Thanks for the Ibanez info guys. I'm not doubting that it's a real Ibanez, just asking how you can tell.
Did you check out his other auctions epiphone les paul
That's about what I'd expect an Epiphone Les Paul Special II to go for in that condition. An older Pacifica is a much better option for someone who can only afford £60 IMHO, but Epiphone has some name recognition, and that prevents even the lowest spec models selling for nothing. I can't see what's notable about this listing. Am I missing something? Oh, is it the misspelling of "Empiphone"? BTW: some time ago there was someone trying to sell an Epiphone Les Paul Special II signed by Noel Gallagher for over £2000!!!!! -

I could pick that up. Even as a non-car owner, it's a bus ride to Melton Mowbray. My family has even once had the decision made one weekend that we were going to the Coventry Motor Museum as a Saturday outing because I'd won a pickup only ebay auction in Coventry However, I'm not sure I need a Hondo precision. But, I don't think it's ridiculously out of the question. Especially if it is a MIJ. Collection only MIJ instruments are high on my list of things to watch out for on ebay Edit: If I went out to collect it, I could get the tomato sauce that is on sale by the same seller. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Heinz-Tomato-Ketchup...=item1c11ee51cb Edit2: Oh dear. I've seen one of these. It was either in "The Acoustic Music Company" in Brighton, or in Foulds in Derby. -

Is this what Jon was talking about when he said that sometimes Rickenfaker auctions just go silly? Or is it a lesson of the value of a low starting price? Edit: Could it be Rickenbaker fans spoiling the auction?

I had one of the Artist basses when I was a teenager. For sentimental reasons, it would be nice to have one again. However, if it were really important to me, then I'd put my money on the line and simply pay the going rate for one. If it were a really major life aim, then I could go onto the collector sites, and offer £1500 for one, and I'm sure I'd get one fairly quick But, it makes a nice fantasy to think that one day I'll run across one in a pawn shop or at a car boot or where-ever. Also, I must admit I've had daydreams where I win the lottery and I get a known luthier to make me a replica. One think I would like though. Could I have some more detailed photos of yours? -
Those strings look miles apart
Are they making savings by using the same neck for the four string and the five string?

I can really imagine Rickenbacker selling off their reject TRCs cheaply. Not.
Same TRC turns up on my local gumtree. Looks the same, and the item locations match. They want £40 for it. The Gumtree ad claims that the "made in USA" has been scratched off, although there is no mention of this in the ebay listing that I can see. And the Gumtree ad says that it came off an old guitar broke by his friend in the 80s, while ebay says "factory reject". I was outbid by a tenner on this one! Maybe I should have gone higher, but my guitar budget is still zero at this point. I'd like one of these eventually, so it's interesting to note that it went for less than I expected. Westone Thunder II at a very reasonable starting price. This should show us the current market value for these. I like the dark wood/finish on it. Yes, I've found their site. Some very original instruments there. -
This is one of the most interesting things I've ever seen turn up. I presume its range includes that of most bass guitars, so it's not 100% off topic. http://leicester.gumtree.com/leicester/22/57090522.html

At first glance I assumed it was a fake picture. After looking at it for a while, I like it. And the bass. And the sneakers.
