1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/tanglewood-roundback...2QQcmdZViewItem I couldn't imagine bidding on something with no photo. Even if I could look up photos of the same model online. Something feels wrong somehow.
2. Soviet era Russian bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/60s-BASSUS-BASS-made...7QQcmdZViewItem
3. That's a £99 starting price, not BIN. How good is the Ritter brand? To me it looks a very similar bass to the Stagg BC300. With the £23 postage, unless Ritter is a better brand than Stagg, it doesn't look like a bargain to me. Or does it being a lefty count for something? Edit: Confused. Looking at the link, I see very fancy high end basses. But the one on ebay looks like a mass produced Stagg-a-like. Am I missing something. I feel that your post has gone over my head.
4. My pleasure at seeing so many nice instruments posted for sale here is tempered by the fact that some of the sales are promoted by financial hardship, making me regret that I cannot help people out by buying basses left, right, and centre.
5. Bidding ended. 0 bids.
6.
i have sent a mail to them .to befair when i bought my first warwick it came down with a broken nut ,they replaced it free of charge no problem . so i will see what happens as they have been very good in the past ,perhaps i should have contacted them in the first place . thanks for your help it is much appreciated
I'm running around doing several things here at once, so I've garbled the description a bit. But this link has some better written information. There are better links as I've read them before, but can't find them. 7.
26/05/08 from the bass centre
Speak to the Bass Centre. As I said, I'm no lawyer, but I believe that it's their responsibility to fix your tuner, unless it was your negligence that caused the fault. Your local trading standards will be able to give advice, but I believe that when goods break within six months of purchase it is presumed that the fault was present at the time of purchase and its up to the seller to prove that they were not. After six months, it's the responsibility of the buyer to show that the fault was there at the time of purchase. You bought the bass just over five months ago. Companies will often hide behind their warranties. But goods are expected to last for a reasonable time. How long this "reasonable" length of time is depends on the nature of the product, the price paid, etc. But I would expect that a premium brand bass would last for years without faults, and Trading Standards may agree. So if a company says that the warranty is only for one year, and after that you're on your own, that may not actually be the case. Again, the company cannot just say that the warranty does not apply to all parts of the product. But in terms of the contract of sale, "the company" is The Bass Centre, not Warwick. As I keep saying, I'm no lawyer. But your contract of sale was with The Bass Centre, not with Warwick. So it's them you need to speak to. If they say that you need to speak to Warwick, then you may want to point out to them that you bought the bass from them, your contract is with them, and that your bass was not of merchantable quality. But, The Bass Centre primarily (as far as I know) sells premium quality products. And hence I'd expect (no guarantee of course) that they will act properly to fix the problem. That you've already bought tuners could be a problem, but speak to them and see what happens. If it looks like it is going to become a problem, you are probably best off going to your local Trading Standards to ask for advice. You could also ask on the consumer rights forums of http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/ and/or http://www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk
8. I'm no lawyer, but if you bought that bass new in the UK, the Sale of Goods Act should apply. That is, that the bass (all of it) should be required to be of merchantable quality, free from defects, and last a reasonable time. And, if it breaks for a reason other than misuse then the retailer who sold it to you should be responsible for repair or replacement. As I said, I'm no lawyer, but believe that companies selling in the UK cannot remove your statutory rights under the act by unilaterally deciding that they don't warranty the whole product. How long ago did you buy it, and did you buy it in the UK?
9. I've listened to a number of the videos. To be honest, what I hear makes me feel that rather than having a distinctive voice of its own, the Stingray is a bass that covers a number of different sounds and sounds good in all of them. Perhaps its because I'm listening to it nowdays when there are a lot of different basses out there that have followed on from the Stingray. And that the Stingray has become one of the major sounds that bass designers either copy or "cover" when designing instruments. Am I missing something? (Entirely possible). Is this wrong?
10. Is there any music track someone can recommend that is the prototypical "Musicman Stingray" track, that really shows off the sound. Sort of like the way that the intro to The Clash's "London Calling" shows off the Fender Precision sound?
11. Not that I criticise the owner for customising it, assuming it's to his (probably) taste. I do like the concept of buying a cheap bass and doing stuff to it. But this styling is not to my taste.
12. Before I joined basschat (and bought my rockbass) I would have jumped on this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fleetwood-5-String-B...4QQcmdZViewItem barring bidding war bumping up the price significantly of course. Now after joining, it's just ho-hum. I'd put either of the £85 five stringers currently on sale in the "Basses for sale" forum ahead of this. The Peavey defretted and the Cort jazz/music man hybrid thing.
13.
I had a Marlin g****r when I was a kid. They were up against Squiers and that kind of thing, and got good reviews in the mags for a cheapo. Plywood, made in Korea IIRC? Pluck
A thread I found while googling suggested that the 70s Marlin basses were made in Japan. I'd guess this wouldn't be the case in later decades.
14. Curious about this one @£30 starting bid but no bids. Marlin seems to be Japanese, from what I found online, and it's a precision knockoff. So entirely appropriate for this thread I would think. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STUNNING-1970S-MARLI...4QQcmdZViewItem Edit: Bought by a single bidder. Anyone on here?

16.
Couple of options..... you can add a 5th above and vary the amount of distortion applied to the 5th.... and you can also add a 4th below to give you a full power chord type sound.... with distortion.... and you can then send these to a separate output so not to muddy your original bass sound.... it's well worth the money
Thanks all. This makes it clear. I'd like to hear the sound clips mentioned in the previous post too, as it sounds like it will be a monster sound if done properly.
17. Does the pedal first pitch-shift down, then distort the signal, then mix it back into the original unchanged signal? So that you get an interval, with one of the notes of the interval being distorted?
18. What is "Harmonised" distortion?
19. I notice that they have been relisted.
20. I thought the reviews for those basses suggested that they were reasonable value given the new price. If I'd seen that, I might actually have hit the button, then wondered what to do with it once it arrived.
21.
Haha I've already bought that and plan something very similar.
Please post the pictures when you've done so. When I saw it was £30, I wondered about getting it and doing weird things to it like letting my 9 year old paint it. But I have no car and I'd guess that those tiny quaint looking buses that go to Ruby would take quite some time for a round trip.
22.
Not only that, but how on earth would a prospective buyer ever work out if they were the real thing?
That's the first thing I thought when I saw that they were claimed to be "The cleanest set you'll ever find".
23. My eyebrows did rise slightly when I read in the description that it was a year old. Surely if someone's going to do something like that, they could buy that £30 Stagg musicman copy that someone was selling and paint away.
24. Is this a reasonable deal? Not sure how good these are, but the HC reviews seem positive, the brand seems to have been a reputable one before Fender got rid of it. Oh, and the bass looks nice too. This sort of bass at this sort of price is the kind of thing I could imagine myself buying in the future. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260302813622 Was it someone on here who bought it?
25.
It must be for playing rock music.
Musique concrète?
