1. Could this have been something at some time? Doesn't say where it's from, but does it look vaguely Matsumoku era Hondo II? Or not? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Solid-wood-thru-neck...=item27b272a7b5
 2.
I wonder where he thinks you can get replacement Rick-type pickups "cheaply enough"?
Maybe the same place the modifier of this bass got one.
 3.
Equally unsubtle.
This is near me. I'm not sure I need another one though. The shop where I bought my Cimar has an Indie Rickenfaker in.
 4. Does anyone else feel that the seller's moniker "Steve the Soundman" is far from an exaggeration?
 5. Someone in my city (Leicester) is selling both a Thunder II bass, and a Thunder III bass, both with hard cases. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIJ-Westone-Thunder-...=item3f004f2374 I won't be bidding as (i) I'm sure they'll go for more than I'm prepared to pay, and (ii) I gave this month's guitar buying budget money to my partner to help with dental bills. So, I'm stuck at a big fat £0 budget again. But it's interesting to see them turn up locally.
 6. If you buy this bass, the seller will give you a copy of an album recorded using it. I thought that was a nice touch! At just a bit over £100 including p&p, that seems like a fair amount of bass for the money too. 7.
Westfield do make exceedingly good necks.
How good? How do they compare to a Fender USA neck? Or a Squier Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe?
 8. Has anyone ever cancelled a bid, or refused to go through with the purchase, because they didn't like the bidding pattern?
 9. Probably made by Tokai. It says. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/El-Degas-BASS-VINTAG...=item20b12d20c0
 10. Korean Satellite? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-P-TYPE-FRETLE...=item335d884e59
 11. Is it just me or does the set neck look a bit crude? Not that I'm suggesting it's mechanically less than excellent, but cosmetically it doesn't look wonderful to me. It doesn't match up to some of the finely contoured and smoothed neck joints I've seen people oohing and aahing over on other forums.
 12. Assuming that the description is accurate, this seems like the kind of bitsa that is made from bits left over, rather than bits chosen. Westfield neck, Squier pickups? Some maple body from somewhere? Surely if anyone was making a bitsa by choice, they'd go for something more upmarket than a Westfield neck? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Natural-Jazz-Bass-Gu...=item414fd3d422

It that a finish, or is it just ash that is grubby?
Price reduced from the previous listing. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Thunder-1A-b...=item19bc85cb0c Is this the original finish? It looks a bit pale.
 14.
Just picked it up, it's an absolute gem will post pics later.
looking forward to seeing the pics.
 15. If that was local, I'd have it. Surely someone must be in Kent.
 16. I bet you don't believe me, but I can prove it. Here is a photo of me wearing next to nothing engaging in the activity which is the central theme of the other forum I mentioned. And that's all word for word 100% true! http://i43.tinypic.com/20fys29.jpg Bet everyone's too scared to click on it.
 17. Just Brick. But I can't say which forum as there are photos there of me not wearing very much.
 18. Would it make it even more bizarre if I confessed that on another forum my screen name is Brick?
 19. http://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighti...wered-Mixer/6WP Does this make this thread into the mirror image of the typical music forum thread?
 20.
Because there are emails from the other bidder, saying that they were trying to bid, and replies from ebay, saying they had problems, I think I can show there is a valid reason; its not an invented excuse.
You have emails from the other bidder saying that they tried to put a bid on, and ebay saying that things can be a bit slow on a Friday. It doesn't sound like a serious enough reason to cancel an auction to me. How long ahead of the deadline was the bidder trying to bid? If it was hours then you might have a point. But was it hours, or was it that they tried to bid in the last ten seconds and because ebay was a bit slow, they missed out? If the latter, then that doesn't sound unfair to me at all.
 21.
If I had bought something, and I knew the auction had been unfairly run, I would be happy not to complete the sale.
How would the buyer know if the auction had been unfairly run? Rather than it being the case that the seller is coming up with an excuse?
... so my respect for your viewpoint is immeasureable... :-)
I was just saying how I would view the situation from the viewpoint of a buyer as an uninvolved bystander. Given your comment quoted above, I'm now definitely on the side of your buyer.
 22.
I am just hoping he understands its not my fault, ebay just went titsup at a bad time (for me anyway). I have refunded him the payment, if you refund within 60 days you pay no fees..
To be honest, if I had been the buyer who won the auction to find you backing out of the sale, I wouldn't be "understanding". A sale is a sale and if you have any disagreements with ebay, that's between you and ebay.
 23. Aria P2 Cardinal series bass 99p start. RSB 800 Aria Pro 2 bass. RSB? I'm not familiar with this model designation. I'm off to google. 99p start again. Edit: I was a bit confused when I saw the listing as I thought that RSB was a six string guitar code. It is, it seems. There aren't many of these bass versions about, and a wild guess on the value might be £600 or so. The more I look at it, the more I like it. But, too much money, more than I can justify. 24.
This is ending today, with no bids yet, and I can't afford to bid.
I've looked at it, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure if someone gets it for near the starting bid that it would be good value. But.......
 25.
Edit: Ross, what's this TB thread of which you speak? Are they discussing JapCrap? They know nothing, them Septics...
Whoops! I forgot to include the link. It's this page: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=613277 But, after reading that thread, I don't think I was any wiser than I was before I read it.
