I just thought of something else: logos on the body - I can (kind of) understand it on headless basses (still don't like it) but those 4 dots were the deciding factor that put me off a Sandberg. I was *this* close.

Yep, for real. The Pino bass looks like a red car that has been left out in the sun too long. I don't like red cars either, now I think about it. 🤷♂️

@mcnach yep, I know it's a passive pickup and I take your point about youtube videos (although the signal chain seemed pretty legit but again, one doesn't know for sure). I'll think over the control plate swap - that's worth considering.
