1. A number up a few seconds ago. Guitars. Boring. Suppose I'll post.
2. There are usually B stock on the site, so there shouldn't be too much of a hurry. I've always been tempted by a violin bass. But when I tried the Epiphone version I didn't like it. IMHO they sound great though. If those basses turned up as 'deko' versions, they'd probably be half that price.
3. I do think that if you are writing about the basses that you sell, as the Maruszczyk dealer for Turkey, that you should be upfront concerning the financial vested interest you have in pushing these basses. And, if you are advertising on this site, I believe that you should pay to do so. Rather than posting as if you are a normal user. 4. Very impressive. Both the playing and the bass!
5.
Well, These £109 guitars I wouldn't say were 90% of the performance of a genuine Fender, but they certainly aren't the 10% that they should be, considering that they're about 10% of the price of a Fender. They're maybe more like 40%/50%, and that's not bad going! But I will say that they are that price because the range is restricted to a few models, in a few colours. But, they are well made, and they look fantastic. And when I think about getting a Fender, I sometimes just wish that this brand would make a higher-priced range to compete with big-name brands.
Which brand? Please PM me if you don't want to post the brand in the forum.
6. I'm not worried If I wanted the CLB my excuse would be that I could have a fretted too, as you did That's a nice pair of basses you have, for not a lot of ££££
7. The CLB model does look nice, but I still can't help but feel very satisfied with my fretless B-30. What was your total price for both?
8. Surely the same would apply to any of the acoustics - if the neck is unusable, the whole bass would be a write-off. If it did have a neck fault, and it was noticed soon enough, it's possible to return it of course. See here for Maude's first impressions of the solid top acoustic bass: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227421-thomann-selling-harley-benton-basses-as-decoration-only/page__view__findpost__p__2668132 Maude, you mentioned you might return to give us a more in-depth review at some time...
9. This is what went up, and then sold out, last night. First the basses. And given that a basic precision bass for £20 or so might be a good starting point for a bitsa, three basses worth having IMHO. Harley Benton CLB-10SCE NS Deko (Acoustic bass guitar, the one with the solid top etc. http://www.thomann.d...lb_10sce_ns.htm) Harley Benton HBZ-2004 Deko (Neck through slightly jazzy bass http://www.thomann.d...ton_hbz2004.htm) Harley Benton PB-20 BK Standard Seri Deko ('Standard' precision bass http://www.thomann.d...120bk_ebass.htm) And a number of guitars. Harley Benton CG-45 NS Deko (Acoustic Guitar http://www.thomann.d...nton_hbcg45.htm) Harley Benton CG200-BK Deko (Classical acoustic guitar http://www.thomann.d...on_CG200-BK.htm) Harley Benton HBD120BK LH Deko (Left handed short scale strat http://www.thomann.d..._std_series.htm) Harley Benton HBO-600NT Deko (Ovation-ish acoustic guitar http://www.thomann.d...on_hbo600nt.htm) Harley Benton ST-20HSS CA Standard S Deko ('fat' strat with humbucker http://www.thomann.d...dard_series.htm) Rich pickings for anyone awake at that time.
10. I must admit that I've seen better (cosmetic at least) choices for modern reissues of 1950s/1960s basses. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kay-KV162-Bass-Natural-/111592160931?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fb693ea3
11. I have a six/twelve string double neck silent guitar. I never play it as it's not very good. But when I walked through town carrying it I got a lot of comments from people walking past.
12. I suspect that the HB60 basses will be back. They probably ordered a batch, and they sold out. Given that their business is selling basses, they'll probably order some more.
13. @JazzyYama. Thanks for the info. I was quite curious about the Santos Series acoustic. But given what you write, I'm a bit put off. If the truss rod doesn't adjust as it should. While that might be what makes yours a 'deko', I'm considering the possibility that it's part of the design of the guitar. I'd like to hear the sounds, both mic'd up and DI'd. I don't know if anyone saw that hippie naturist couple on The Voice, but his acoustic guitar sound was a case study of precisely the sort of acoustic-electric pickup sound that I don't like. @KB - there used to be more dekos going up during the day or at 8pm. They seem to be moving to more and more unusual times. I wonder what the reason for that might be. The B30 Natural acoustic bass dekos seem to have sold out. It's good that one of us got to order one.
14. I'll put this here, instead of in the ebay forum. With a rounded off truss rod, is this for decoration only? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-guitar-/201278094151?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2edd1bfb47 Harley Benton W60 bass.
15. It's a "D" stamp on the heel. They put that on so that people can't return the Deko items as full price items. (E.g. buy both a deko and a normal one, and return the deko in place of the normal one). I think it is very unlikely that the neck is unstable. While they say it's unreturnable, as you purchased it online you can always return it for a refund under the consumer contracts regulations. http://www.which.co....cts-regulations
16. At least something went up last night. There's now a left handed B-30 bass available which wasn't available yesterday. I woke up at 5:30am, but went back to sleep. There was a very cheap classical style guitar for £10, but I didn't think it worth a post. I'd guess that other instruments went up at 4am or so, but that was all that was left by the time I looked. I'm going to have to look into how I can track what's happening even when I'm asleep. This will probably mean another program running on a server at work to get 24/7 coverage. EDIT: Ah, I think it's the right hand B-30 Natural bass that's reappeared in the list. Wasn't there someone who was interested in the B-30 but didn't want a black one?
17. New quilted sycamore top Harley Benton BZ-6000.
18. The seller assures me that it intonates properly.
19. The seller is prepared to accept a personal cheque. Isn't that dangerous, as fraudulent cheques can still bounce quite a while after the funds have 'cleared' into someone's account? It was clearly designed to be a very unique bass.
20. There was also a flying v copy. http://www.thomann.d...ton_fv430bk.htm And one of their LP copies, the L500 being near or at the top of the Harley Benton LP copy range http://www.thomann.d...bk_egitarre.htm At £116, still a low end LP price wise. And an acoustic: http://www.thomann.d...jc503ceq_nt.htm And finally a short scale strat. http://www.thomann.d...enton_ms_jr.htm That only costs £36 for the proper version. I wonder how much the deko copy was. There's a bug in my program. It is supposed to record in a file the time that any new instruments are noticed, and it didn't EDIT fixed now. It does seem rather odd that these go up in the middle of the night. Perhaps it's a database thing, with updates of new instruments scheduled then when the site is relatively quiet.
21. A number up now including LH 1975 bass. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_75lh_na_vintage_ser_deko.htm
22.
The handrest is deffo a bit wonky - bonus that it's there at all. Can't remember seeing one of these turn up complete before.
I was thinking that usually there isn't a pickup there
Oddly, someone on my local Facebook music gear group was selling an Avon EB copy like this for £20 today. Minus bridge bar, strings - and cover, of course. I passed.
Why did you pass? (I'm guessing it's the reason why I often pass over bargains - it's impossible to buy every bargain bass).
23. The 'Strings' bass looks very much like my Cimar. Even unto the finish. (Though, I suspect that my Cimar has been refinished at some point). Mine has a different (and suspiciously new looking) metal plate where the two jack sockets are.
