anyways...looking for something to muck about with and this appears to fit the bill - all comments and experience welcome! andy

8x10 cabs
If you find that you don't get along with it, particularly using the V4, then one thing you need to consider which hasn't been mentioned above is the cabinet design - whether it is sealed or ported. Ampeg and the marshall VBC810 are sealed designs, as a result you lose a bit of low end but you will struggle (probably fail) to stress the cab out, whilst a ported design can and will fart out if you get up to stupid volumes; especially with a valve amp. That's the reason that everyone swears by the Ampegs etc. they are just bullet proof. Bergantino NV610 is supposedly better sounding (I don't know - never compared) - but it is half the weight and yet still a similar sealed design. Price-wise, it's not cheap but it's still not much different from the Ampeg.
Hi thanks for the info. the mag 810 is sealed and has enough bottom end to keep me happy - love the clarity also! I cant quite get my head around a 610 - think its simple aesthetics?? An 810 big and mean a 610 is getting there! definitely a crisis! oh well its done now!
19. Hi there...I had one of these! excellent basses worth more than £90, infact, I sold mine recently for £150 - the buyer was delighted! great bargain for anyone wanting to play fretless with a superb instrument!
20. yep! as a rock bass player in the mould of Cliff Williams, but secretly wanting to be Billy Sheehan...the cab is very bassy for 8 10's - It rocks man! Try it out first though, Sound Control seem to have a large stock of them and they will price match SoundsLive!
21. Ashdown MAG 810 deep review Best price: Soundslive £329 – www.soundslive.co.uk This is possibly the first review I have ever done, so here we go! I’ll start with the build quality. As I don’t know the precise build quality I will assume, bearing in mind that it is quite cheap, manufactured in China and I can’t get the specification from the Ashdown site, the cabinet is made from 18mm MDF covered with a thin layer of fairly tough carpet. The cab has four strong moulded plastic and metal recessed handles, two on the side, slightly above middle, and two on the back around where Ampeg has its pull bar. These handles are comfortable, sturdy and present no issues when moving the cab. Connections are: standard jack and speakon. The grill is metal and lacks a bit of finesse, black in colour with a riveted on Ashdown badge, badly screwed on leaving peaks and troughs in the metal. Wheels on the cab are ok – work well but we shall see how long this lasts! I hate the plastic corner pieces - cheap and very nasty! This is a smallish cab for an 810, not overly heavy, but heavy nonetheless, I was able to get it out of the house manoeuvring it easily into the back of my Vauxhall Vectra – back seats down – both in and out! It took two of us minutes lifting it up four flights of stairs to our practice room without feeling overly knackered!! According to technical staff at Ashdown; all bass cabs and combos are fitted with BlueLine speakers. Sound Quality Very surprising...Now that I have identified the issue with my Trace V4 and have compensated for it, the cab worked incredibly well! It is very punchy having enough low end to keep those in the depths of bass happy. Highs are crisp and clear, middle frequencies are definable and give plenty of scope in order to fine tune your sound. The cab is not lacking in presence! It is here, there and everywhere giving a solid in your face wall of bass tone. This is not a muddy sounding cab in the slightest and will surprise many. It is not forgiving of poor technique as I have found out today at practice! I must admit to liking the blueline speakers and the job they do in producing bass sound. The odd thing is they don’t seem bothered by being pushed hard – they just get on with it! Band Members The drummer said that it was so much better than my two Ampeg B410hlf‘s and that it was filling the sound and the room out more. Also, he was able to hear what I was playing as the tone was much more definable allowing for more clarity in my bass lines. The guitarist wasn’t too happy as it drowned him out! Too bad!! I will recommend this cab and am glad I bought one...again! I would like to try out a few different makes of 810 together as to gain an overall opinion of price, quality, reliability and usability. Worth it? Hell yeah!! Pm me if you want any other info re this.

8x10 cabs

wee update...as finances are atrocious, I have bought an ashdown mag 810...again! I liked this cab the first time round but thought it did not have enough push! loved the tone/volume close up but seemed to disappear at around 20 feet, however, I have sinced noticed that between the 9 and 10 oclock positions on my gain control the volume periodically drops out and that this, most likely, has been the issue. I have known the pot needs replacing for a while now. I got the cab for £330 new and am quite pleased as at this point, I could not justify the cost of an svt 810e in my head nor my wallet! I will get a proper review up as soon as I have it back in my practice room. ta for all advice and help folks. andy
23. have to agree , been whittling down my collection for the last year! The three basses in my avatar pic will be kept all others are either gone or going! no fenders or squire vintage modified basses left only a pile of bits that I was collecting to make my frankenstiener.. I have three kids also and a credit card happy missus!
24. Another miserable day here in the west of Scotland. Leaving home from Edinburgh provided for a fairly perilous journey! this weather brings the idiot drivers out in abundance. Most of the journey felt as though I was aquaplaining, the road was that wet, however, some folk don't pay much attention to the conditions and think they can drive at 80mph, cut in and brake leaving very little room for others to stop! Ah well, got here in the end a good half hour later than normal, fizzing mad and stressed out! Need to relax before the students appear! andy
25. bloody hell!! 10 warwicks - you my man need a grilfriend! on second thought maybe you dont...they produce children and pick yer pockets making all instruments unaffordable! now I'm envious! good luck with the sale, that is some collection!
