1. Vox. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vox-Standard-Bass-Ma...=item2eb372a48b While I'm sure I'll learn more about what I like with further experience, I'm not sure a bass with a single precision pickup that close to the bridge would be for me.
2. These are said to be decent basses, and there's not that much wrong with it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARIA-STB-SERIES-ACTI...=item1e61b63182
3. CMI Twin neck guitar/bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/70s-CMI-Twin-Neck-Gu...=item2c5ad2e6af Rarity value, maybe. But I don't personally think this is worth £400.
4. I must admit that this bass does not hit 10 on my personal weirdometer. I've seen much weirder.
5.
I've noticed another trend using Ebay auction toset an inflated price for a BIN I've been watching a load of stuff to see the final prices. Stuff "sells" for say £207 It then gets relisted £250 BIN Oh and all the bids are private.
Do you mean that the new buyer is reselling at the higher price? Or that the original seller is has blown off the buyer, and is selling again?
6. Track 2 basses do seem to garner high expectations among sellers. Is there any particular reason for that? Anyway, back to business. Here's a MIJ (claimed) Columbus fretless Jazz. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COLUMBUS-VINTAGE-FRE...=item2561159beb
7. Expensive Track 2 bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WESTBURY-TRACK-2-BAS...=item27b8be9ff3
8. £100 less than last time it was listed. But even so, still hundreds to go before it's fairly priced. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1977-Ibanez-Artist-B...=item3cb52e2174
9. Interesting looking CSL Jazz with mahogany body. 99p start. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/csl-electric-jazz-ba...=item1e61a4b551
10. I did look into what Peavey UK and Gear4Music damaged seconds were going for, but they seemed to go for what I thought unrealistically high prices. £68 for a Vintage V100 (or so) when you can pick up good condition ones for £100. Looking at their other damaged goods, another of the basses has been damaged in a very similar way. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARIA-OVATION-STYLE-A...=item20b71f42dc Coincidence? Or weakness?
11. I've no practical reason for posting this question, but I'm stuck at work without enough to occupy me for another 20 minutes or so. I've just read the story of the Kon-Tiki expedition on a balsa wood raft across the South Pacific. They kept mentioning mangrove wood, and saying it was as hard as iron. If so, couldn't it be used for such things as wooden bridges?
12. Aren't Tobias basses usually quite expensive? Is this a copy, there's no headstock pic. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fretless-bass-Guitar...=item27b8b295f4
13. For anyone capable of fixing it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARIA-FRETLESS-OVATIO...=item1e6188922c Edit: Not that I'd try it myself, but it doesn't look too bad. Is that just a glue job? Though, of course the neck could be warped as well due to the force of whatever removed the neck from the body, I guess.
14. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ANTORIA-JAZZ-68-REPL...=item19c324a148 And an Antoria defretted Jazz bass. Or at least we're told that it's an Antoria as the decal is missing.
15. Fretless-ised Ibanez Roadster. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ibanez-Roadster-Bass...=item4cf520c6d7 I'm sure that it's a lovely bass, but the maple fretboard and light coloured body really don't do it for me.
16.
If he takes a blowtorch to it, he could sell it as a 1975 relic
The body isn't genuine Fender, but the neck is arguable. Allegedly.
17. http://leicester.gumtree.com/leicester/79/73850179.html I think not, somehow.
18.
Sometimes worth sending a message to the Pick up only lot to see if they will post. Some do.
Yes. But with a cheap bass, the postage is often enough to turn a bargain into a non-bargain. I was just looking at a flat screen monitor. Very good BIN price, but about 10 miles from me and pickup only. Far enough away so that I'm looking at hours return on the bus and time at the far end. So, I just though ^%$ it, and made a "Make Offer" of £5 over the BIN price if they'll deliver it to my home. Result: accepted. I'd imagine that they'll be making visits to Leicester anyhow, and I live right by the main route in from their town to the city, so it's possibly a win-win situation. I'm not sure how many people have made "Best Offer" for more than the BIN price, but I've been watching for yet another flatscreen computer monitor for a while, and it just didn't seem to happen.
19.
And I can't work out if this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-FENDER-FULLE...2-/200575448089 ...is wilful bullsh!t or just pig-ignorance. The Japanese factories must have bought several million "Fullerton Red Bottom" J pups because you find these in 90% of JapCrap Js & P/Js. I've got half a dozen of the bloody things sitting in a drawer.
If all the BS on ebay was spread evenly over the Sahara desert, would it be enough to turn it back into a fertile plain?
20.
Being neck-through & stripy doesn't make it a Matsumoku. I wonder if Ebay thickies will ever work that out?
As far as educating ebay sellers is concerned, I submit the following image: And, here is a horse made in the Matsumoku factory.
21.
Westone Thunder 1-A, Limited Edition, hand-crafted from solid gold and lacquered with angels' tears.
The listing says that they will sell to the highest bidder. I bet they don't. If I was evil,I'd suggest that multiple people over a period of time all make exactly the same offer (to the exact penny) for it. But I won't.
22. One way of getting a more unique-ish bass from standard components. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Precission-type-Bass...=item3cb4eab631
23. For anyone interested in a Ryder substitute, this? Being pickup only and with dodgy electrics, could go for quite a low sum. No? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Squier-Fender-P-Bass...=item3a6312d372
24. Left handed Fresher precision. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/L-H-70s-Fresher-Prec...=item25612a4741 Currently cheaper than a Sue Ryder at a £50 starting price.
I mistakenly bought this bass as I'm right-handed(!), hence me selling it :^(
Well, that's one reason for selling a bass I suppose.
25. I could hear some "get on up"s while listening to it.
