1. While we're talking about bolt-on SGs. Is that (I presume) pickup cover a bit wonky? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Avon-SG-Bass-Guitar-/151575969865?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item234aa1c049
2. If I tried to make myself a bass, I think that's what it would look like.
3. I think it looks brilliant. Not tacky at all. I hope this isn't saying something about me to the basschat community.
4. I'm halfway there. I need to get one of these: As I already have this:
5. I keep a spare bass at work for the occasional lunchtime bash. If i lived part of the time in another country ....
6. IMHO it looks much more serious now with the black pickguard and the pickup cover than with the white original.
7. Hmmm... I'm not going to be setting an alarm for 4am.
8. 4am! It really is hard to buy them, apart from those they have large numbers of (e.g. the acoustic basses) or those that are unfenced (the banjo and the pink guitar). They are often going in seconds, let alone minutes.
9. I accidentally left my laptop running all night. It seems that at some ungodly hour of the morning (I would guess) a whole load of dekos went up and then disappeared again. Including a five string 'progressive' bass. And what appears to be the most expensive HB instrument that I've seen, the acoustic guitar "Harley Benton CLD-30SCM-CE SolidWood". I don't remember seeing that in the product list before. I'm upgrading my program so that I can check when things are seen. But, I'm wondering exactly what times of the night people at Thomann are working and uploading new Dekos. Did anyone see them go up?
10. Happy new sauropod named bass day!
11. Nice detective work concerning what the seller has been buying recently.
12. I would guess that the large numbers of Tanglewaters sold cheaply on ebay indicated that they couldn't sell them in sufficient numbers. Either that, or the manufacturer was producing too many substandard instruments.
13. LP. Been a while since a bass went up. http://www.thomann.d..._burst_deko.htm EDIT: Gone within 30 seconds or less. It's really getting to a state of having to buy instantly or many items are gone. I owner if putting an instrument in your shopping basket reserves it.
14. As on the other thread, I listened to Thomann's own samples of the JB-20, and thought it sounded pretty good even with the anonymous pickups. It sounds as if it took a bit of work, but you've got a good bass now. I wonder what would happen if you put the deko neck on ebay with a 99p start
15. Not mine. It came in a cardboard box. I think mine was missing the complementary tools that come with new basses too. If I remember correctly, some people have received the complementary tools.
16. The price of the pink guitar has gone down. It was £17.49, now it's £16.68.
17. Happy New Bass day. It certainly seems to have a lot of character (in a good way ).
18. Happy New Bass Day Grangur. When I put Fender flats on my four string fretless, it did lose a bit of the more distinctive sound of the original strings. But if you find them buzzy, then the Fenders may be just what you want. I really liked the sound of the original strings, but I'm enjoying little to no string noise even more. The flats give a nice DI sound, IMHO. Given how fast things disappear, I'm having to think about what I'm likely to want to get to that I'm ready to hit the buy button ultra quick. I"d like one of these: http://www.thomann.d...una_clu_32c.htm This looks good, but there are no sound samples http://www.thomann.d...njo_ukulele.htm No sound samples for this. The Fishman pickup should be a plus, but some acoustic-electrics don't sound right to me. Hence, I'd like to hear the samples. http://www.thomann.d...una_clu_60c.htm http://www.thomann.d...luke_50c_nt.htm Unless anyone wants a cheap pink acoustic guitar. That's still up there for ... some reason Of course, I could just buy the non-Deko versions of the above. But, it's a challenge to get another Deko. Also, for those who bought the standard (not the 1975) jazz bass. I was playing the samples of that bass through some good monitor speakers today. IMHO the anonymous pickups on the standard model sound pretty good. What do owners think?
19. They are getting around a lot. A local shop in Leicester has a Revelation ES335 copy. But, no basses that I noticed. It certainly looks the part.
20. Happy Birthday & NBD! Looks like yet another bargain. My fretless has similar light patches on the top. I suspect that you are as unworried by this as I am My preamp looks the same as in the pictures on Thomann's website.
21.
Nice fretted Thunder III. Surely it will sell for that starting price. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ae38f001d
£517 + p&p!!!!!! Surely that's a healthy price even for a Thunder III. I thought the £300-400 range was normal.
Sorry for being slow - I think it's because Annoying Twit has been seduced away from this thread and into the realms of Deko :-)
In terms of bass buying as a competitive sport, Deko watching is like Rollerball compared to the Lawn Bowls of ebay. When my program suddenly announces through the speech synthesiser that there are new Dekos up, and the Thomann page automatically loads in my browser, I have but seconds to scan the list of new arrivals before they're gone. If it counts for anything, all my bass practice today was on my very early 1980s Japanese made Rickenfaker, while the Deko fretless acoustic sat forlornly in its spot behind the television.
22. LOADS UP in the last few seconds including 1975 bass. And including PJ bass. http://www.thomann.d...series_deko.htm http://www.thomann.d..._serie_deko.htm EDIT: GONE ALREADY!!!! There's not much left apart from a pink acoustic and a standard strat. It's a guitar, but there was one of these too. http://www.thomann.d...m_trans_red.htm And one of the 335 copies.
23. Maybe someone should ask him a question saying that the bass doesn't have enough strings, and does he have any 22 string basses for sale. Otherwise we could all make him £50 offers en masse.
