1.
I know they'll be back. But they only ever go up when I'm asleep...
2. They will come back again. @Left Foot - don't forget that if you buy a Deko and don't like it, you can return it. Some are good. I'm considering taking my PJ to the bass bash and challenge people to find something wrong with it.
3. Still up now. Good luck to the people who ordered. Both in terms of there still being stock. And for the instruments being fine when you receive them. EDIT: Both the LH Jazz and the T-Bird have just gone.
4.
Dang! That's the tele I'm after!
Which one? The TE-30 or the TE-90? EDIT: T-Bird and LH Jazz Bass still there.
So how do you guys keep track, have you got a widget or something on your browser?
Sorry, just noticed this. I have a computer program that runs checking stock every ten seconds. It loads the dekos page in my browser and announces the dekos through the speech synthesiser if it notices anything new. I was listening to Martin Gore's new solo album and browsing the web when I was rudely ( ) interrupted on both counts this evening. EDIT: The round back guitar has just gone. (Announced by the speech synth). The T-Bird and LH Jazz are still there.
5. DEKOS! http://www.thomann.d...and_basses.html T-Bird, LH Jazz 1975, more. LH 1975 Jazz: http://www.thomann.d...ge_ser_deko.htm T-Bird: http://www.thomann.d...b_70vs_deko.htm Some gone already. Telecaster Guitar (since they seem popular). http://www.thomann.d...d_seri_deko.htm EDIT: GONE! There was a more specialist telecaster too, But gone now. Unlikely to be popular, but round back acoustic guitar: http://www.thomann.d...850_bk_deko.htm EDIT: Both the T-Bird and 1975 LH Bass have been there for five minutes now. PS: There was a shorty PB bass, but it was the first thing to go. Roundback guitar still there too. The first tele to appear and disappear in this batch was one of these: http://www.thomann.d...m_trans_red.htm I didn't see the price.
6. What does 'SOB' stand for in the model name on AliExpress?
7. I've created an automated version. It has been restricted because those who design the Java language have <something>ed around with the default synthesiser on Java, but it creates something that works, even if the 'bass' sound is not really a bass sound. There is a lot of white space on the interface and it has the word 'Evolutionary' in the window title because I plan to expand it to allow people to explore a tree of related randomised baselines. At present the basslines are only minor pentatonic, but I plan to add the ability to choose different scales. It definitely produces a small but useful proportion of interesting bass lines. EDIT: Now that I can change scales, it produces even more interesting bass lines. One 'scale' is just the root note and it's octave, and it produces more interesting lines than I expected.
8. There are some very interesting instruments being created by Atlansia. (BigRedX, did you find a buyer for your solitaire?). However, while I like the idea of a stick style instrument, I'm not convinced by the method of holding the pickup in place for this one. But, as mentioned, it's good that he's trying different things. EDIT: One problem would be that if you move the pickup from 'upstream' to 'downstream', then it'll be held way off the strings at any position except for the two extremes. But, perhaps with the movement allowed by the sliding thing where the pickup attaches, perhaps that's all the 'top' adjustment that is necessary.
9. Surely there is an easier way of having a moveable pickup.
10. What is this? https://www.facebook.com/334082209985909/photos/a.342059922521471.77637.334082209985909/882723761788415/?type=1&theater
11.
Call me old fashioned but I'd much rather listen to a bassist and guitarist working together than someone trying to do both.
Extended range bass music sounds very different from what you typically get from a bassist and guitarist working together. There's no reason why we can't have both of these, and more, styles of music and performance. The bass has now been removed from eBay, and all bids cancelled.
12.
It looks like the silks run over the nut on the deepest strings. Surely that isn't good?!
It's very close, but they don't run over the zero fret, do they? Would it be bad if the silks ran over the nut but not over the zero fret?
13.
Not a 900, it's an SB-ELT - essentially a post-Matsumoku Elite-II.
Post-Matsumoku? The listing has it wrong. (Which is pretty damn common for basses.) Concerning SB-ELT and SB-R80, they are very similar looking instruments. After some googling, I think the gold truss rod cover indicates an SB-ELT, does it not?
14. The starting price was low enough that I put a lowball £200.X bid in I was instantly auto-outbid however. No, I wasn't expecting to actually get it for that! PS: I estimate that it will sell for £600, and be a steal for whoever gets it. Clearly anyone who wants to can check the final sale price later and see if I was anywhere in the ballpark.
15. I noticed that, but wondered if the buyer wanted a properly made 13 string bass for as cheap as possible in order to try out such a beast. The quality of the finish and the non-fancy body wood may be cost-cutting. Was the finish actually done by Jon Letts, or could it be that the bass was supplied unfinished? The (I would expect from the single knob) simplicity of the electronics could also be explained by that.
16. Nice grain (IMHO) walnut topped P-bass. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-made-Active-Precision-Bass-P-Bass-/201343646740?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee1043c14
17. Now, this is a REALLY extended range bass. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13-String-Custom-Letts-Bass-Hipshot-hardware-Excellent-Condition-Only-1-Made-/400913142374?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d58491266&autorefresh=true Personally I'm not sure why anyone would want more than 9 strings, but clearly someone did & others still do.
18. Is this an SB900? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARIA-Pro-2-Fretless-Bass-Guitar-/221762690399?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33a2161d5f Looks to be a sensible starting bid to me, and postage is reasonable.
19. Minor point. The text:
As I've sold both the BB414 and the BG250-115, they won't be making an appearance. I may bring my Peavey Zephyr V, the Peavey Fury V and, if I'm feeling particularly strong that day, the BAM210
under my entry (25) is not by me. I suspect that someone's name has been missed out.
20.
This is the guy who's been selling loads of HB guitars, I reckon he could be Annoying Twits nemesis and be the one snapping up all the dekos within seconds.
I could write my own program to auto-buy HB instruments. But, I'm confident that I will get what I want at some time approximating when I want it. If I was wanting to buy a Deko HB Les Paul copy, then I'd be more worried.
21. The Warwick mini thumb bass is showing up as of now. How long has Tauzero had his? It might be the first deko than anyone on the forum bought. The first time I saw the photo my eyes interpreted it as a full sized Warwick bass leant up against an absolutely mahooosive amp. Thanks @KB.
22. 10 minutes is a long time in Deko land. I wonder if I closed my computer up at that time or something. EDIT: One thing I'm curious about is whether Dekos are posted during daytime on the weekends. I'm usually well away from my computer there, but on days I haven't been, I don't remember seeing much.
23.
That was one of Jim's early ones and from the location of the seller, a very ex member of this forum. I think they are having a laugh on the pricing mind....!
The seller says that he is open to offers. But, since he hasn't put it on eBay over and over again like a certain other extended range bass, I won't be offering him £26.27
24. When was that? I was in the kitchen cooking a strudel, so assumed that I missed it. But my program didn't notice anything.
