Not all musical dreams end in happiness and glory
He's taking the next step up from virtuosic one-man band... no-man band!
It's been done. -
Also of enormous value and a significant enhancement to any bass is an illegible scrawl in thick black felt-tip pen. This can be described as "personally signed by Joe Clash of the Strummers". The fact that your bass was made in 2003 and The Strummers last had a hit before you were born is irrelevant. The fact that Joe Clash actually died before your bass was made is irrelevant. The fact that Joe Clash played rhythm guitar, not bass, is irrelevant. The illegibility of the signature proves that it's genuine. Or something.
There was someone trying to sell a six string guitar, claimed to be signed by Noel Gallagher, for over £2500. It was the very lowest end Epiphone bolt-on sub LP style guitar, which costs about £130 new.

Putting a Gibson logo on a bass that looks nothing like a Gibson is a good idea. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Matsumoku-Westone-Sp...709543184181872

If you've added "Fecker Jizz Bass" decals to your Johnny Brook copy, then you should spend half your ebay listing congratulating yourself on your keen sense of humour having created this "hilarious" bass, and of course you should price it at £200 or more.

If there are ten other similar items on ebay, at about one fifth of the price, then those sellers are seriously undervaluing their instruments. Even if the other ones don't sell.

All Cimar strats are simply relabelled Ibanez Blazers made "in the Ibanez factory". Even when they aren't. "Rarity" has been mentioned before, but the number of Westone Thunders which are described as "RARE RARE RARE" is astonishing.
This was my first ever bass! Hated the colour and promptly did a respray job on it. Doesn't look too bad in retrospect.
That colour seems quite common for Concords. Loads of Westones going up today. Case too. High postage though. -
Japanese, "steel adjustable neck", bolt on copy. Looks quite nice. Yet again a low starting price and no reserve. Westone Concord, pickup only in Matlock. Good to see something listed at 99p start, no reserve. Being pickup only it might turn out to be a bargain for a Peak district person. The bridge cover is too big, the body just looks misshapen to me. It's almost as if they had a pile of excess bits around, and they designed a bass that could use all their excess parts. -
I really hate it when sellers give it all this 'I'm not sure if it's a Rickenbacker'. Of course it has a Rickenbacker name plate on the head - she bought one on the 'bay 5 months ago!
That's enough to make me personally believe that the seller is deliberately out to scam people and is a nasty piece of work. I wonder what would happen if we emailed her to ask which shop inspected the bass and wasn't sure if it was a real Rickenbacker.

I'm getting confused with all this Rickenfaker price weirdness going on. I look forward to Hookyssixstringbass posting a Retrovibe review. If anyone is in the East Midlands and saw the item on shops in Narborough road on the local news, the featured guitar shop is where I bought my Cimar Rickenfaker from.

Yum. I love the look of that sort of bass, but don't have one. Couldn't afford the real Gretsch though

Squier Vintage/Modified Jaguar Is Here
In fairness to them, i'll wait and see what the Fender rep has to say before i name them, but i would feel alot better if i knew they were fighting my corner for me. The one thing that really annoys me is that rather than save a few quid by buying the bass online, i thought i'd do the decent thing and give my business to my local guitar shop. Won't make that mistake again.
The Sale of Goods act states that goods should be fit for purpose, but also free from minor defects.
http://www.inbrief.co.uk/sales-law/sale-of-goods-act.htm Satisfactory Quality Section 14(2) only applies to contracts where the goods are sold in the course of a business (e.g. from a shop), otherwise the buyer is deemed to have bought the goods regardless of quality. This section inserts an implied condition that the goods are of a satisfactory quality. It does not apply however, where the seller has drawn the buyer’s attention to those defects, or where the buyer has had an opportunity to examine the goods and the defects should have been apparent. What is satisfactory quality? Other factors are taken into account to assess what is ‘satisfactory quality’. The assessment is made objectively, so is in relation to what a ‘reasonable’ ordinary person would think and not on the buyer’s personal opinion. The assessment should take account of the description of the goods, the price and all other relevant circumstances. Therefore a more expensive product advertised as “luxury” should be of a higher quality than one would expect of a cheaper alternative. Quality of the goods refers to their state and condition on being supplied and should take into account other factors such as: fitness for all the purposes of which goods of that kind are usually supplied; appearance & finish; freedom from minor defects; safety; and durability. This condition also extends to all extraneous items supplied under the contract such as packaging and containers.
I would say that your Jaguar bass is not of the quality that I would expect for over £200. And hence it is not of satisfactory quality. If the shop were telling me that I can't take it back and that's what I should expect for the price, i.e. refuse to make good the problem, then I'd be straight off to my local Trading Standards to complain. Sometimes Trading Standards need to be prodded a bit, particularly if it's a type of good that they're not familiar with, but they can be very useful if you politely persist. What do the other reasonable consumers think about the Jaguar bass, as described, being of satisfactory quality? Personally I feel that the VMJ are the premium level of the Squier range, and that I'd expect that for the premium paid over the bottom of the line Bullets and Affinitys, that all the routing and attachment of the parts should be good. However, I'm a bit worried about the section which talks about the user having had an opportunity to examine the goods, and whether the flaws should have been apparent. Should they have been with a standard tryout? -

Everyone else's crack converters seem much better than mine. I dropped in one one today, and apart from a Satellite six string, rather awful looking, they've had for ages, nothing. When will I see a decent JPN Jazz Bass in one?
