2.
That was me, and he arrived into the world 7:18am yesterday morning. I managed to sell my Tanglewood on Ebay last week.
Congratulations on both the new arrival, and the sale!
3.
It is a "proper" Status in that these were official licensed copies made in Japan & sold with the Washburn brand, as you say with genuine Status hardware & electronics. This is a potentially very easy project for someone who'd be happy bunging conventional J pups & wiring in, as a gyppo such as me might. I'm watchin'. Jon
Good luck with that. I won't be bidding, and I won't be contacting the bidder to somehow "reserve" it from under your nose either
4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tanglewood-Elfin-Bas...=item4cf0d25296 Wasn't someone on this forum selling one of these after realising that he'd jumped the gun a bit by buying one for his yet unborn child?
5. My ears went up in a Snoopy like fashion when I saw the word "Status", thinking that maybe it was a Status neck like the UK made Westone 6 strings. But, it seems that it's only the hardware that's branded Status, and it might not be the same company. In any case, here it is for those with the practical skills. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Status-Washburn-head...=item45f46ed215
6. The Yamaha RBX375 basses come up on ebay quite often (as well as in the for sale forum here), and sell for very modest prices. I don't claim expertise, but they look like an amazing bargain to me. sold for £102 + £22.99p&p
7. I can't understand why anyone would want to write this out in 4/4 time. To me, it looks like a fairly stereotypical 12/8 timed piece. There are a number of bars with four beats - equally simple in 4/4 or 12/8, then there are the bars with three beats, and a crotchet and quaver - with 12/8 timing interpreting that as one beat. To me, the 4/4 example looks incredibly contrived. So, if there's one way of writing it that's incredibly confusing, and one way that's simple and straightforward, why not use the simple one? I'd say that in this situation, the way to distinguish between 4/4 and 12/8 is that one time signature makes it easy to describe what is being played, and the other doesn't. Just my opinion though.
8. Thanks for that. I have been trying to put a "groove" into what I'm doing. My regular practice for arpeggios and scales is to start playing them straight, then start playing around with rhythms, and then make up grooves based on the scale or arpeggio. I think that's what you are suggesting. But I haven't been playing around with dynamics much. I'll definitely be applying the second hint from now on.
9. My searches seem to come up with all sorts of interesting stuff. If Ebay isn't a patch on what it was a few years ago, then it must have been amazing then. I don't use ebay saved searches. I build up and refine searches bit by bit, then have them as shortcuts on my toolbar.
10. Ever since I arrived in this forum, people have been commenting on Warwicks not selling for all that much, compared to new prices. I get the impression that there are an awful lot of them, which tips the supply/demand ratio in favour of supply.
11.
I've explained this to him. He still thinks it's worth what mum paid for it 'cos he's not played it ... Can't help some people ....
Maybe his subconscious does appreciate the present, and is fighting a battle with his conscious mind to hold onto it.
12. It's obviously basschat's fault. All of the basses are being sold here, not on ebay. A variation on "all your basses are belong to us"?

14. As always, thanks Jon. Here's a "RARE" black Westone Thunder 1A. "Only" £350 BIN! 15. Previously the "Unwated" Squier VMJ was £265BIN. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unwated-Jazz-Bass-/1...=item27b3ac3a98 And they're £224 new in one of my local shops.

Classy Bint and the Rogues Silver Knife and the Trays Advanced Bass Camp (a pun for anyone interested in mountaineering) Last Orders (maybe better for a pub band, probably used I'd guess) Sixty Fingers and some Vocal Cords (adjust number of fingers according to number in the band) The Buzzards Vintage Wine (sorry, I seem to have run out of silliness) Edit: http://www.craigmorrison.com/article.php3?id_article=10 Serves me right for putting in a serious one) Pint Glass and the Ice Cubes Lonely Joes and the Mail Order Bride PS: Weddings, Parties, Anything is already taken
18. What types of strings, brands, gauges, etc., lead to bass strings feeling a tiny bit "rubbery" or stretchy when playing. I mean the feel I get while plucking? The strings on my Cimar Rickenfaker have this feel, but I don't know what they are as they were on it when I received it. I prefer that to the more taught feel on my other basses. Any advice much appreciated.
19. Sorry to bump an old thread, but this advice led me to practicing triads rather than just "jamming", and got me to finally get out my copy of Bass Guitar For Dummies, which I got some time ago and hadn't applied. And now I think enough has been incorporated to say that this problem has been solved. I'm now happy with the major key bass grooves I'm coming up with, and my main limiting factor now is probably dexterity, and I know what to do about that. Still a lot to do, but this thread and its consequences has done me a lot of good.
20. Thanks for all the advice. I'm applying bits and pieces here and there and making progress. Unfortunately I'm not yet at the point where I can just read theory and immediately incorporate it. It takes time before I can actually use it in real time. But, progress is being made, and given my history, that's enough for me.
21. Cimar Jazz bass project. Multiple issues. Buyer wants £99, and claims that a restored Cimar Jazz sold for £250 recently. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CIMAR-1970s-JAZZ-BAS...=item4151b6da84 I think £99 is too much, personally.
22.
I'd be inclined to suspect that if a pretty nondescript Jap J copy gets bid to nearly £200 with nearly 5 days left to run, then there's a bit of shill bidding going on. The private listing means you can't check the recent Ebay activity of the other "bidders". Expect it to sit at £180 until the end of the auction, when (if the seller's lucky) a real bidder will get it for £180.01, or it will "sell" at £180 to be almost immediately relisted due to some spurious excuse. Unless of course I'm being wildly cynical.
I was thinking that shilling wouldn't work with a reserve, because if it "sells" to the shill, then the seller has to pay fees, which they wouldn't if they just let it not reach its reserve. But, I suppose the seller and "buyer" would mutually agree to withdraw, and get their fees back. In fact, if the seller gets his/her reserve fees back, then that's better than just letting the auction run.
It does - because some of them were knock-offs of the Kasuga Scorpion: http://brochures.yokochou.com/guitar-and-a...ga/198x/p4.html And this is a Scorpion SCB900 with a different badge. Not something that comes up too often.
To me it looks a bit like a Westone Thunder 1 that's had its' share of the ugly stick. Are they better instruments than the easily available Thunders or do they have any other unique selling points? I do understand that collectors like to have a range of different things, but I'm thinking from the point of view of buying to use.
23.
And.... it's just been bid up to £180. Mmmmmmkay... J.
Can I ask what you're suggesting might be happening? (Just your personal opinion of course.)
