1.
Probably should go check it out and make a crappy offer. Let me know the crappy offer and I'll send an insultingly lower one first, so they feel like they're scoring a good deal.
It's already got five bids with eight days to go. Possibly the owner might be resistant to low offers. Edit: Up to £310 already! And there's over a week remaining. (PS: Thanks for the offer of conspiracy )
2.
4001
Hmm.... That's in my neck of the woods.
3. Yes, a quick look at the Eastwood site and the vintaxe site shows the resemblence. But, some of them even have the same brand name. Did Eastwood (or some parent company) buy or licence the brand name? If so, I prefer what Eastwood have done, actually producing replicas, compared to what has happened to brand names such as Westone, where the current instruments have no relation to the old ones. The few reviews I've heard of Eastwood instruments have been quite complimentary in terms of sound and playability. I seem to recognise this Eastwood as a copy of an old Ovation electric. My knowledge of Eastwood instruments was originally from seeing this review of two of their basses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmSUjhcJaPo I was really impressed by the sound of the Classic 4 bass as demonstrated here. But, I found out that if I wanted one I'd have to order it specially and presumably pay full UK RRP for it.
4. Thanks. It's certainly an interesting historical instrument. Although the ebay community has judged it not worth the £599 starting bid.
5.
Doesn't inspire confidence to buy a "top-of-the-range Gear4music bass" from them if that's the type of crap that gets turned out by the factory they deal with does it? One thing to note though is that they don't actually state that the bass is built in Korea - it just states Korean hardware. It's probably shipped in bits to a Chinese sweatshop for a load of poor exploited 6 year olds to assemble (mind you I think even kids could have done a better job on that!).
Could it be like some of the ESP guitars? Where the basic woodwork and finishing is done in China (allegedly) and then it's shipped to Korea (Japan for ESP) to be finally put together and for the latter stages of finishing?
6. I think the Cruiser bass looks very nice. And at £120, it's competitively priced compared to (say) £199 @ Hartnoll Guitars. But, as you say, there's lots of stuff out there, and people just can't buy everything that's a nice bass and well priced. Or at least, I can't. Have you considered offering an alternative to the Mars Bar for those who are lactose intolerant or strict vegetarians?
7. Gear4Music 2nds. On some international forums people say how they bought some "2nd" which has a few inconsequential scratches or something. But when Gear4Music sells a second, it always seems that there's some serious sh*t wrong with them. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Neck-Thru-Bass-Case-...=item45f22484c3 How do you replace the neck on a neck through bass?
8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NATIONAL-VALPRO-65-R...=item20b053dadd Doesn't say where it was made. Etc.
9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Thunder-1-A-...=item4aa0427ef0 Westone body. Not sure if it's likely to be useful for anyone.
10. Ibanez Blazer bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180491569403 I have some deja vu with this one, but there's no previous listing in the seller's completed listings.
11. Shuker six string Rickenfaker. You don't see those every day. http://www.limeshark.com/shukers.html (apologies for lack of ebay link)
12. That's very interesting, that the "Rockinbetter" bass you found is made by Dillion guitars Canada. They were (I'm told) the people behind the guitars often described as "Fakai" on the My Les Paul forum. I'm told that the Dillion company started making fake Tokai guitars in their Korean (contractors presumably) factory, and selling them. They're easily recognisable due to having a fair amount of writing on the back of the headstock. You can see the writing on the back of the headstock of the red guitar in the following link. http://www.guitarscanada.com/electric-guit...an-fakai-2.html Given that Dillion already has a history of this sort of thing (allegedly), perhaps they're behind the "Rockinbetters". Or perhaps they've appropriated the "Rockinbetter" for their own purposes. It's certainly a thickening plot type situation. In that perhaps this is where the "Tokai" connection comes from.
13. Definitely no "Rickenbacker" on the truss rod cover in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5ELh_9aPbE Truth is faker than fiction?
14. Who does actually make the Rockinbetter copies? If I search everyone says Tokai, but is this actually the case?
15. The Maya guitar has had one offer which was declined. I wonder if it was for £50.
16. They're showing Peter Hook in the movie "Control" playing a real Rickenbacker. Didn't he play a Hondo Rickenbacker copy?
17.
The aluminium guitar pictured looks a lot like those from Goulding Guitars.
Yes, pretty much exactly the same. L/H Westone Spectrum collection only in Sheffield. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/westone-spectrum-lef...=item27b0c0811c
18. £550 for a SB700. Surely that price would be not be exactly cheap for a SB1000? Does look nice though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-SB700_W0...=item2306607808
19. US$170 postage!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAPAN-VINTAGE-GRECO-...=item3a59834eee Yeah, I know it's from Japan. But even so......

21. I was presuming that the SG500 was a modern reissue. If it's an MIJ, then that is, as you say, massively less than it should have reached. The seller has shot his or herself in the foot with a cannon IMHO.
22.
Why not offer him £150?
Too many instruments for sale, too little budget allocated It's interesting, but I think I'll wait for something even more interesting for "next time", whenever that might be.
23. Not that I want it myself, but isn't this a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peavey-Milestone-III...581499833299544
24. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-SG-500B-and-S...=item4cee7cb63a I mean, who would want to buy both a Yamaha SG500 guitar and a Stag (sic) bass together? I bet it goes for the same price as the Yamaha would get alone. Or less. Edit: Sold for £168. More than I expected, but surely it's feasible that the Yammie would have got that alone.
25.
Owned by Adam Hall now : Antoria Guitars
Whoops! Now you point it out, I was looking at that site the other week. Interesting UK made metal guitars.
