1.
A few folk on here (including me) have good things to say about the Squier VM Jazz fretless. A great bass for 250 sheets.....
That's the new price. They occasionally sell for bargain prices on ebay.
 2.
+1 to the comments above. In short, most basses would sound crap soloed through the media used by the average punter.
Surely people prepared to pay high end prices for basses would be clued enough to use decent sound equipment to test the sound. Probably wouldn't work for low end stuff for the reason you mention. But for high end stuff, surely people would know how to listen. I'm listening to the Lakland site right now on Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro headphones through an M-Audio Fastrack Pro audio interface. And I think I'm getting a good idea of how the basses could sound. I was advised to go to the Lakland site when I was first looking for a bass, to learn the differences between J and P sounds, and I don't think I was misled in any way.

 4.
An Ashbory is Good for jam nights as no one asks to borrow it.
5. Can anyone please explain to me what the particular notable points of Les Paul basses are? I've tried listening to some youtube videos, and even one with Bartolini active pickups sounded, to me, quite a generic bass. Maybe the tone was rolled off too much. I'm familiar with certain basses which have distinctive sounds, PB, JB, short scale double humbucker basses, Warwick, etc. But, I have listened to some Les Paul basses, and nothing sort of stands out as characteristic of them to me. Might just be my ears, but can someone describe what makes Les Paul bass character?
 6.
At present there are four listings for Squier Katana basses up on ebay. But, if you look at the photos, there are only two distinct photos between those four listings. Dunno what that is about.

hi, don't be put off - ebay were doing a free listing day and so I have listed my guitars twice to maximise there exposure - should the guitar sell in the first sale then the second will be canceled. Cheers,
It's irrelevant as my purchasing budget is zeroed. But, to be honest, I would still be put off. Not exactly fair for those bidding in the second auction.
 7.
Topped out at a quite reasonable £430.
But I bid £200 or something A recent Japanese made six string purchase has zeroed (and more!) my instrument buying budget. So, I can have fun with lowball bids for a while until I get serious again in a few months time.
 8. Reminds me of this.
 9. Aria SB1000 active electronics. Given the condition they're in, bent pots etc., they may go for a bargain price. But, given the condition they're in, perhaps the purchaser might find s/he isn't so lucky after all. 10.
He sells sh*te at vastly inflated prices but we reckon its a ruse so that people will check out his parts (ooer missus) and buy them instead
He also sells very nice things at vastly inflated prices. I don't know how it works out, as surely he must pay a few pounds (or euros) for each listing, and if you look through his history, he has listed hundreds of instruments which received no bids. Perhaps the one instrument he sells per year or so garners him enough profit to make up for all the others.
 11. I thought of offering to come around with my camera to take photos if they didn't have their own digital camera. Just so that I could get a looksee.
 12. At present there are four listings for Squier Katana basses up on ebay. But, if you look at the photos, there are only two distinct photos between those four listings. Dunno what that is about. The starting prices are not cheap, but not outrageously expensive compared to other Japanese Squiers, so I presume it's not the German "Bloke" (*) http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...-All-Categories (*) I typically use a much stronger word in my private thoughts, but that might be inappropriate in the forum.
 13.
Welcome to my word! And given that the other half is mixed race, there's also, Nagsasalita ba kayo ng Tagalog?
I only know some slightly naughty Tagalog. When I was learning Japanese, it seemed like every few words or so the Filipino students in the class would suddenly giggle as we were taught the noun form of the very "to listen", which is "kiki".
 14.
Words and phrases. More important for me to be able to answer, Hangukmal hal jul ani?
If I guess the language correctly, apart from Annyon hase yo, which I can't even spell in roman letters, nothing.

PS: Aichi prefecture is where I lived.
 17. I've seen a lot of these sell, and £160 + P&P is about usual. The Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified basses hold their prices very well. I think that £110 + p&p is a very notable bargain. Here's one, £150 + cheap p&p. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Squier-Vintage-Modif...=item4153752e4c Isn't this the guy who has come up before who was selling a present from his mother, and was asking £225 starting bid. And was sure that it was worth that because his mother paid £270 for it? £80 is an insane bargain, IMHO, particularly with the extras.
 18.
I'd guess that the seller will end up making a profit.
Sold for £91, compared to £65 + £15 p&p originally. Not much of a profit. £26 if the buyer picked it up (too lazy to check their locations), or £11 if it was posted.
 19. Was it made between 1895 and 1945? :conspiritorial wink:
 20. Copied from the Rickenfaker thread. Nasty Kay, but £65 BIN I'd guess that the seller will end up making a profit.

 22. Ah. With so many basses sold on ebay as RARE*RARE*RARE and COLLECTORS ITEM!!!!!!!!!, I just automatically discount those claims. But, it seems that this is the real deal. Cool.
 23. TSB500 Bass. Matsumoku goodness. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIJ-MATSUMOKU-TSB-50...=item19c00074fe

 25.
Not anymore, some muppets bid on it. What was the sensible BIN?
£119 if my neurons have aligned themselves along the earth's ley lines properly. I thought that was sensible, but not a notable bargain. I've seen them go for less than £100 sometimes. If it sells for less than £119, then of course the muppet would not be a muppet any more
