1. Ta J., as always. Very shiny. With Matsumoku mystery switches: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Thunder-1-A-...=item33598f6af8
2. I see you sold your Aria Tab bass. I was thinking about it for a while, as I would like a 4 string (semi-?) hollow short scale bass with humbuckers, but Rickmansworth was too far to go to try it out before bidding. Your Westfield listing says that you considered putting a quarter pounder pickup on the bass, but that you never got around to it. Forgive me if I'm being rude, but I'm curious as to why that comment is there in the listing. If you said that you "never got around to it because the standard Westfield pup does the job admirably" or something like that, then it would make sense. But reading the listing, my response is just "????????".
3. Slideshow on this page appears to show Derek Forbes playing one of the basses which is up for sale. http://www.fourgoodmen.com/#/ivory-slideshow/4519384620
4. Back again. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HOHNER-THE-JACK-BASS...=item2c52cc8729 The seller sold four basses. Some of them, a Korean Vantage, a Tanglewood Canyon, and this Hohner, have reappeared on ebay after selling the first time. I wonder why. The seller has changed his location from "Leicester" to "Blaby", even though he's a couple of miles further out in Cosby. And, the basses now have postage as an option when they were all cash on collection the first time around.
5. Is this Vantage bass really worth much more than a Westone Thunder might go for? (This is a simple question, rather than a rhetorical one. I have no idea how much the bass is worth). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vantage-VS-695B-Bass...=item5ad690c0f7
6. How much would a Matsumoku made Cat go for?
7. What is a Cat series Aria Pro 2 bass? It's said to be 80s, but it could be "too late" 80s. Left handed, so it's not for me. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-Bass-Gui...=item3efbf2544a
8. Westone, Collection only in Clydebank. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Westone-Thun...=item1c0f59f1b3
9. I haven't seen one myself, but I have read good reviews ("for the price") for Johnny Brook basses. Which can be bought for £62-3 including postage. However, the good reviews I read started by describing how the buyer gave the instrument a pretty thorough setup. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Johnny-Brook-Black-E...=item5d2784ce7d I found the review I was thinking of. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Johnny-Brook-Bass-...5203&sr=8-2
10. Rockinbetter. Listing says Tokai, bass doesn't.
11. I'm sure someone was asking questions about this, but cannot find the thread. Korean Aria Pro 2 5 string. Previously discussed when on for £130 minimum bid. Now down to £99.99 minimum bid. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-pro-2-5-string-...=item3358fb71a0
12. How close do the Anniversary basses sound and play like a real Rickenbacker? There's a store near me that stocks the Anniversary 360 fireglow six string. They told me that they usually get the basses in as well, but that the basses tend to sell out rather quickly.
13.
You're in luck - it is a humbucking pickup! Just the standard P type though. You've spotted it's a medium scale bass, right? I've got two Cardinals, a 300 and a 380, and got both for less than £80 plus the postage so this might be approaching it's money. Having said that, I haven't seen a Cardinal bass on the 'bay for a while so maybe there are a few people on the look out for one.
Ah, when I say I like humbucking pickups, I prefer the humbucking pickup to be right up in the neck location. As for the medium scale, I have been seduced by this demo of the Eastwood Classic 4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmSUjhcJaPo It's the neck pickup sound of that bass that I'd really like to get. The reviewer also attributes some of the sound characteristics to the short scale. I can only buy an Eastwood classic 4 if I order it, and wait some months to receive it. Even though I love the sound in the review, I don't really want to buy a bass completely untried. Soundwise, I prefer Eastwood Classic 4 > typical jazz bass > precision. It seems it's the short scale, semi-hollow, and neck humbucker that gets the sound I'd like. There was someone selling two Yamaha BEX4s. But, when I checked out Youtube clips, the centrally situated single humbucker didn't have the right sound. But, I'd like something Japtastic. If I could get something like the Cardinal series basses that some people say can be picked up for £90 or so, then I wouldn't mind if it's not my favourite sound, as for only £90 or so, it wouldn't take up too many funds and prevent other purchases.
Edit: And if that 450 wasn't a lefty I'd be adding it to my collection as well!
I guess you don't want this one either then. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEFT-HANDED-ARIA-PRO...=item414be1a072
14. The six-string bass has sold. TBH, while Spear basses may not be of the very highest quality, it's hard to get a six string through neck bass for £250, so the value may be there. The JazzicisionMan bass is still there.
15. Here it is. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123
16. Question from me to ebay seller:
Hi. Do you know if this bass was made in the Matsumoku factory in Japan?
Answer from ebay seller:
Hi Mate, on the back of the bass it has made in Corea, so the answer to your qwuestion is probably yes.
17.
I won't be bidding so best of luck! Although it is just down the road from me - quite happy to collect it on your behalf. And look after it for you, for a year or two... J.
I would like something (bass or guitar) Japtastic in my collection, but aren't in a hurry. The bottom line is, if I was really serious about the instrument, I'd be bidding more The precision pickup configuration isn't my favourite, I prefer humbuckers, or a Jazz setup. But, if I actually did win for the price I bid, I'm not going to be complaining! Edit: Outbid already. I'll think about it.....
18. I put a lowball on that. I don't know how it works around here, but just in case, my bid is far too low to call "dibs" on it. Anyone thinking of bidding a reasonable bid, be my guest.
19. For all the left handed members near Scunthorpe. Aria Pro 2 bass, presumably Matsumoku. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Pro-II-Electric...=item3a564492eb

21.
that will be a no then, good luck with the re-sale!!! ATB W
'tis not me selling it. I'm just a nosy so-and-so.

23. Surprised no-one's linked to this one. Is this too "normal" to justify a post? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOKAI-ROCKINBETTER-B...=item3358a28b7d
24.
Dat ain't no SG. Surely it's an SB.
Oh. I just assumed it was a model line I'm not familiar with. Ta.
25. Is this a typical price for an Aria Pro II SG R80? (And, of course, please tell me if this is not an Aria Pro II SG R80). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-SG-R80-Bass-198...=item3a5614e2fa £595 starting bid, £685 BIN.
